Pub Americana is one of the most popular restaurants located in the historic Cocoa Village and is often recognized as an iconic village of the popular downtown venue. However, some may not know Pub Americana has an "extension of nightlife" located upstairs. If you are amongst the population who come out for after dark entertainment and so happen to love Pub Americana, you might want to check out The Blind Lion. Described as a jazz, blues, and comedy club, The Blind Lion is located directly upstairs of Pub Americana. The entrance for it is a staircase just west of the actual restaurant which leads to a medium-sized loft of an area, There is a spackle of seating options ranging from booths along the walls and tables and chairs in front of the stage. A small-ish bar is located on the west side. Of course, the ambiance is often set for the type of entertainment provided. I went during a jazz event, so there were some moody hues of blues and reds throughout the club. Pertaining to food and drinks, The Blind Lion advertises a "full menu," but technically, it is a limited menu from Pub Americana. My friend Chops and I ordered apps for everyone to share, which included their gator bites and the Pub Bang-Bang, the name given to their app of eight tempura-battered and fried jumbo shrip with sweet chili aioli. The food was good, but overall, it was a little below average compared to what is good in other restaurants. They were also on the pricey side at almost $20 for each app. As for their alcoholic drinks, I enjoyed what I got, but for the life of me, I could not remember what it was I got. For our entertainment, we listened to Tony Wynn and Cameron Brown, a jazz duo that my friends Chops and Ufredo know. I loved their music and especially enjoyed their jazz covers of classic 90s and 2000s songs. I especially liked their jazz cover of "Ride Like the Wind" by Christopher Cross, in which they gave me props for actually knowing the song they were covering! Ultimately, The Blind Lion is a decent spot to go to, and I see why it is #3 in the top three nightlife locations in the area. Are there other venues that are equally as good and possibly handicap friendly? Yes. But if there happens to be a show I want to go to and it happens to be here in The Blind Lion, I wouldn't refuse. Maybe just budget a bit because the prices can be a bit on the high side overall. Also, show love to the performers and bring some cash to tip too. read more

What a great venue. It's like stepping back in time to the 60's or early 70's, in the best possible way. A hole in the wall that leads you upstairs to an intimate speakeasy-like lounge setting. It's a cocktail bar - drinks cost some money - and they're worth it. The lady bartender was warm and friendly and highly skilled. We saw a blues/rock band there - Russ Kellum band. Never been in here until last night. It's the upstairs of the Pub Americana.... Great bartender. Came to see Don Alexander and his trio, so talented! Love watching him play - usually classical music at Villa Palma just down the street. New Orleans vibe last night. Didn't order any food just tried the Piano Man drink & a Tito's and sprite. Great service from the staff. The room was very small and cozy. A nice place for a date. The music was fantastic- Tony Wynn and his jazz ensemble were phenomenal. The only reason I gave this place 3 stars is because the food was not too great; the pasta was luke-warm for both myself and my friend, and got cold as we ate it, and could not finish it at all. :( However, we are willing to give this venue another try. Hopefully, we'll have a better dining experience. read more

Tarren makes the best French 75 around and the live music is so good. Such a cool, underrated spot.

I really enjoyed myself. This is the most fun I've had in Brevard in a long time. I'm happy I've found a spot with the music, crowd, & atmosphere I've desperately been missing. There's 2 bartenders so they get a bit busy & service can take a bit longer than expected/usual. The menu had plenty of options & the prices were reasonable, the drinks were a bit high so I'll continue to order beer :) It's a small space and it gets warm. There could be more space for walking & dancing. Sitting at the bar in certain chairs near the dining tables is tight. I'm looking forward to more weekends with jazz, mature folks, & a good time. read more

A really cozy and intimate Jazz lounge. I came really late and the kitchen only offered bar food. Pizzas, flatbread and salads. The bartender was very attentive even though she was solo. Worth the visit if you're in the area. read more

This place has a lot of potential but it is way to small of a venue for the interest. We went with a party of 6 and it was impossible to get a table together. This was our 2nd (an more than likely last attempt) to try and enjoy a Saturday night here because there isn't even room to stand it's so small! First, this is a very small place set above Pub Americana. Don't come here expecting to dance. It's a quaint little jazz club with limited seating and space. Having said that, it's a great club! The band playing on St. Patrick's Day was pretty damn good. The bartender, Carly, was AWESOME! I ordered the berry mojito and it was delicious. We got the margherita pizza and it was okay. Nothing special, but not bad either. If we lived here, I'd definitely come back to see live bands and have Carly make me great drinks. read more

Music is good, drinks are generous. Wear short sleeves, though, as the place for some reason is running 10 degrees warmer than the sun. Also, don't be turned off by the vomit smell in the stairwell... it discontinues once inside. Nice staff! read more

I was a little apprehensive to go here, since there's very little info available online. We went on a Friday night around 9pm. It wasn't too crowded and we were able to get seats at the bar. I do think they need to organize the seating a bit better. We saw several groups of people leave because two people were sitting at a 4 top or 6 top instead of a 2 top. We both had cocktails that were pretty light and then switched to beer and wine. The music was great, and the band interacted with the crowd well. We'll probably go back, but stick to beer and wine. The cocktails prices aren't worth it. read more

We (4 of us) enjoyed listening to Tony and Cameron tonight. The service however was very poor. We all had dinner and 2 rounds drinks before the waitress unexpectedly brought our checks. Another waitress came and cleared our table. There were plenty of empty tables but as we were continuing to listen to the music Carly, who claimed to be the manager, came to our table and told us we we had to leave because we had not ordered anything. We explained three times that we had ordered and would be leaving shortly. Carly said the owner would not allow us to be there. None of us have ever been treated so rudely in any establishment.
