This is for the Spa…read more.. The spa opens at 7 AM and there I was. I came in through the gates of the gated community and parked in the self parking lot at the spa. Waited in front for five minutes and the doors opened! I felt like putting my face against the window while I waited and say, "open, open, open". I was greeted by a lovely young woman who checked me in and walked me around the grounds to show me around. As I came so early, I had the place to myself for the first two hours. I used the gym, took a swim, went in a couple of Jacuzzis until my girlfriends arrived at 9:30 AM. I'm more of an introvert, so it was perfect. Altogether, we took a yoga class at the beautiful yoga pavilion. We sat by the pool and had a lovely lunch. The food was excellent, including the complementary treats and banana bread. The only negative about the pool was that we were told if we left for more than 20 minutes our belongings would be removed. We couldn't hold our chairs for the day. That was news to us. It was a warm 90° day on a Friday in March and the community and hotel is allowed to use the spa grounds and they all showed up. Every lounge chair was full. Note to self: come Monday through Thursday. The massage: I'm going to say it's one of the best massages I've ever had in my life (and I've been to other five star spas). Pure bliss. Jackie was my masseuse. She listened to me when I asked for stronger pressure and then from there, I went into another world of goodness. She had such love in her eyes when it was all done. This is the most expensive massage I've ever had in my life. Around $400 for a 60 minute massage (with tax and tip) not including lunch. But treating ourselves once in a while is worth it. We felt like we were princesses. Yes, we'll be back. Maybe a while from now to save up our pennies, but we will be back.

Beautiful Grounds, But Not the Five-Star Experience I Expected…read moreI visited Rancho Valencia on my birthday expecting a true five-star experience, and while there were genuinely lovely moments, the overall visit fell short of what a resort at this level should deliver. A few things worth knowing before you book: they do not offer a day pass. Access to the resort is granted by booking a service through their spa, which is fine in principle. What's not fine is their pricing transparency. The rates listed on their website are not what you'll actually pay. Pricing changes based on demand, time of day, and availability. I received two different booking confirmations for the same treatment at two different prices, neither of which matched what was on their site. When I asked at check-in, they explained their dynamic pricing model casually, as if it were common knowledge. It isn't, and it should be disclosed at the time of scheduling. No one mentioned it when I called to book. The check-in staff was cordial, but the energy made it clear they were sizing me up. It was subtle and perhaps unintentional, but noticeable enough to color the start of my day. The property itself is genuinely beautiful. Lush grounds, a cold plunge, multiple pools, and access to yoga and fitness classes throughout the day. The yoga class I attended was listed as intermediate to moderate, but the instructor, who normally teaches the advanced class, ran it at a moderate to advanced pace. I was the only person in the room at the intermediate level and spent more of the class struggling than unwinding. The food and beverage program is what you'd expect at a resort of this caliber. When I booked my massage, I specifically requested champagne for my birthday. It was noted. It was never offered, not before my treatment, not during, and not after. That kind of detail is exactly what separates a five-star experience from a four-star one, and it was simply forgotten. My massage therapist was outstanding. She was thorough, skilled, and clearly excellent at her craft. She identified tension I didn't even know I was carrying and worked through it with real intention. She was the highlight of the day without question. Rancho Valencia is a stunning property that has the bones of an exceptional experience. But the lack of pricing transparency, the inconsistent service details, and the atmosphere at check-in kept it from living up to its reputation. I'm not sure I'd return.

Hopefully the things i noticed were a one off or deferred maintenance that just needs to be caught up. I came here to celebrate my birthday and I really wanted to love my stay. At first glance, the property is stunning. The room decor is charming, the staff was very nice, and we had a great meal at Mustangs & Burros (the Brussels sprouts were delicious). However, once we settled in, the lack of attention to detail became impossible to ignore--especially since I was staying with a broken ankle. The room cleanliness was disappointing for this price point. I found hair and grime on the coffee maker tray, hair on the floor tiles, and air vents covered in thick dust. The bathroom walls even had visible stains that hadn't been wiped down. The carpet was dirty when I got there. For a 4 star hotel I expected more. On top of that, maintenance issues made the stay difficult. The ice maker was broken , and the outdoor lighting at the exit and on the pathways around the property wasn't working. Navigating the property in the dark with crutches was very tricky, and seeing rusty screws sticking up out of the deck felt like a genuine safety oversight. It's a shame because the atmosphere is great, but the housekeeping and maintenance really need to step it up.

We came just for the day and it was worth every penny! I love how they allow you to leave and come back that's always nice. There's plenty of parking and i believe you can ask to be taken to your car via golf cart lol I really enjoyed my time here to celebrate my birthday! My masseuse Maria was 10/10!!!! I highly highly recommend her! Omg i have never had a massage that good! She worked on the areas i told her i had tension and the oil they used was so delicious! It had juniper and it was just magical. We'll definitely return!

Golf course maintenance crews are up and at it, around 6:30 in the morning(!!). Needless to say, we didn't get much sleep and, when asked to change rooms, they were booked and had nothing available for us. As for dining... "room service" is a joke where you order online, get charged $40 for them to bring it to your room and, it's cold by the time it gets there. We had Easter brunch at Vue which was just ok. I got the eggs Benedict which, when cut open, revealed clear runoff of barely cooked egg - instantly made my hunger disappear. My husband's breakfast, the chorizo scramble, and son's breakfast, pancakes, were totally fine and edible. For the amount of money it is to stay here, I think it's 1000% overrated and we'll skip it next time we're in SD, for sure. There's really no need to come here.

This is cute small resort near the Del Mar Racetrack and it is close to good restaurants, retailers, grocery stores, and other attractions. We appreciate that it some nice amenities like full kitchen, free washer and dryer service, heated pool, sauna, rec room, and grill patio area with fire pits. Coffee is free from 6AM-11AM. The resort gronds are kept clean and for the most part is pretty quiet. We did encounter one party which made the patio/pool area their own backyard for a couple of days with loud music and a lot of commotion, but other than that things we're pretty chill. Service is very hit or miss. We've had issues during both of our check-ins where our reservation details was not readily available. House cleaning could also benefit from some improvements. We stayed in multiple rooms on both of our visits and each room lacked on cleanliness from grimme and crumbs in fridge doors and interior, to dusty surfaces, to finding hairs in the freezer. One front desk agent goes above and beyond to meet our needs. Noah M was always very attentive, calm, and willing to work with our reservation requests and needs. I'm not sure of our experiences would have been as good without his help. We're likely to return for another stay at Winners Circle and definitely recommend.

As with many resorts there are pro's and cons. Pros: * It's an intimate resort thats so close to things you can walk to them if you're up to it. * spacious rooms. Varying from studio to two bedroom units * kitchenettes to full size kitchens * heated pool, jacuzzi and a dry sauna *rec room * very family friendly * good coffee provided up till 11am * plenty of parking * silver rating with RCI * firm beds (as I prefer) * property has a facelift and several upgrades. * great restaurants within walking distance Cons: * several RCI Reservation issues prior & upon checking in. They had no reservations showing up with our confirmation number nor with our names. Arrived on time but didn't get into our room till after 5pm. *widow spiders and ants...we put cinnamon infused pine cones around the unit and patio to help deter them. We both had to use our after bug bite balm (bring essential oils and that in your travel bag) I showed my bug welt to the manager. * some damage to old appliances and could've been cleaned up better in between guests. * both units were stayed in had the same issues. * not a lot of ADA features here albeit they to have some. Ie elevator, bars to aid for shower entry. Believe they have some shower seats if needed. Ask the desk for that. I already have my next stay booked! I'm going to have a surgery soon so I will have a nice recovery stay (away from my dog) here. As long as there is no more RCI and check in issues all should be great. Becky and Noah attended to our needs as best as they could. Days later I'm still trying to communicate with the RCI care team to get further help with all the glitches and problems that arose and that took time away from enjoying this place with its full glory! They have regular resort bookings online too. Where the surf meets the turf! It's where it's at! We truly enjoyed our mini staycation here regardless of some of the hiccups that we experienced.

Family Logistics: My wife headed to the spa for some downtime while I took the kids to the pool, which worked out perfectly for everyone. Dining: We had dinner at catalina kitchen where I had a really good steak. Service: The staff was very pleasant, and everyone we encountered was nice. Room Accommodations: I'm rating this 4 stars instead of 5 due to the room layout. We booked for four people, but the initial room was so tiny that it couldn't comfortably fit all of us without one child sharing our bed. I ended up spending more money and upgrading to a suite to ensure we all had enough space and comfort. Comparison to Past Stays: I booked this same promotion a year ago and the room was much larger and easily slept two adults and two kids. I'm not sure what changed with the room assignments this time around, but the upgrade was necessary for our comfort. It did cost us extra $$. Overall, it was still a great way to treat my wife to a surprise while we all had some staycation fun.

Everything was set up around the pool with a beautiful ocean view, which already made it feel a little more elevated than your typical game day spot. They had a huge screen so you could enjoy the game from pretty much anywhere, and the overall vibe was just really chill and well put together. The food was buffet style with all the classic Super Bowl favorites, plus some really cute themed desserts. They even made desserts inspired by the teams playing, which was such a fun touch. I also loved how they set up the buffet stations; there were options in both the front and the back, so no matter where your table was, it was easy to grab food without walking all over the place. They also had a raffle going during commercial breaks, which was actually really fun and kept the energy up throughout the game. It made the whole experience feel more interactive instead of just sitting and watching. Your ticket covers unlimited food, which makes it easy to just relax and enjoy everything. Drinks were separate (they had an open bar option for an additional cost), but overall it felt worth it for the experience. It's a great option if you don't want to watch the Super Bowl at home but also don't want the chaos of a crowded bar. Perfect for going with friends or family; good food, great setup, and just an easy, fun time. I'd definitely go again if they host it next year
