I can't say enough great things about Vidal Construction. Vidal Construction is a professional, communicative team that cared for us from the moment we reached out to them. Our roof was damaged in the last big storm of early winter 2023. The previous roof was only about five years old and did not last through the high winds we had, which were not bad to begin with. We had used a different company that we have since learned took many shortcuts, and that showed in their pricing. Our contact, Joey Vidal, worked within our budget and with our insurance quote while providing us with high-quality products that we needed without giving us options that we didn't need. Once we agreed on the work, we were quickly added to their schedule, and the team arrived on the scheduled day. They spent a few hours on prep, removing gutters and shutters, then arrived the next day and began work. They stayed late and almost completed the job in one day, but needed to come back the next morning, completing the job in less than two days. The entire time, Joey kept us up to date via phone calls and text messages and provided drone pictures of the roof. Everyone we worked with was courteous and respectful of our time. After the work was complete, Joey and his son returned to scout around the perimeter of the house to look for errant nails and leftover material that may have fallen and not been cleaned up. The final step was a complimentary pressure wash of our driveway. This was much appreciated since we are unable to do that right now due to water restrictions. Once the work was completed to our satisfaction, we were presented with the final bill, and Joey even stopped by to pick up the check so I didn't have to drive to the office or drop a large check in the mail. Lazy, bossy, unorganized. I had a plumbing leak. After a month of another company dried out and removed damaged walls, they came in and did their worst. It may have been an insurance claim, but that does not justify the lousy service I got. They had only one person at a time come in and do any one thing, while there was a crew of four that just sat around and did nothing. This guy did very little, and took his time doing it. They told me what color to paint my kitchen and cabinets, and did a lousy job doing it. They took six weeks for a job that could have been done in half the time. i would give zero stars if i could. I worked with Vidal last summer. The project was supposed to take 6 weeks and took 12. The workers were nice but they were constantly lying about the reason behind delays, used unlicensed plumbers putting my home at risk, and ultimately the work is extremely subpar in quality. Less than 6 months after the work, multiple kitchen cabinets fall fallen off, paint is chipping, and they are very slow to answer questions despite warranty. We wanted to provide feedback regarding our experience with Vidal Construction, a company referred to us by USAA. They are extremely unprofessional and don't do quality work. We've worked with other contractors prior to this who did good solid quality work. Vidal does not. Here are some of the issues that occurred: - [ ] Spray foam insulation done incorrectly-. Tried to fix it with a spray can of Home Depot foam which we caught on our Ring camera. - [ ] 3 different painters came in before the paint was done correctly. The first painter left splotches of paint on the ceilings and covered them with the incorrect color of ceiling paint. The second did the same. The third came in and just repainted the ceiling which we had asked them to do after the first painter. - [ ] Trim work took 2 weeks!! There wasn't very much to replace. - [ ] 2 of the cabinets had to be redone due to incorrect measurements. - [ ] When the cabinets were installed, the installers tried to hide the fact that the peg holes of one cabinet and were off so that the shelves wobbled. They had to return to fix the issue - [ ] The cabinet maker forgot to make 2 under sink slide outs that had been in our original cabinets. - [ ] There was overspray on the cabinets and when installed the installer never covered and touched up the nail holes. - [ ] Workers took our original sinks and faucets even though they were in perfect condition. - [ ] Vidal wanted us to sign the check when they weren't finished with the job. - [ ] Workers never showed up during the time window stated - [ ] Workers would show up unannounced and many times we couldn't accommodate them due to our own appointments. - [ ] During the project we had 3 different project managers. - [ ] It took 5 months to complete the bathroom. Yet again the WORST experience with this company. Our bathroom STILL isn't done and had to be deconstructed yet again, because deconstruction wasn't completed in the first place. We had a very positive experience with Vidal Construction in Austin. Our house flooded during an ice storm and was subsequently totally gutted. Our main contact person, Joey, was very easy to work with, professional, and responsive to any questions or concerns we had along the way. I am writing an update to my previous review on Vidal Construction. After speaking with April, the office manager I found out that she was not made aware of my dissatisfaction from the project manager about my job. April brought the issue to Mr. Vidal's (the owner) attention. He personally came out to my home to assess the situation. He acknowledged that the work that was done was unacceptable & apologized profusely. In addition, he told me that the crew that was sent out to do my repairs were a new sub-contractor that Vidal Const. had hired who promised they could "hang the moon" so he gave them a chance. I guess folks will say anything to land a job. He then recruited the best of the best flooring and drywall crew and sent them out to my home to re-do the work. Needless to say, I am VERY satisfied. These guys were professional, hard working, knowledgeable, prepared & cleaned up after themselves. They knocked out the project in no time & it looks fantastic! Vidal Construction has completely redeemed themselves in my book. I've changed my rating to 5 stars because they deserve it. Mr. Vidal takes his business very seriously. Unfortunately he was deceived to by the original subcontractors about their abilities, skills & experience. His company gave them an opportunity & they failed. They couldn't follow thru on their promises but Mr. Vidal did. He promised complete satisfaction and that's what I got in the end. I'm glad everything worked out like it did. They handled everything for us from the roof, to the gutters, to assistance with removing our solar panels. They also worked with the insurance company on our behalf. Our project manager, Joey Vidal, was amazing. He and the office manager brought all explanations down to a level of understanding, as insurance lingo and procedures can be very confusing at times. The communication was outstanding. There has also been continual follow-up after the completion of the job, including after recent heavy rains, to ensure we had no leaks in the attic or other issues. Our house had a pipe burst during the winter storm in February 2021. Vidal Construction was sent to our house by USAA to do an estimate on the cost of repairs. For context we had a 1/2 pipe wide open pouring water into the ceiling between the upstairs and downstairs for 10 minutes which is about 500 gallons of water in my ceiling that went down into my walls and into my wood floors and into my kitchen cabinets. The "adjuster" from Vidal came into my home and told us all about how he owned a food truck that sold tacos last year. He also told us about how they don't have enough skilled labor to actually do the work. He said that they were going around trying to hire anyone they could to do all this work from the winter storm. Not surprisingly the estimate that the taco truck guy gave to USAA was criminally negligent- less than 10% of the actual cost to repair my house- according to over 10 different experts we have spoken with since. The taco truck adjuster told us that he could easily match the 35 year old oak hardwood flooring in my living room and dining room. When we questioned him about how to do that he said that they would refinish the existing floors and make it all match. He did not include refinishing the floors in his ridiculously low repair quote. I have talked to multiple different flooring experts and all of them actually laughed out loud at the suggestion of matching the 35 year old existing oak hardwoods. He did not even notice that multiple cabinets were damaged with warped wood. Several of my cabinets are not usable because of the warping. One drawer in my kitchen does not even go into the cabinet now. I have now spoken to 6 different cabinet companies and carpenters and NONE of them agree with fixing the cabinets. All 6 cabinet specialists have said that it's not possible to match 35 year old custom cabinets and agree that the cabinets all need to be replaced. I am currently in a battle with USAA to have them pay to fix my house because of the incompetence- at best- of this "contractor." NEVER LET THESE PEOPLE INTO YOUR HOME. read more

Vidal was recommended to my wife and I by USAA after a plumbing leak. We needed to have new drywall put up in the kitchen and the ceiling. After the initial visit, it was a month before they came out to start the work. Upon arrival, there were 4 or 5 guys to show up, only for 1 of them to stick around and do the work. In the beginning we were told it would take two days. I believe the work was started on a Tuesday. After the second day, they kept adding a day to the work. That weekend, the project manager came to do a walk through. I pointed out some areas that needed more attention. He told me he'd communicate that with the guy doing the work. I showed him areas where you could see through the thin layer of paint they applied. He told me insurance allows them one coat of paint, but if we wanted another coat to let them know and they would come back out to apply another one. I also asked if there would be anyone else to come out and help with the job considering we were already at four days. He said nobody else would be coming, that the guy on the job could handle it. When I got home that next Monday, the guy had finished and left. I was not at all impressed with work he'd done. The Sheetrock that was installed in the ceiling was blotchy and sloppy where the wall and the ceiling met, and did not look like it was done by a professional. The cleanup was very minimal on their end, so I had to come home and wipe down everything in the kitchen every day until they were done. Also, there were cigarette butts left all over the yard. I told them I was ok to sign off on the job because I didn't want them to come back, I just wanted them out of there. Vidal was recommended through the website USAA so we thought they would be reputable. We had a roof leak which ran into the house and exited though light switch. First of all the estimator, was the best part of the experience and was timely. After this it went all pear shaped! The official estimate took a couple of weeks to get to us. We wanted a change made to the included items before the work started which took another couple of weeks. And the rain keeps coming! We were given a date and time for the work to begin which was 10 days later, but it was raining! Mr. Vidal came by with his technician to schedule another day and time. Great we thought, but the workers were a no call no show. After another phone call, another appointment was made and once again the workers were a no call no show. And the rain keeps coming! My husband was able to rig a system to drain out the water but where were the professionals? After 2 months had passed we gave up on Vidal and called Roof Fix. Joey (the project manager) educated me on the process and offered to be around while the adjuster did the inspection to ensure all damage had been documented. After finalizing the details Joey coordinated the removal of my solar panels and scheduled my roof repair. Throughout the whole process Joey and team remained in close contact and updated us every step of the way. The team came in, completed the project ahead of schedule and made sure all debris had been removed. A pipe burst in my home and I had to have some dry wall and carpet installation work done. I Chose Vidal to work on my house because they were up next in my insurance company's list. They were EXTREMELY slow to get started. The Project Manager was hard to reach and almost never answered the first time you called. What was supposed to last only a few days took five because the guy who was working the drywall ran into personal problems and missed a day. The Project Manager didn't want to bring someone new because he said it would be hard for the to pick up where the other one left off!! I won't even go into detail about the carpet, let's just say it's probably a good thing it is in the closet and I had no qualms replacing it when I had the rest of the rooms done. When they finished the job, the guys left all the garbage and leftover material on my porch. I'm talking about two big black garbage bags, left over carpet and padding and a large amount of drywall. Project Manager called and told me it would be picked up the next day. Fast forward, almost 4 months later and guess what? The majority of the leftover material is still in my possession, I managed to get rid of the trash bags, but I still had the remaining items. They FINALLY called me about payment, but only because, the insurance company sent them a check I needed to endorse, that is how I FINALLY got rid of the rest of the trash! I will admit that the gentlemen who did the drywall did an AMAZING job and he was very polite to my mom (she was there to oversee things) and she said he always cleaned up behind himself. Carpet installer, not worth talking about since the job was not done well. The Project Manager NEVER stopped by while the workers were there nor did he do a final inspection or follow up with me to see if I was happy. If you pick this company to work on your home, set your ground rules upfront and make sure you have the number of the Project Manager's supervisor because you will need it.
