I'm so glad I found Dominican Hair Studio. I use to drive to Frisco, Tx every week to get my hair done. I was seeking a salon that would provide excellent services and care for my hair and listen to my concerns about my hair. June 10, 2018, I walked into this salon and talked with the owner. Jeny listen to me. I told her my hair was badly damaged and I needed her to see if she could fix it. I was skeptical, but after having a conversation and asking a lots of questions with Jeny, she said, if you give me a few months she could make a difference. I watched her for a few minutes do another client hair. It appeared she took pride in her job. So, I made my appointment for later the same day. I was please with my hair even though my hair was damage. I received tons of compliments. So 6 months later I'm a proud client of Dominican Hair Studio. My hair is much healthier. It is growing and getting fuller. I I have a set appointment for every 2 weeks. I use to go to my other salon weekly. Jeny advised me to come every to weeks. This is unbelievable, I thought this was impossible. WOW...This is a win win. Jeny takes pride in healthy hair. I recommended other clients and they're thrilled to be a client @ Dominican Hair Studio where Jeny is the owner. Finally some fellow NY Dominicans up in Dallas!! Especially hairdressers! I literally went natural because I had no one to do my hair but Jany is great! The salon is new so definitely check her out but the proof is in the pudding! My hair is super silky and soft. The service was quick. I arrived and went straight to the wash seat. The girl that washed my hair and did the roller set was super sweet and we chatted a bunch but she was thorough in washing and did the roller set very neatly and quickly. Jany finished styling me and i LOVE my hair. Disclaimer, the price was higher than I expected so it may limit my frequency but when I need my hair straightened or want to give the curls a rest, I'm going here. I won't go into bashing other stylist but what I will do is let you know that if you live in Garland or Near Garland and you want a quality blowout for a great price, pleeeeeease try this place. They are located on the upper level with plenty of parking. Very responsive to inquiries, booking is easy online, you just have to wait for your confirmation and guess what... NOOOOO DEPOSIT! (Insert happy dance) I was in the sink getting my hair washed as sooooon as I walked in the door and under the dryer after the rollers. I can't tell you how much I absolutely love and my hair thrives off of a roller set. Not the flow dryer for the roots gets hot but she uses a heat protectant. I read every review when it comes to salons & I can say DO NOT believe the negative reviews if there is any! Im mixed Native American & African American so I have a lot of hair (thick & curly) so I have to be on my Ps & Qs when it comes to someone cutting my hair! My hair was damaged AF... I walked in and told her to cut it alll of... she looked at my hair & said not to cut it & that she would get my hair back to life! Little did I know the Dominican Blowout literally DID JUST THAT!!! My hair is so soft, loose curls bounced all night, no frizz no nothing, I literally was feelin myself all night!! They do magic in this salon & are sooooo underrated! Update to my review - I lied I haven't been back every 2 weeks, I've been going to see Janet every week. Soooo... worth it. My style lasts a long time. She is very careful to take care of or repair your hair! Love this place!!! See you again this Saturday!! ------------------------ After having the same stylist who did an average job I was finally ready to find someone who can actually use a hair dryer. I wanted that silky look in posters. I can honestly say I finally found my 'Home' salon. After my first visit I was sold. Not only did I see people walk out satisfied but I did as well. DO NOT GO HERE! Jany the owner has no Pride whatsoever on people's hair nor the time! She cancel my appointment after I had personally had taken the time to be there. She told me that she couldn't color my hair due to dry damage hair. So she had me coming back 7 days after my booked appointment visit. I respected her decision in not doing any work that day so I agreed and waited another week because I believed she was the expert and Boy was I WRONG! I wish I never came here! What they do is wash your hair very hard and rough and than sit you under the dryer to take care of others which that puts your hair under more stress due to the heat. My hair was placed under heat for a total of 3 times for an hour long each time! This is my story... I googled this place before going there very carefully because my hair needed to be toned right after having it bleached three times elsewhere from being originally virgin black hair. I had Jany look at my hair first so that she can tell me if she knew how to do a balayage look which I will show you later in the pictures I will post. She said oh yes that is my expertise and you are in good hands... while a girl named Vikki yelled out you're in good hands in Spanish. My mom was with me that day as my witness! She said I will charge you $250 for the color. I agree not knowing I was in hell! I said in HELL because literally I was after the third bleach and sitting under the dryer! My appointment was at 10am and finished at 7pm and just to have unexperience people touch my hair because they don't know how to do color unless it's a simple root touch up! I came home and put so much oils to moisture my hair and let it air dry! I no longer have curls due to the over process. I was in tears while waiting on my husband to come home because I was so embarrassed for him to see me like this! He said to me why did you let them put black color on you! But I didn't let them put black color and they didn't have my permission to bleach my hair. I was seated where there are no mirrors. I didn't think they were going to bleach my hair she only said it was a brown color she was adding to blend in the black she had initially done on my roots but it wasn't brown because It was burning me so bad!!!! I was suffering!!! I only wanted a tone to even out my blondes and blend a little darker color on my roots! He said you should have let your roots grow themselves, which he was right! I just moved to Dallas area from NJ|NY area. I have always had my dominican blowouts every week so when I moved here I had to find somehwhere new. I found Jany at the Dominican Hair Salon and I absolutely love it. I love the convenient location, its right off the highway. The salon is so clean and I love that you can make an appointment and you are in and out. Jany is amazing. She is very talented and knows what she is doing. I really really wanted to like this salon. I just moved from NYC and was looking for a wash & set for my first day of work. I was told over the phone that it was $40. My usual place in NYC costs $25. I understand the demand here isn't as much and there aren't a lot of Dominican salons. Something a little misleading is that the address on Apple Maps is not the address that is actually listed on yelp or google. After getting lost, I finally made it there in a seedy area of Texas. I made an appointment over the phone which was fine, when I got there, there were two other girls. I waited about 20 minutes before I was even acknowledged. I didn't really understand the point of an appointment if I wasn't going to be seen right away. The girl shampooed my hair 3 times- not the usual 2 and then I was put under the dryer for a deep conditioning. Because of the fact that the girl shampooed my hair 3 times, it dried my hair out so much. The only plus is that the chairs are comfy there. Another thing that really bugged me was the fact that they did not use any kind of heat protector before they put my hair in rollers so that I could sit under the dryer. At my usual salon, it takes about 40 minutes for my hair to dry and I always get heat protector put on- being that I am curly most of the time. At this salon, they had me under the dryer for well over an hour. When I finished under the dryer, because of the fact that it was raining, the owner did not want to really blow dry my hair. I literally came to a Dominican salon and couldn't get my hair blown out- it was absolutely absurd. She blow dried my roots and then flat ironed the rest of my hair. If I wanted that, I would've easily saved myself the hour drive and done that myself at home. The owner seemed nice, until she asked me how NYC was and how much they charged me at my salon- when I gave her the price, she laughed at me and pretty much called me a liar. Then she told me she would usually charge me $70 but that she would charge me $60 instead. It's absolutely absurd that anyone would charge $60 to flat iron someone's hair- at almost 3x the cost of what a normal Dominican salon in NYC cost, I felt violated. I usually wait a week in between washes, so I'm writing this review fresh out of washing my hair. To no surprise, as soon as I stepped into the shower and shampooed, conditioned AND deep conditioned my hair, my hair is FRIED. It literally feels like I put gel, hair spray and crazy glue in my hair. I'm absolutely mortified and embarrassed. There's always been a notoriety with Dominican salons that they sneak relaxer into your hair while you're there and I never believed it until now. Please do yourselves the favor and take your business elsewhere. I won't be back. read more

I have been living in Dallas for three years and had not been able to find a Dominican salon like the one I was used to back in Jersey. I had a wedding this weekend and needed a roller set and I'm so glad I found Jany. She was welcoming, friendly, efficient, and good at her craft. My roller set came out beautifully and she even helped me up with set my hair in place for an updo I was planning to do for the wedding. She has two suites in the King Salon (which I love becausr it helps small business owners get started) so it doesn't feel cramped. She has a wash room on one side and her chair on the other. She also has five dryers so even though its a small salon, she is committed to getting you in and out in a timely fashion. I would definitely come back to Jany.
