COVID- tall ceilings and airy. I did see some people inside studying. I saw two outdoor seating area. VIBE- I could be wrong because I am not from the area but it looks like a high school study/ hangout spot. COFFE- just a standard hometown sweet drink kind of place. My partner and I both got a frappe type drink and it was very sweet but it wasn't bad. I wouldn't be mad if I got my drink again. CHOCOLATE COVERED COFFEE BEANS- I prefer the trader joe ones to this. Can't really review because they have the wrong hours posted on Yelp and Maps. Traveling through and always try to avoid Starbucks and support local coffee shops so knowing they were open until 9pm we stopped off and once inside at 7:00 were told they were close. I know many places have changed hours since 2020, but many never post the changes and it can be frustrating when you go out of your way to support them then find they're closed. We'll try again whenever we travel through again. I'm guessing and hoping it'll be good and I can up the rating and they'll have taken care of the issue by then. read more

Really awesome place. I come here to work on my laptop, and it's a super welcoming place to study and hang out. Plenty of seating, comfy sofas and booths, outdoor seating, tons of power outlets, polite and helpful staff, not too loud, arranged with bookcases to give you privacy but a hip vibe. When I first flew into Montgomery, AL and knew I'd be staying at a hotel for several months, there were not a whole lot of places that really drew me near. Most facilities felt familiar, like the typical fast food you come to see, but in a cold, distant sense. Village Coffee was one place that was the exception. It's college kid friendly and did not have the typical quality of any generic coffee shop I've seen in my time. What can't be said about the carbon copy Chinese buffet, BBQ joint, or fast food chain, can be said about about village Coffee, and that's personality. Was I naive to think there would be a Starbucks in Troy? Apparently so, because when I searched on Starbucks app the nearest one was at least 40 miles away. So I was relieved to find this coffee shop nearby. It's clean and seems friendly and I thought the prices reasonable. I was a little taken back when I could not use my personal cup. I was told they are not allowed to put coffee drink in a cup that's not theirs. I'm sure they have reasons, but to me it does not seem good for the environment. Loved this place! Really delicious coffee for a great deal. The inside is really cute with tables and comfy chairs perfect for studying or catching up with good friends. Also on Fridays they give 30% off to students after 5pm. My favorite so far was the Village Charger! It has espresso, Irish cream, and vanilla. SO DELICIOUS!! The coffee was good, and Jeremy, the barista, was very friendly and efficient. The place is clean, and the coffee served hot. The shop is relatively cute as well. Stained concrete floors, etc. However, when I think of coffee shop, the image that I conjure up is people sitting in little clusters, tapping on their laptops, listening to music, laughing, while a barista is steaming up drinks and handing 'em out. To me, coffee shop is about the environment as much as the drink. I would describe this environment as not welcoming. When you walk in the front door there are two signs. One says "complementary" WiFi. The other says, "no public restrooms. ". Then you step into the store, and there is a huge display full of T-shirts, coffee makers, etc. Tons and tons of merchandise straight down the center of the room, a good 8 feet tall. Which means that the barista is behind a wall of knickknacks. And you have to circle around and go behind that thing to get your drinks. So we made our order and went and sat down on a comfy couch. I looked up across the ceiling and saw not one, not two, not three... Ah, I'll skip the boring count and go to the punchline- There were at least 10 security cameras all over the ceiling. This place is only about 20 x 30', 10 security cameras for 600 ft.²? The message we walked away with is, "if you drink our coffee, which is a diuretic, and have to go the bathroom, go somewhere else. And all of these knickknacks around here are likely to get stolen. So they have set up all the security cameras all over the store." So we felt like we were being watched. Maybe it's not true...we just wanted to get out though. My wife's three comments accurately captured our experience, "Is this place safe... What's with all the cameras? ". "How can you put a liquid in you like coffee and not have a restroom? ". And finally, "They just don't want you to stay in the store." And we didn't. I was looking forward to a local mom and pop coffee shop, but, disappointingly, Village Coffee is actually just another franchise. The inside lacks character and if you didn't look at the name on the awning outside as you were walking in, you'd probably think you were in a Starbucks. I'm not sure where they get their pastries/food from, but they have the appearance of being commercially mass-produced. My sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich was definitely in commercial packaging in the case, and it tasted like any that you might get from a fast-food, grab-and-go type of place. My latte was good but milkier than I prefer. The service was quick and friendly. I don't care for Starbucks, but if that is what you are looking for, Village Coffee is comparable. read more

I've been here twice, passing through town. The first time (Fall 2014) was a bust. My coffee was luke-warm, made incorrectly, and the barista was rude. I stopped in again yesterday. (Mainly because I was without coffee all day till lunch and jonesing for one). The barista was incredibly friendly, and questioned my drink preference to make my latte spot-on. She did. I had a couple of hours to kill in Troy and a show to catch up on in my Netflix queue. Village Coffee was an excellent coffee shop to meet my needs. I enjoyed an excellent cafè mocha and a wonderful bowl of chocolate and coconut gelato while sitting in a cozy chair and enjoying my Netflix show. The atmosphere is great and the WiFi gave me no issues (you have too make a purchase, but that's really only fair). The cafè mocha was smooth, mild, and creamy.
