I have been to this salon several times over the years and the quality has been inconsistent, as has the price. The same service is being charged differently every single time I go. Overall, they don't get the color right, it seems they don't listen but give you the color they find better suited for you rather than what I requested. Same with cuts. Most of the clients I see have the same haircut leaving. Playing to a middle aged clientele. Initially I went back because the price was a good deal. But now I have been paying the same as elsewhere. I have been going to Vida's Salon for at least 15 years. After my first appointment I was sorry that I hadn't been going to Vida sooner. My hair color has NEVER looked better or more natural. I usually get a treatment to keep my hair in great condition and it shows. Vida and her staff are masters of blow drying. I have consistently received compliments on my hair and have referred several friends who became clients, including two who had seriously damaged hair from severe illness and chemotherapy. Wedding Hairstyle Disaster I have been a client of the owner of this salon since 2020. Vida is an excellent hairdresser and a lovely person. But her constant multi-tasking and overbooking takes a toll on the quality of her work and on her customers. Like other clients, I have overlooked these issues because she was worth it. But not for my wedding day. In order to achieve the look I wanted, Vida told me I would have to cut off a significant amount of length of my hair plus buy extensions to add volume. I agreed and allowed her to cut my hair short and I bought the extensions she told me to. Two days later I was scheduled for highlights so Vida asked me to bring the extensions and she would trim them to match my hair length then. After coloring my hair, Vida had one of her stylists blow dry my hair. It was then that another of her stylists came to tell me Vida didn't have time to trim my extensions. I asked when she would have time and was told she didn't know. This was a Thursday and I wasn't getting married until Saturday. Yet there was no time Vida knew of when she would be able to trim the extensions. She herself said I had to have the extensions, told me to buy them, (they are non-returnable), and said she would trim them (there were only 4 small clips which should have only taken 10 minutes max). I can only assume this was because of her overbooking issues. When the blowout was finished the highlights were not as planned ( Vida didn't bother to look at my hair after it was dried) and the styling was poor. I was frantic by this time so I brought my issues to the woman checking me out. After she spoke with Vida, Vida did not come to talk with me. She just kept on cutting another client's hair while she yelled across the room that I had not made an appointment for a blowout. I am not sure what that had to do with anything. But It was so embarrassing that I just left. I hoped that I would hear from her on Friday, asking me to come in to finish the work she promised to do. She did not. Needless to say, my hair was a disaster for my wedding. Update 10.30.24 Reply to Vida Salon's Response There are no lies or misrepresentations in my review. I told the truth about Vida being an excellent hairdresser as well as everything else in my post. But all that aside, the bottom line is Vida did not provide the service she recommended to me and that she committed to perform - trimming the extensions, (which have since been successfully dyed to match my hair color). And she did not offer to redo the poor blowout. Her reason for both of these things was she didn't have time. Even though those could have been done in the afternoon of my appointment or the next day. Vida herself chose not to do those things and she chose not to be concerned about the negative impact on my wedding day. read more

After extensive consultation (including photos) about my desired color, my naturally ash blonde (level 6-7) hair was fried into 10-11 level (I asked for 9). I can hardly comb it out even after three weeks of intensive conditioning treatments including Olaplex. Massive breakage and hair falling out. It took four hours and cost me 50% more than any other stylist has ever charged me ($305 plus tip). And the cut was just so-so. The $5 surcharge for using a credit card was also annoying. I was worried during the highlighting process as her assistants scrubbed my hair with wet towels and added lots of extra heat. I'm not trying to be catty, but I should have known when I saw the stylist's own hair -- dried out and too light for her complexion. On the up side, I saw other people coming and going (she had 3-4 customers simultaneously) with excellent color correction and haircuts. I just did not have a good experience. read more

Best haircut of my life!! I have long hair and have always had trouble with what to do with it. I love the length, but it always just hangs there lifeless. My mom has been going to Vida for over a year now. She has always done a fabulous job on her short hair and highlights. I tried Vida tonight, and I am definitely converted! Yes, Vida is the owner and you can tell she has a hand in everything--isn't that what you want--an owner who cares about everything going on?!! The haircut took a little time, so be patient. My way to expensive downtown salon was not paying attention to my color and the time it was left on my hair and turned my hair midnight black ((from light brown) !!! I have had the privilege of going to Vida Salon for 20 years. I go once a week and absolutely love the way my hair turns out each and every week from coloring to hair cuts to weekly blowdrys. The fabulous part about Vida is how she trains her associates. They are all very good as I have tried all of them through out the years. You will not be disappointed. Called to make an appointment earlier today, and was surprised to hear that Jessica could take me same day - 4:45. This wasn't my first time there; Evelyn had been doing my hair, but she moved. I arrive promptly at 4:45 and put on a smock. At 5:15, Jessica was nowhere near completing blow-dry for her client, so I go back to the dressing room. The receptionist knocks on the door and says that she can wash my hair. "No thank you" was my reply. I would still be there waiting for Jessica once that shampoo was done. My boyfriend gets his hair colored here and thought I'd give it a shot. Really thought it was a great place with the very sweet and professional front desk person. I go in for my color and TOLD them ahead of time what I wanted....BLOND & NOT BRASSY and even gave them a specific formula they could convert IF they wanted. They INSISTED I was fine and when they rinsed me out, what do you know, I'm BRASSY AS F**K! I told them @ least 5X ahead of time how HARD it was to make my hair BLOND. So my hair is practically RED (this happens when they do it the WRONG WAY) & they roll their eyes & resentfully had a NICE assistant put bleach on me for 15 mins. My hair turned out AWESOME & she knew the problem and FIXED it! In addition, she talked me into a dry haircut which I needed but was going to wait for and did another AWESOME job. I know the owner was talking about me being difficult because she and the client she was working on kept looking at me giving me "looks," and laughing. I'm not an idiot I know what they were doing....& this is the owner! On top of it, I go to pay the 125$ for the services that could have been MUCH more pleasant and I tell the front desk "I'm sorry for being difficult, but when you are used to 1 person doing hair for 8 years, somewhere new can be nerve-racking!" Being so nice! She said NOTHING & was a total PASSIVE-AGGRESSIVE BITCH to me! Just for wanting my hair the RIGHT FREAKING COLOR! Stay away! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE!!!! let me set up the scene for y'all... It's Christmas Time. I needed my hair done badly. Iv never been here before. I thought I'd give it a try. I made an appointment with Vida a week in advanced. She text'd me the following a day later Vida: I have an opening at 315. Me: Is this for Friday? (the following day) Vida: Yes Me: I can do it! Me: Yay! Thank you! Vida: ok my be next appt. Hmmm. Ok. I'm not sure what her last text is suppose to say. I know phones auto-correct all the time. After all, I said I can do it. I also said yay and thank you. I was excited to get my hair done. I got to thinking about her last text and that maybe I should call her and confirm my appointment. I called Friday morning and said I wanted to confirm my appointment for that afternoon. She said I didn't have one because I said I couldn't do it. She looks back at her texts and apologizes because she realized she read it wrong. Oh well. I'm disappointed but it's a mistake. Good thing I questioned it before I ventured out of my way to go to her. I wanted to confirm I still had my 0815 appointment for Tuesday ( which was in a couple days ). She said yes. Perfect. I decided to set up a family photo session that afternoon after I have my hair done. After all it's Christmas, and it'll be perfect timing with my hair just being done. Tuesday came, I got up, I called with no answer and I textd her indicating I was on my way for my 0815 appt, ( no response from her... No big deal. She might be on the road) I left early because I know traffic is bad, I also value her time and don't want to be late. I arrive early. Sign on door says salon won't open til 0900. Ok.. Not a big deal. I know she is probably just getting people in early for the holidays. 0815 comes around, I see a lady walk in. I give it a minute, and walk in behind her. I acknowledge who I am and say I'm there for my 0815 appointment. It was Vida and she says No no no. She looked totally lost and was confused. She says I called and left a message canceling my appointment on their voicemail. I told her, No, that someone else must have called and canceled their own appointment and they canceled the wrong appointment. The funny thing is... Someone probably did call and canceled their appointment. Now she lost me as a client and she will have someone NO SHOW for some other canceled appointment. Her loss! This entire experience with her was awful! I'm not sure how someone runs a business like that. I was so disappointed more than once! There was no way I wanted her to touch my hair after that. She can't keep a schedule and can't read her own texts. 1 screw up I can deal with but 2 screw ups... There is no way! That is totally unacceptable! It's to bad too. I was hoping for a new hair dresser. I know highlights and cuts are expensive. I was willing to give her my $2400 a year plus tips. I also had friends wanting to know how I liked her because they were willing to change stylist too. I told them not to waste there time with Vida. She has no respect for your time and is a total flake. She will blame her faulty scheduling on you. I'm glad it happened before I ever seen her. I'm grateful she hasn't seen 1 penny from me.
