A friend and I saw a Food Truck event on social media and decided to check it out. And when we…read morearrived we realized it was the grand opening of the Truck Stop at Jackson Square. They only had 4 food trucks, but apparently that will be the standard. However, those trucks will be rotating out. I'm not sure how frequently. We both had food from Stuff Puppies. I enjoyed it and there was a long line and wait, but it was because everything was made to order. There was seating, but not enough for the grand opening. We waited in line, but many people stayed back to hold seats for others, so we stood and ate our stuffed puppies. Another hang up were the drinks. They were serving beer and wine on this particular day, but we just wanted bottled waters and none of the trucks were selling drinks. So, we had to wait in the beer and wine line to get a bottled water. I'd suggest them making a separate line for just sodas, bottled water and other non-alcoholic drinks. The event had a fundraising component. They were donating a portion of the proceeds to the North Augusta Bark Park. Overall, cool event. I'd just like to have seat to enjoy my food next time.

I got tacos and they were amazing! They also have a little table next to the truck with different kinds of salsa and sour cream. Of course I tried all the salsas and they were all great so I slathered that salsa all over my tacos. It was delicious but I made such a mess and got salsa all over the place. If you were watching me eat you probably would have thought that I was an overgrown three year old or was just raised in a barn with animals. Either way I didn't care, I can already wash my clothes and we were eating outside in the grass so no one had to clean up after me. The price was a little more than I'd like to pay for two tacos but honestly it was worth it and I'll definitely be eating there again.

We ordered the fish basket to share. Mama declared the hush puppies "perfect". The flounder fillets were served with a heap of fries and mustard, hot sauce and a delicious tartar sauce. My late maternal Grandmother took several of us there when she closed on her home many years ago and I remember a very pleasant experience. The spot is stuck time and represents the glory days of South Augusta. It still smells and looks the same. We started with the Bavarian Fritters. They were so scrumptious. I love the apple sauce with which they are served. I had the pork schnitzel with Spätzle for my entree. It was delicious. They have outdoor dining and a large dining room. Our service was great and we had an excellent turnaround time on our food and orders. I took a slice of German Chocolate Cake home. Parking is free and ample. Come support this longstanding Augusta institution that has been around for 50 years. I'd recommend some updates from an infrastructure standpoint on their end to really improve the experience but otherwise we had a great experience.
