This is a cheese pizza with extra sauce and extra cheese. Asked them to cook extra extra light and not to brown the cheese. .

I have been eating Carl's pizza since the 70s. Back then, it was like the pizza in the pic. I moved away over 20 years ago. At some point, they started over browning the cheese for my tastes. It didn't taste as well as the pizzas I remembered growing up. I ordered one extra light cooking but still the cheese was brown. I finally said, "Please pull out of the oven before turns brown," and they did. It tasted perfect. If you want to taste the legendary pizza like it tasted 50 years ago, then ask them to cook this way. Back then, they all came back that way.

    Adorable sidewalk dining!

I was in town for my sister's birthday and we decided to have a low key dinner to celebrate. So we headed over to this Kenosha classic for some tasty Italian grub. I love this place. Still classic. Still warm. Still welcoming. The first room which is the bar area got a bit of an update, but still matches the rest of the restaurant. The main dining room flanked with big, round booths reminiscent of a classic supper club, welcomed is in. Dark and sultry, the room calls for an Old Fashioned or a Tom Collins. Our server, JC was fantastic. She was friendly and patient as we laughed and celebrated. It took us a while to get to the menu and she didn't mind. The food is as good as ever. I love the house vinaigrette on my salad. Mojos were spot on. We also tried pizza, fried chicken and fettuccine. Everything was perfect. I was disappointed that the relish tray is only available for purchase off the menu, as it used to arrive on your table complimentary. Salads are also ala carte now too. We dined just after Halloween so the dining room was super decorated like it is for every holiday. I love the energy put into the festive flair this restaurant has always given. Holiday decor is everywhere!! The bottom line is this: Villa D' Carlo or Carl's as the locals say, is the real deal. Great food wrapped in wonderful memories!

Great gnocchi! Great service. Cheese soup a bit heavy for my taste. Plenty of parking.

Best place to get a thin crispy cornmeal crust! And can't beat the location and view of the lake while you enjoy your pizza

Walking in, we were transported to an exotic Palestinian dining room. Fabric draped everywhere, enchanting music playing and the delicious smells wafting in from the kitchen. Our server who is also the owner was incredibly personable. He shared stories of his heritage, answered all of the questions we had and described different dishes with such detail. Everything we ordered was delicious. The beverages were so unique. The mint lemonade was almost like a smoothie. The grape leaves were full of flavor but still delicate. The hummus was truly the best we have ever had. It was light, smooth and beautifully presented. Our entrees were so fresh and delicious. The portion sizes were very generous, so we had another meal the next day. I'm not sure what I loved most - the cuisine or the service. Together they made our visit fantastic!

I thought their tabouli and hummus with meat was the best. Their falafel was good and we even enjoyed some knafa at the end. The booths allowed for privacy to speak to your party but it seemed that everyone was engaged with one another. It's very friendly and it was delicious.

Low bar features comfy and accessible swivel chairs instead of bar stools. Very nice bartenders and top shelf beers and booze. There are no steps to navigate to enter restaurant itself (as well as the dining area), but there are two steps to climb to reach the small bar area. A railing would be helpful here. Dining is also a delight. A nice menu offers a variety of entrees and appetizers, German and American fare. Seafood is also very well prepared. Friendly waitstaff work hard and are very efficient. Water is refilled constantly. We had a schnitzel, scallops, house salad, and one awesome spinach salad topped by a perfect Strawberry Schaum Torte dessert on a recent busy Saturday. Can't wait to revisit to House of Gerhard when we return to Kenosha County.
