I use Yelp regularly and In Jan 2020 I needed service to my furnace. I saw the great reviews for Viking Mechanical so I had called Lars the owner and set up a non-emergency appointment for them to come to my home and look at the noise from my furnace blower. Two men, not Lars came looked at it and started to fix it. At no time did they give me an estimate of the cost of repair. I was not sure what it would cost but was figuring it would between 200-400 or so. As I watched them fix it they told me that it was the motor so they replaced the motor but the same noise continued which indicated the motor was not the cause of the noise and did not need to be replaced. They then diagnosed it was the blower fan which it was and the cause was the metal had separated a new blower fan was installed and the noise is gone. Once completed they told me the fee is $1023.00 which was due and paid prior to them leaving with no receipt or explanation of the charges. They told me I would get a receipt via email. I never received the receipt and had to contact Lars. After receiving the emailed receipt it had $413.00 for replacement of the blower wheel and $511.00 for replacement of the motor (which did not need to be replaced). It also had a $99.00 service call but no Massachusetts tax or anything else. I obtained an Attorney and it was determined that the cost of the parts replacement is exorbitant and not within industry standards. In order to replace the motor, the blower wheel has to be removed or visa versa. I know this for a fact because I watched them repair the problem. There is an issue of double billing. I contacted Lars via email and was looking for an explanation of charges but the response I received from Lars was "Had a baby yesterday complaint department closed for a while". The attorney sent Lars a registered letter that Lars refused to accept he would not sign for it. but shortly after I then receive an email from Lars offering me some of my money back which he sent me a check. Honesty and trust are two qualities I look for when I hire a contractor I feel they lack here and thankfully my issue was not that expensive. I got my money back solely due to the fact I had to get an attorney involved. SAD. read more

Failing heat pump not keeping up with temperature. I knew I wanted to change to reliable gas furnace. Called a plumber friend who recommended Lars at Biking mechanical. Got a quote and they were ready to go if the furnace, A/C unit was in stock. They had a downed customer so asked permission to delay by a day. They show up with 5 trucks/vans with all the trades represented with 6 tradesmen, removed the failing heat pump and started the install. By 3pm the new system was up and running and they COMPLETELY cleaned removing all the packaging and old system. The next day the circuit breaker popped so Dave the electrician replace the breaker. While the system was starting up, I asked about the wiring for the doorbells. This is a completely renovated house With doorbell wires outside but could not find their destination. Dave with his trusty meters foung the location that the chimes would, run out the lines and then was off!! Having a good recommendation, you hope you get quality work. I got that and so much more that it is easy To give them 6 stars out of 5. Thanks to Lars, Dave and the complete crew for a great experience!! Bob Condon Acton, Ma read more

I learned of Lars from a general contractor. Meeting and dealing with Lars is a breath of fresh air. He is professional, positive and attentive to your concerns. I needed a new air handler and and central air unit. Lars gave me 3 choices and explained the differences between them. Absolutely no sales pressure! On the date of installation in spring his crew arrived and introduced themselves. They got right to work removing the old system and did a remarkable job installing the new system. They brought new pressure treated lumber to but under the air handler in the basement to to keep it from coming in contact with the cement floor! It is a thing of beauty. I am writing this review AFTER a full cooling season and could not be more pleased. From start to finish Lars and Viking Mechanical exceeded my highest expectations! read more

From start to finish, the experience with Viking Mechanical was nothing short of excellent. Their communication stood out right away--clear, timely, and professional. I always knew what to expect, and they kept me updated every step of the way. The technicians arrived on time, were courteous, and took the time to explain exactly what they were doing and why. They treated my home with respect, worked efficiently, and left everything clean when the job was complete. What impressed me most was their dedication to making sure I fully understood my system and options. They answered every question thoroughly, without rushing, and made the entire process stress-free. I highly recommend Viking Mechanical to anyone looking for reliable HVAC service. Their commitment to outstanding service and top-notch communication sets them apart. read more

VERY pleased with Viking Mechanical. Recommended to me by my contractor as he regularly uses Viking for electric and HVAC projects. I called Viking because rats in our outdoor shed had chewed the wires that run the heating unit to our pool. My pool company originally had me contact the company they use: guy came out, said $500 to replace wires . . . and then didn't contact me again for a week. Happens too often. I don't chase people to do the jobs they agreed to do. So I called Viking, the owner Lars came out to assess the next day, and then the very next day installed new wires, for $150 less than the first company cited. They are my go to for all my HVAC needs now. (And Ryan who usually shows up is awesome too! High Five Ryan! )AAA+++ read more

I have been using Viking for 5+ years. They came highly recommended for their service, and it is true how good they are. I had the gas company convert my home from oil to gas and it was a disaster from the day it was installed. I contacted Lars and he suggested a repair but said I should consider a new system within a few years for the heater installed by gas company was very poor quality. Viking made some repairs and after 2 years I decided to upgrade which turned out to be a great decision. High-quality system with zero issues. I have Viking service my heater every fall and my A/C in the spring. Great company to deal with. read more

Viking always comes through. I've been using Lars' services for 14 years and he is our go to HVAC team. Lars goes the extra mile to locate hard to find parts on very old systems. Our AC motor broke during a heat wave. Within a week the special motor was ordered and our AC was back. The installation of the new motor was tough as the old motor would not separate from the fan. Ryan was so dedicated and spent extra time to get the old motor released, never giving up. The team is very prompt, friendly and professional. Super happy with Lars and team, they are the best. Extremely trustworthy! read more

Another great experience with the Viking Mechanical team. I called to have my annual maintenance completed for my AC unit. Emily answered all my questions and gave me an appointment that fit my schedule. 30 minutes before my scheduled appointment I received a text letting me know Ray was on his way. Ray checked the AC, replaced the systems air filter and washed the outside coils. Before leaving he also made sure everything was working perfectly and that I was satisfied. Viking Mechanical has the best team and I'm always happy with their service! See you in the fall! read more

They are awesome! They have been doing maintenance on my furnace for years; they are always polite and clean. Great communication I know when they are on their way who is coming and they provided me great feedback on my system. Unfortunately they had to deliver bad news to me this time. But they backed it up with photos and knowledge of the age of my system. They provided me options and explained everything. They are very affordable . They replaced my furnace and brought my exhaust piping up to code. They are top notch service! Thanks Lars!! read more

We had our 59 year old boiler replaced with a significantly more energy efficient one and our old hot water heater for a stainless steel unit. Lars was straight forward with his assessment of what he thought would work in our house. He answered all our questions and when the time came for the install his employees were professional, communicative and left my basement in the same way they found it. i would recommend Viking Mechanical without hesitation. Hoping to use them again in the spring for a mini split. read more

Viking arrived on the same day I called them. I originally was asking them for a second opinion on a quote from a different company. They were able to find the problem right away with my heating system, ordered the parts and returned the next day to fix everything. Even running out to get a few more parts and completing the repair the same day. I haven't received a bill from them yet, but i guarantee it is cheaper than the quote from the first company. I'm very happy with Viking Mechanical. read more

If I could rate these guys 10 stars I would. The owner, Lars, is incredibly knowledgeable, gave us a respectable quote for an emergency boiler and water heater replacement, and got the job done in record time. They also had to remove our old boiler which required a bit of engineering and even a backhoe to get it out of our basement. This company is one of the best home improvement vendors we have ever worked with: courteous, conscientious, efficient, and talented. Highly highly recommend! read more

I am glad that I found Viking Mechanical to service my heat pump. After being told by 2 other techs that the slow leak is from the line set and they recommended to replace them. I seeked out to VM and Lars came out today and he quickly within 5 minutes and already found the leak in one of the schrader valve. He then recommended to not go any further into pressure testing until next season. I found Lars to be a very honest tech with no BS. I highly recommend him. read more

Lars saved us last year when we came home from a weekend away at the beginning of March, to no heat in our home. Not only was our house at 50 degrees, but it was the day before a big snowstorm was going to hit. We called Lars, and he came out and fixed the problem. He is extremely personable, kind, and his prices are very fair. We will be using Lars for our annual furnace tune-ups, and any future HVAC projects! Thanks, Lars! read more

Lars (& his team) has stood by us and our furnaces for years. Lars has always been very helpful and responsive. We are especially grateful for his help this time around when we reported smelling propane outside our house and he instructed us to turn off the propane and he would come check it out. He helped locate the system that was failing even though it wasn't related to a furnace, after all. Thanks for keeping us safe Lars! read more

Called Viking to come to my house to fix a heating problem. Lars and his assistant did an excellent job of diagnosing the problem and resolving it. Both my wife and I were extremely impressed by the professionalism and efficiency displayed by Viking. Further, Lars is very pleasant and outgoing and takes the time to explain what the problem is and how much it will cost to fix it. Overall, a job well done by Viking. read more

I can't say enough good things about Lars and his crew and the new air conditioning system they installed in my home this spring. We are selling our house and needed a review of our heating system. Viking was willing to take a look, at short notice, give a comprehensive review and recommendation of repairs. They were efficient, kind, and very reasonable. In a time where trusting a company is priceless, I wholeheartedly recommend Viking Mechanical as a company of expertise and integrity.5 read more
