I really enjoy skating here and it gives me nostalgia when I skated at a place like this when I was a kid. I go on adult night, so I don't get tripped up by any kids. One thing to keep in mind is that you can not bring any outside drinks into the seating area. I take my bottle of water and the employees store my bottle behind the counter in the front. Not a big deal, I just have to go to the front to get a drink. I do wish they played more games on the rink, I have only seem them play games one time since I have been roughly five times. I like the music selection and if you recommend a song to the DJ, they might play it. They luckily played my song that I asked for. Just make sure you tell them ahead of time because it might not be played for awhile. read more

The prices are cheap but they can't get their act together. Everything is outdated and the skates are years old and hardly sanitized. Brought my own skates forever until one day they randomly said the axels were "too long" and didn't let me take them in. Happened to other people too. Employees are very passive aggressive to me. I would not recommend going here unless you want an easy place to skate as its the only rink in Redding. read more

Been going here since I was a kid, I'm in my 30s now. And today was the first time it was absolutely horrible.. the worker with the short brown hair and glasses ruined the experience for my kids. She was soo rude as soon as we got there to go get skates and constantly gave us attitude and kids couldn't have fun! She was very unhappy! And it affected our experience today!! Someone gave the Karen's a little bit of power here and now they are on a trip. from the fact that I could not even bring in a water while I watch my kids to the constant reprimands for having fun. This place really know how to suck the fun out of a day. I have no problem purchasing food and drink which I do every time I've visited. The fact that they won't let an adult in to watch their children with a coffee which they don't serve or a water from home is ludicrous. read more

I have been skating here since they opened in 1974. The owners really care about giving the community kids a safe clean place to come and play and the staff is always pleasant and helpful. We love their adult night skate on Thursdays from 7-9:30pm for 18+, there's no small children to trip over. I just wish they had open skating more than Thursday-Sunday. read more

It is so expensive to go there and skate for such little amount of time. Overpriced on all snacks. The rented out skates are probably the original skates from when they first opened... You definitely don't get your money's worth at this place, especially for birthday events!! You only get maybe an hour in a stuffed up, no air circulation or air conditioning in the party room to do cake and presents. They up scaled their prices tremendously, and definitely not as fun as it was back in the 90's and 2000's. read more

Used to love going as a child and teen and now I take my 2 daughters. My 6 year old is newly obsessed with Saturday nights skate and dance. Even tho it's mostly older kids, everyone was very kind and helpful to her. All the staff including the older teenagers that work the snack bar and even the security guys, they all are very nice and helpful. They keep the older kids in line while also being sensitive to the younger ones. I highly recommend the place for a fun family outing. The prices are very very reasonable. read more

The actual skating rink was fun and such a vibe. We Rented out for a birthday party and our hostess Andie was very rude and snoody. Didnt provide appropriate supplies like cups, plates, forks, etc. She rolled her eyes at us when we asked to have a knife to cut the cake and also gave an 7 y/o a lighter to bring to us to light the candles. She acted like we were inconveniencing her when we paid 360+ dollars for the 2 hr reservation. Also she told us since our time was up we had to eat our cake outside (20+ people) as well as charged an extra $60 for "additional guests" then left and sent another server in to tell us we needed to exit the room. Not worth the money at all. Plan birthdays elsewhere cause the attitude of the employees sucked. read more

Welp, I've been here before for birthday partys but, tonight I actually skated. 48 know and stoped skating at 20. Use to be a speed skater at cal skate in Milpitas, CA. Anywayz, the people at Viking skate are very nice. The D.J. needs sum work on her selection of songs. The food was pretty good but, staff at the snack bar seemed very unorganized. The big thing in this place is the flooring. If I could give a 0 just for the floor I would. Floor needs alot of work of refinishing and seal coating. Besides that they could use more benches by the arcade area. read more

My daughter wanted to have her birthday party here. Didn't book a party because prices are outrageous for what you get, which is 2 pitchers of soda and skating. Got there and discovered that they are stuck in the 80s not only in decor, but also in the fact that it is cash only. Got past that and started to enter. A couple of her friends were carrying their gifts in with them. We were then told that we couldn't bring the gifts in because we weren't with a paid party. Food is meh for a meh price. Me myself isn't that good at roller skating but my siblings love it so it always makes for a good plan if we don't have something to do on the weekends. Best rink in Redding! They have recently resurfaced the floor, there's a new ceiling and carpeting. They added an Adult skate night with a DJ that plays dance and mix music on Thursday nights from 7PM to 930. I highly recommend supporting this local business. Get in here and get your skate on. I downloaded yelp just to give them a bad review. I come here all the time and just blatantly rude. Wouldn't let me come back in after I paid $20 for my friend and I and let them keep the change. Too many rules, food is nasty, skates are sh*t. Wouldn't let me bring my roller skates or water bottle in that I bring in literally every single week. I feel bad for the kids that work here. They only stay open because there's f*ck else to do in Redding. Will not be coming again and will be telling everyone I know to also not come here. read more

The Saturday morning session for 10 & under is a great value. AND the first song I heard was Ghostbusters! Fun times. Just be sure to warn first-timers that skating is hard and it will take a few visits to get the hang of it. I would not recommend this place we've been going to this place for years and it's went downhill the bathrooms are always disgusting they clean their toilet seats with the same toilet brush that they clean the inside of their toilet with and people set on them not to mention they're never clean it's a rip off none of the games ever work they got half of their games don't work they have like four four games maybe that work it's $10 to skate now there's never anywhere to sit so when you order your food and your drinks and you're having to sit on the floor somewhere to eat and then they want to come tell you you're not allowed to have food and drinks there in that area and on top of that their food is garbage just the cheapest product that they can get and it's nasty has no flavor and no taste it's a rip off I will never go back and spend money there again it saddens me that the place has went downhill that much read more

My son has skated here for years. Every time there's a new DJ the rules change. Most recently, what is ok with same DJ for several days is suddenly not. For a kid with autism, that causes issues and anxiety. Too bad, since a lot of money has been spent there and I see none of it going back into the rink. Far out place to skate. Unfortunately, the owners don't spend a dime on renovation. So every thing's pretty old, run down and dirty. If you're a germaphob, bring a handi-wipe or two. There are very little video games and a small concession stand with a moderate choice of junk food. The music isn't appropriate for "skating", I'd appreciate something more along the lines of disco or anything from the 70's. Maybe it's just not popular enough. I'm trying my hardest. read more

It's really fun and well priced. There is a video arcade, snack bar, and air hockey. Cleanliness could be improved. Renovations are definitely needed and they need to turn the sound down as it is way to loud. Overall it's the only place to skate in Redding so it's fun to go once in a while. read more

The price is right - that much I can say. It was perfect for taking kids to. However, it is very dated, pretty dingy feeling and a little warm inside. I realize Redding is a pretty hot place and the AC bill must be high but I'm usually cold and I was sweating most of the time. I probably would given 3 stars due to the fact that it is the only place around to roller skate but I was very disappointed with their program. I've never skated in the same direction the entire time before. It wears on one side of your foot and what is the point in only learning how to turn left? Thank goodness Zoolander wasn't there! 3 hours into the session I asked them to switch directions (usually rinks will switch for an extended period of time) and they never did. Finally my sore foot pushed me to get my dad to ask at which point they did reverse the direciton...for ONE song! Out of 3 hours I'd like more than 3 minutes of turning right. Thankfully we all decided to leave at that point. I guess being from the LA/OC area we have a lot more options to choose from. read more

I have taken my family skating here off and on over the years. After a hiatus of a few years we started skating here again...BUT IT IS OVER. My complaint is that the music is PAINFULLY TOO LOUD making it necessary to yell at whomever you are attempting to talk to. On the rink communication is impossible over the music pushing the audio system past distortion. The public address system shares the speakers and blasts announcements at an equally sonic warp that could awaken any deceased animal in past history. I attempted to discuss the concerns with the owner while in the refreshment concession. Owner and former State Senator Maurice Johannessen strained to hear me over the wailing sound system and proclaimed he didn't see a problem. Maybe he hasn't received a notice of complaint for a hearing injury lawsuit. That he could see. So, my recommendation with my ears still ringing is go elsewhere or wear earplugs. Ok venue just beyond acceptable, painful volume. In all fairness I went to the App Store and purchased a sound meter. The meter shows a continuous level of 88 decibels and peaks at 96. Sounds at these levels should be at less than 2 1/2 hours. Use your judgement and earplugs. read more
