Came here on August 23 with my gf to celebrate our birthday week. Had a great time. Mo the bartender also made it fun. He lets the patrons choose songs and he adds it to the play list. I had a basic vodka tonic and some jello shots (yeah we hung out as if we were in our 30s again). This review is more about the vibe. This bar is an absolute disaster. The little security guard Preston was completely out of line. I have video of him making threats to head butt my wife. He then got one of his buddies( "guy" in blue flannel) to push my wife and then said"equal left equal rights". I watched it happen right in front of me and I have proof. He's very lucky I didn't see that. When I asked about the camera footage, suddenly the staff claimed there was a "power outage" and the cameras magically weren't working. Sure they weren't. One of their own employees even admitted Preston is known for being reactive, yet this place still lets him roam around like he runs the place. Also want to mention, take a look at his pupils. I'll let you use your imagination on this one .Management tried to lie and say he didn't work there, even though their own staff confirmed he did. The amount of dishonesty here is honestly embarrassing. And if the staff doesn't send you running, the bar itself will trip you on the way out. There's a big, obvious hump in the middle of the floor that multiple people wiped out on the same night. They don't fix it, they don't warn anyone, they just let people fall. This bar is a clown show from the staff to the safety. They need a complete reset. P.S. JUST tried to visit this place for dinner and drinks, but two grown women in the parking lot gave me such a hard time in the parking lot, I chose to leave. Parking is tricky and in unfamiliar territory after a very long drive the one way streets add to the challenge. Too bad, I've heard good things. read more

This dive bar is small and hard to notice from the outside. They had a band playing on the enclosed patio, which is actually most of the space they have. The bar staff pumped out the drinks quickly and we really enjoyed the band. read more

My first time ever to Cocoa Beach and I stumbled (not literally) into this bar. First thing I noticed, man is it tiny. But that gave it the perfect "dive" feel. The bartenders were always available and I never once thought "when am I going to get another beer?" They were very friendly and positive. The crowd got pretty rowdy but that tends to happen when the beers are continually flowing. It was battle just to get to play the jukebox, but I can't blame the establishment for that. They have trivia, live music (Sublime-type jam band when I went), and it was just a very mellow bar. It IS a smoking bar so if you don't like cigarette smoke take heed. However, if you don't mind it I suggest this bar because I left there feeling happier than when I went in [not just because of the alcohol :) ] Would I recommend to friends? Absolutely!! read more

Cramped around Coconuts, though, you'll find smaller, more discreet bars tucked in for the locals and more adventurous out of towners. Hunkerdown is one such place. Tucked into the parking lot-alley combo beside Coconuts Hunkerdown consists of a small indoor patio-like bar, a tiki patio and an inner courtyard. But the inside (which is mostly outside anyway) is... sketchy. It's just the diviest of dive bars. The drinks were alright, the bathrooms were downright scary. The band wasn't bad but wasn't great. This used to be my favorite dive bar in cocoa Beach until today. Every employee here that I've ever encountered and I'm great, with the exception of Chris who I had the displeasure of meeting today. Dogs are not allowed here as I discovered today. Good to know, as I've brought my dog to this bar more than once, including last week, have never been told they are not allowed, and there is no signs posted that dogs are not allowed. Today for first time the bartender told me that they normally don't allow dogs. As I was leaving another employee stopped me and showed me where I could keep my dog on the property line. 10 minutes later, halfway into my first (and last, ever) at hunker down, an employee named Chris approached me, raising her voice, showing me a Facebook post about how dogs aren't allowed. I told her that was good to know since two of her employees told me different things and there is no sign posted. She continued to argue with me even though I wasn't even arguing with her initially. Our disagreement came after I told her that she could have communicated her message to me without being disrespectful. Her response was that she was respecting the owners. I told her she could respect both her customers and the owners, these are not mutually exclusive things, which I guess she really didn't appreciate because she was still trying to argue with me in a raised voice as I was walking out the door. She approached me so aggressively that my dog was scared of her. And my dog likes everyone. She's literally the second person I've ever even heard him bark at and he's 5 years old. And for the record, my dog was not even on the property line when she approached me. He was beyond the property line but near me, exactly where the other employee told me to be. There are lots of bars in Cocoa Beach where just like Hunker Down, you can't bring your dog, but unlike Hunker Down they don't approach customers yelling at them. read more

Easily my favorite bar in Cocoa Beach. Fun Bartenders who always take care of me. the crowd is very much mixed and there are really very few pretentious people. Late night tends to pull in the service crowd from surrounding restaurants. Its a great place to have a casual drink with friends or wind down from a hard week of work. read more
