Terrible experience with Tabetha. I booked and confirmed to get small sized passion twists. I bought the braiders preferred hair from Amazon for the style. The hair is different than the typical freetress deep wave but still passion twist hair. By the end of the style I was given small sized parts and medium/ medium-large sized twists. It wasn't until I reached out expressing concern that the braided told me she was aware and used larger amounts of hair for my ENTIRE head -- hence the medium/ medium large sized twists. The braider went with her own judgement without consulting me and gave me a completely different style that is extremely heavy and bulky. Consult the client instead of doing as you please. I regret coming and now have to pay for a new hairstyle Update 8/17. 3 days after service. My hair is coming out of every twist. One of the twists in the front has come out completely. This is so frustrating and unprofessional. Despite the size difference the quality of the twists is extremely low. This quality should call for more than a partial refund or partial redo. read more

I have been suffering from Alopecia and I needed someone to cut my hair in a style that would allow me to feel comfortable without adding weave to cover the thinning. Marcus was an angel. I was feeling embarrassed, sad, and afraid to wear my own hair. Marcus was so amazing he made me feel like it wasn't that bad. He treated my hair with a deep conditioner and steam treatment. Rose was great, she trimmed and straightened my hair. She left it looking flawless. She wasn't overly talkative like most hair stylists so I actually got to relax. First time visiting this salon and my first time visiting ANY beauty salon in 8 years. I had been doing my own hair because I'm not fond of sitting at the beauty shop all day. Plus I have a child in college. So, I don't always have the money. I was tired of having "old lady hair" and a friend convinced me to do something about it. I made an 11am appointment with Terri for a deluxe cut and shampoo. I arrived at 10:45am and was escorted to Terri's chair to receive my haircut immediately. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and my hair turned out even better looking than the picture. She's so sweet and patient and just masterful with the scissors. There was no 1 - 2 hour wait before my head was even touched, which is not what I'm used to. Very impressive! I walked out of The Salon 972 as a new person with confidence, a beautiful new hair cut, and a valuable lesson learned, all in an hour and a half! I look forward to me time and taking better care of myself. So happy to have finally found a salon where I can get my hair done during the workday, and still have time to return to work. My Silk Press looks Amazing!! I went to Mr. Marcus as a referral and I absolutely love the way Mr. Marcus did my hair. I didn't know what a silk press meant until now. It was pressed and sooo silky! The main point to make is he does Hair Care. Don't waste your time with this place. I called early saturday when they opened and asked if they had any availability. The lady stated yes we do just come by one of the barber will take care of you. Mind you I live in The Colony, TX and I drove over 30 minutes to get to this place only for them to turn me away and say they don't have anything open and I can come back at 2:30. This is at 11:30. I have been going to Mr. Marcus for over 14 years. He is the best stylist I ever had. I have thick, coarse hair, and he always take special care of my hair needs. When I leave the salon my hair is silky and have a lot of body to it. I receive a lot of compliments and I'm always referring people to Mr. Marcus. He's truly a professional and he takes the time to explain what necessary steps I should take to maintain my hair in between appointments. If you're looking for a stylist, because you are new to the area, or you're looking for a stylist, that would always put your hair needs 1st before money, this is the stylist for you. DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE (Negative Stars) I had THE WORST EXPERIENCE with Mr. Marcus. He is UNPROFESSIONAL, ARROGANT, and LAZY! First of all, he was LATE to the appointment. His coworkers had to call around to find him. When he finally arrived, no apology. Nothing. He was extremely ARROGANT and not friendly at all (this was my FIRST time going to this salon). He hardly spoke to me, and when it came time to detangle my hair (I have fine, dense, and long natural hair) he first said: I charge extra to detangle. I said, "Okay, how much"? He didn't respond. When my fiancé came in to bring me food, his whole demeanor changed. He was suddenly nice and cordial. I guess he figured that my guy would do something if he continued to be rude. Anyhow, I sat under the hair dryer with something he put on my hair to relax the curls. He did this twice and left me for a long time (over an hour). The second thing he told me was, "You will need to detangle your own hair." He didn't even have a proper comb. He spent like 10 minutes looking for a comb for my hair. So, I started to detangle my hair, but left the detangler I usually use at home because 1. hair salons should have detangler and 2. He should have told me to detangle it before I came if he does not detangle hair. I was livid! He left again, and I am trying to detangle my hair with some stuff he put in it that made my hair extremely dry and I just sat there while he attentively tended to his other client. When he came back, he said "I am sorry you are frustrated, but we don't offer detangling services here." It went from 'charging extra' to 'we don't detangle hair at all.' I told him to rinse my hair out and he just went on with his other client. I was waiting for my fiancé and he just looked at me and asked his coworker to close the door because I guess he thought I was going to go off on him for what he did. I left with my hair all over my head. It like a brillo pad (because of whatever he put in my hair) and I did not get my hair done. I drove 45 minutes, wasted gas, and two and a half hours of my weekend. I am an Analyst and I work long hours during the week, so my time on the weekend is extremely valuable. This guy did not apologize or offer any remedy for his failures. He failed to let me know he was running late. Failed to let me know that he doesn't like to detangle or comb natural hair (I spoke extensively to him on the phone before I booked the appointment for NATURAL HAIR). Failed to be professional and offer decent service. And failed at just being a decent human being! I ended up having to rewash my hair and deep condition it myself. I flat ironed it and ended up going to Super Cuts for my trim. If I wanted to do my own hair, I would have never booked an appointment. I have NEVER heard of a stylist that is so lazy that they will no comb through someone's hair. And, why advertise that you do natural hair if you don't want to deal with it? Mr. Marcus was a referral from a co-worker that has a hair texture similar to mine but not as dense and shorter. She is a classy lady and I trusted her referral. But I have no respect for Mr. Marcus and his lazy, unprofessional ways. He caused a huge inconvenience for my fiancé and myself...and he was such an ass that he didn't even care. He sure isn't wise because my fiancé wanted me to get my hair done every two weeks and hire a stylist for our photo shoots and wedding. Mr. Marcus missed out on $1000's...all because he is an arrogant asshole. Excuse the language...it just made me so upset and I was so looking forward to having my hair professionally done. Don't go to this guy. He is a weak man with a poor work ethic. I found out later that he had an assistant that would detangle and blow dry for him but I guess she quit. No matter the circumstance, he should have man'd up and done his job. If he didn't feel like working on a Saturday, he should have cancelled his appointments a head of time. BEWARE OF MR MARCUS I made an appointment here because my boyfriend goes and gets his hair cut here. So he told me that Mr. Marcus was highly recommended. The name of this guy should've told it all. Where do I begin? First, when I called to make an appointment with him he was acting like detangling my hair would be an issue. Which is weird because natural hair is supposed to be his specialty. Against my better judgment I went ahead with the appointment. When I got there he was currently working on someone else's hair. He barely greeted me after sitting for a little bit. His attitude from the start was just arrogant - I had bad vibes right away. When he called me to sit at the shampoo station he took my hair down and began feeling it as if it was wool. I have long, fine, dense, GOOD natural hair. He was like "when was the last time you detangled??" And I told him like the night before. He was like well we can't wash it like this it's too tangled and it's going to matte up. Then he tried to comb my hair with a comb while it was dry, which is a big no for me especially with having fine hair. So I told him I wasn't comfortable with him combing my hair out dry. So then he calls over this Jamaican or African lady to tell me the same thing that they couldn't do it, and she had a stanky little attitude. He then told me that I can start combing my hair out on my own while he worked on another girl's hair. I think that was the breaking point for me and because I just got up and left. Like I'm paying you to do my hair why would I do it myself? Don't go here. Or if you do don't see Mr. Marcus. He is unprofessional, clearly has no experience doing natural hair, arrogant, cocky for no reason, and LAZY. He obviously did not feel like doing my hair when he saw how much I had. clearly the reviews that say that he is highly recommended must not truly have natural hair. It was a complete waste of time and I'm glad I went elsewhere. Do better! read more
