    Fascia repair, pre-paint.

I've worked with many contractors and handymen in the past, and Paul's company, A More Excellent Enterprise, is hands down one of the most exceptional. Paul was not only the most responsive contractor I've ever used, but he was also one of the most knowledgeable and friendly. I hired Paul for some fascia work, and his expertise and quick problem solving skills saved me a lot of time and extra money. If you're ever in need of high-quality handyman or carpentry services, A More Excellent Enterprise should be at the top of your list.

We initially had a good impression of Paul--he was communicative, punctual, and offered a fair price with a better timeline than other vendors we contacted for installing a concrete pad for our shed under our new deck. When he arrived, I walked him through the project, emphasizing that the pad needed to be level or higher than the back footers to prevent soil erosion and water runoff onto the pad. I also mentioned that minimal digging would be required, just some light raking as we needed post construction cleanup and were going to remove rocks and bring in more soil to raise the levels of our yard. Despite this, Paul kept asking for the dimensions repeatedly (even thought my husband had already provided them), so I re-sent them via text, including a line drawing of the pad to clarify the layout. He still seemed uncertain, so I asked again if he needed any further clarification or if he needed anything else from me. Instead, he just asked me for water, which I gave him since it was decently warm outside, then asked for half the payment upfront--$300--before leaving to get supplies, which was surprising since we expected him to come prepared. While at Home Depot, Paul called my husband to suggest a thicker pad for an additional cost, even though this wasn't what we requested. My husband declined, reminding him that we had already agreed on a price and asked him to stick to our original plan. Later, when my husband came home, he noticed the framing and that Paul had left again to get more materials. He couldn't tell where they were in the project and assumed everything was still on track, so he went back inside. However, we were surprised when Paul later texted asking if we had a bucket and hose for them to use, which we didn't. The next day, after removing the framing, Paul asked for the final payment. When I inspected the work, I was shocked to find the pad nearly two feet below ground level--completely contrary to the instructions we had provided. When I questioned him about this, Paul insisted that a thicker pad would have cost more, and since my husband had refused to pay extra, this was the best he could do. I emphasized that the issue was the pad's placement, not its thickness, and explained that soil would now run onto the pad. I asked Paul if there was anything he could do to fix the situation, but he declined, stating that he had done the job and wanted the remaining $300. I paid him, still hoping he might reconsider and help resolve the issue. My husband called him after coming home and seeing the result, which also did not align with what he had asked Paul to do. He further explained that our concern was the pad's low placement and how it could lead to water and soil entering the shed. He even expressed our willingness to give Paul more work--like installing the shed as initially agreed upon and refinishing our door--if he could make this right. Unfortunately, Paul refused unless we paid him more money, despite already paying him $600 and now having a significant problem on our hands. It felt like a bait-and-switch, where he wasn't prepared with the necessary supplies and then tried to charge us more after the job had started. This experience left us $600 out of pocket with a project that needs to be redone. We now have to find another vendor to correct the pad or demolish it and start over, delaying our other projects. In hindsight, we could have done a better job ourselves, but with our limited time, we trusted Paul to handle it, which turned out to be a mistake. We also contacted our landscaper, who came out immediately to assess the pad and see what could be done to regrade the soil and trenches Paul left behind. Unfortunately, the landscaper also stated that the pad was too low and that there was nothing he could do to regrade without burying the pad, especially since we already needed more soil to relevel the yard from erosion. The cost of cleanup is now going to be higher than originally quoted. Maybe Paul does better at other jobs, but I would not recommend him for concrete work.

Could not be more impressed with A More Excellent Enterprise and the concrete slab they poured for my father-in-law this week! Paul worked non-stop, even after dark to crank out a quality slab of perfect dimensions to store the waste bins! He also volunteered and completed the gravel ramp to make it easier to store the bins on the pad and to preserve the front edge of the pad from wear and tear. He was very reasonably priced, communicative, and an extremely hard worker! I would absolutely recommend him and I'm sure they will be using him again in the near future!

Paul was great. He knows what he's doing. We bought a cheap shed and hubby didn't want to do it. Paul worked in the 100°+ temperatures to get it done.
