I got contact dermatitis from their method of waxing and had to spend part of my Thanksgiving in immediate care and get prescribed a topical cream and anti-inflammatory medication. Luckily, I went to the hospital within a couple of days after the waxing and I got the proper attention before an infection set in. I've never experienced this ever in my life and that pain was absolutely horrible. The women were so nice and so accommodating, especially since it had been over 4 months since my last wax. But even the first time I got waxed and the other couple of times I returned after a break from waxing, never before had I had such an adverse reaction. I mean that area hurt so much because it was so inflamed and swollen and even leathery to the touch!! I think I had this reaction because she used hard wax in that area (the outer labia) and damn, girl went in with hella layers and I remember thinking oh my, this is new, since usually they only put on a couple of layers or so. But i didn't question it because I mean she's the professional, right? I do want to mention that my skin is sensitive, but I also want to emphasize that my skin has never, ever reacted this way before to either hard wax or soft wax. I've had plenty of bad experiences and again nothing compare to this. Well it's now Black Friday and i have my granny panties on and lathered hella topical cream down there, but I am feeling much better. This is just a warning that they may not be as experienced with their technique as one would like and hopefully it doesn't happen to anyone else!! read more

Bought a Groupon and that's how I came across this place. Upon arriving to the appointment I was contacted by the person who would be doing the wax, asking if I could come in 20 minutes late. I couldn't as I had arrived 20 minutes early. Overall I waited 40 minutes till I was serviced. Wax was decent. Did notice some irritation and bumps shortly after. Didn't think of that too much but definitely not happy with that either. Upon checking out, I had the Groupon to redeem but still wanted to leave a tip. Come fo find out only cash, Venmo, zelle/quickpay are the only methods that are accepted. I however had a credit card on hand only. Point is that was never communicated let alone mentioned in Groupon. Customer service could be a tiny tad better/friendlier. read more

So I booked an apptmt via lifebooker...my go to for great spa deals. www.lifebooker.com/referral/sleopold22 It was $52 for a European facial...fairly cheap and I got to use my reward dollars. The space is confusing. It's inside Sorelle. There's a random set of stairs off to your right when you walk in, but no sign. I had to ask the front desk of Sorelle. The waiting area is meh. A random couch just kind of sitting there. It seemed haphazard. Also, there was no receptionist...which I kind of expected, but I just didnt know where to go or what to do. I am a nazi with time. She was running about 10 mins behind. Boo! Plus, I was on a tight schedule. The facial itself...well I have had a TON of facials and this was the most PAINFUL and unrelaxing as it gets. She used a tool on my face...which I don't mind. However, I do tend to get blackheads and she was scraping my face off. The bad thing about tools is I dont think they know how much pressure they are putting on your face. Literally I was wiggling around on the table like a little kid, tears streaming down my face...YOW! Omg, the worst ever. Like dug out my face...which I typically like, but it has never been this painful. Maybe steaming for longer would have helped open up the pores...? Also, she should have asked me because my face was red for two plus days. I had to wear makeup to cover up the redness. The massage part of the facial was really minimal. After she dug at my face for like 15 mins, it was like wipe, clean, and put on a serum. Overall, I don't think I would go back because it was SO painful...but she really got out a lot...you decide. I was in the mood for a relaxing spa experience and instead got tortured. HA! My blackheads are like almost nonexistent, but I am not sure it was worth the pain. read more

I bought a groupon for a Brazilian here, and considering it was my first experience, I wasn't disappointed. I walked in and the lady (I forget her name but she had brown hair. But that probably doesn't help at all) was with another client. I had been contacted by them in the morning asking if I could bump my appointment back because someone was sick, and it showed. She was running around trying to check out one client, help the one before me, and apologize to me for running late. I didn't mind, she was super sweet and gave me a glass of wine. I love free wine. My appointment ended up being about 15 minutes behind schedule. When I was up, she shook my hand and introduced herself (which, surprisingly, not everyone does) which I was happy about. She took me into the room, had Justin beiber playing (#belieber) and had me get on the table. Spoiler alert-Brazilians hurt like a biotch. She was quick, professional, and dealt with my squeaks of pain with a smile on her face. Plus she was super easy to talk to despite being all up in my business. While I'm not sure I'll be coming back for the same treatment..I'll definitely be here again. read more

I absolutely love Viktoria Skincare. I have been a customer for almost two years now, and at this point have gotten a facial and microdermabrasion from every esthetician they have on staff. Everyone is so sweet and personable, and takes their time getting to know you and your skin. My skin has improved immensely since I started going to them. I was even able to get a last minute no chip manicure from Zula, right after my facial! Which turned out amazing! Scheduling, rescheduling, or canceling appointments is very easy to do online or over the phone. And I love that they send you an email and text message confirmation/ reminder about your appointment. I have gotten Brazilians in the past- however I'm not sure if it's my skin or their wax. I broke out into a rash after getting service here. I took Benadryl and consulted a physician for an expert opinion. I still have a few abscess that are taking time to heal after receiving a Brazilian from this location. She also did not give me a clean wax- there were many stray hairs that were just left. Jemilia was good with my Brazilian wax for a first time experience here. Really sweet and held a conversation the whole time to make me more comfortable. Few burns after but it went away after a few days. The ladies there though not so nice. They treat white folks differently than blacks I noticed. Not as friendly and receptive as they do with their white clients:( but I don't care cause they have accents so what the heck is the big deal!? I'm just never going back for services after my Groupon deal is over. They are not accommodating as other places I have tried. I bought their Groupon cause it was close to my work so I figured it would've be easier but no. Uhhh, I cannot sing this place enough praises. First time customer, and the service was exceptional. I loved it. I was just telling my fiance how apprehensive I was about showing up for my appt for a Brazilian wax and facial. I was reluctant because as a woman of color you get so many friendly faces but half -assed jobs done on your nether regions, or dropped appts (Bella Bronze I'm looking at you) that you never notice were dropped until you have a serious bush going on and are in dire need for maintenance. It's not like I have Herpes, or any disgusting, pussing, bump situation going on down there. I'm Black, ok but my money is green. You chose to wax hoo-ha's as a business, not me. My bad for even considering your establishment.. is usually how I'm feeling after one of these other places (smile). But not at Viktoria's. I bought a LivingSocial deal for the Brazilian or Facial, but seeing as how Valentine's Day weekend was fastly approaching, I opted for both. I usually go to the Waxing Room which is also awesome but they don't do facials and usually I like to get these once a month services done at the same place. Kseniya..oh, Kseniya. Can we hang? Be bff's? Lol..she made me feel so, so welcome. Tossing out the occasional compliment for my comfort. And the best part, she kept it so real with me. (Also, her Ukrainian accent is so rad). I hadn't grown from my last wax but was a little leary of my peach fuzz because of the most romantic weekend that everyone holds such high standards for. Anywho, she told me w/o attitude, outright that I did not have enough hair to wax and that I would probably lament over my inability to see any results, so she kindly recommended a once over with a razor for the weekend and let it grow out for 2-3wks. Cool. She then began setting up for the MOST relaxing facial. I fell asleep. After, just moments earlier, waking up for these services! Completely delicious, compared to my last facial. The other place aesthetician had the music blaring, I felt like I didn't get the exfoliation I love, and the extractions were bare minimal. Yes, I'm that creep that loves a good extraction. And what do you know? So does Kseniya!! However, she recommended a microderm facial since I was concerned with dryness from winter and moisturizing. I left feeling minty in the face, and so so smooth. I loved it! !! Especially for that deal. I will certainly come back AND recommend to my scary friends. I've been waxing for over 10 years, and I'm really picky about where I go. I've been going to Trim for years and they do a fantastic job. However, I spend $130 every month! I went to Kseniya for a $25 groupon for a brazilian (which I think is still going on, by the way) and she did an amazing job. She's extremely efficient, experienced, and professional. I went back for full leg, underarm, and eyebrows, and she delivered the same exceptional service. It's really easy to get an appointment. I usually do mine the day of or the day before. It's also easy to find street parking nearby. *As far as the previous comment about the strays: Kseniya is very meticulous and definitely attends to stray hairs. If you go more frequently (every 4 weeks), it will hurt less, but you'll have more strays... I think she figures that no one wants to sit there and be plucked for half an hour. If that's the case, she'll certainly do the best she could to leave you as smooth and pain-free as possible. read more

I live right across the street so was hoping this would be my go-to place for facials... It will not be. The first 30 minutes were fine- cleanse, exfoliate, extraction- but then it went downhill. A mask was put on and I was left alone in the room for 17 minutes (clock in the room) to "relax" while the esthetician chatted with a coworker in the lobby outside my door. Are you kidding me? First time customer, Golnara is amazing and so friendly. I usually try to wax my underarms at home but it's so messy. She is reassuring and gentle. No pain at all. The waxes are good...the customer service is sketchy. I had been getting brazilians here regularly for a while - I thought I established a good rapport with the staff. Recently, I had to call and cancel an appointment due to illness and being admitted into the hospital. My appointment was scheduled for 5pm, I called around 11am to let them know that I would need to cancel and the reason why. When I called I was told "well we are going to charge your credit card because you're cancelling in less than 24 hours" No "sorry you're ill" or "would you like to reschedule" I don't know, it just seemed a bit rude to me. I haven't been back since and I don't plan on going back. There are tons of places with good waxes that have better customer service. read more

Had a great Brazilian wax with Gulnara here in July. I only wish I still lived in Chicago so I could get this good of a wax all the time. One very small complaint; I booked my appointment on Lifebooker, but shortly after I received a call from them stating that the times on Lifebooker weren't accurate and asking if I could come at a slightly later time. Fortunately this wasn't an issue for me, and the quality of the wax more than made up for it! I know their regular prices are a bit high, but they have a membership option that allows you to pay less and if I lived in Chicago I would absolutely be on board with that. read more

I got a Brazilian Wax deal from Groupon, Golnara did my wax and she did an amazing job. She was very nice and we talked the entire time. She made me feel very comfortable and cracked jokes through out the process. She is a perfectionist, she makes sure to get very little hair without hurting you. The reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is because they tried to charge me a fee of $2.75 for using Groupon. Yeah right that was some straight BS!! I've used Groupon plenty of times and never heard of a fee. They are trying to get over on ppl so BEWARE. Still, my 3 stars go to Golnara, great job girl! read more

I will not be returning as I feel completely taken advantage of. I tried this place on a groupon. I had a great facial and booked a second appt. and full price. My second appt is where they take advantage of you. When I arrived I mentioned that I wanted an extraction for a bump on my cheek. Throughout the facial I was wondering why there was no steam on my face to hydrate it. She then put a chemical peel on me, without informing me of the charge. When I asked if there was a charge, I was told its included. Great. Next she said I need collagen, and she proceeded with the treatment. Once again, I asked about pricing..., told no up charge. After she apples the collagen I am shocked to learn that the collagen treatment takes 30 minutes. That would have been nice to know up front as I had expected a 1 appt and made plans. She stayed in the room with me for 30 min. You would think that in the 30 minutes, I would get a hand or foot massage. Nope. I finally asked what time it was, and I was now 30 mins late for my next appt. Here's the shocker... I finish and they want to charge me $200!!!!. Are you kidding me!!! I booked the same facial as I originally had and was expecting $85 charge. They took advantage and lacked communication through the process. Even after I asked for the extraction, I was disappointed that she did nothing. This is not my first rodeo. I have had plenty of facials in my life, but never shocked at the price tag like I was today. I will not be returning. read more

I only came here once, it was with a groupon a while ago, I was charged Tax at the end of visit and had to come out of pocket, on top of that I sat and waited for over 45 minutes for my appointment time with Gulnara (I may have butchered the spelling of her name) she did not even apologize for being late and I was told the City of Chicago requires "tax" to be paid on services. Really? Because I've been to tons of other places in the city, that don't charge tax. Needless to say, I have not gone back to this place and I would never recommend it to anyone. The prices are also crazy high. Almost $80 for soft strip wax? C'Mon seriously here. This place is a joke. read more
