Would also like to add, the hosts are not running it well. Come up to station after coming back from Kiva. There was 5 trailers deep, they had a cone in the bypass lane. Y??? Every one had to wait. Everyone was very friendly. The campsite is very level and perfect for riding bikes. The bathrooms have real toilets and showers and we're pretty clean. We loved our stay! The only weird thing is that we purchased a parking pass for the parking lot to be closer to the lake since we had kayaks to bring in. The lady that sold us the pass told us that she sells unlimited passes, despite there only being about 20 spots. We asked if that meant that even though we purchase a spot, does that mean there's a possibility of not getting a spot? And she said yes! I don't understand this method of selling parking passes. They should find a better way otherwise they are just taking peoples money for no reason... we bought a pass at 7:30 am and went up to the lot at 9am and we got one of the last spots. That's a big bummer for anyone else buying a pass.

And fairly warm water by late August is a huge swimming pool of fresh Sierra water. I was up there on a Thursday and to my surprise the other folks I saw where Forester Rangers take care of maintenance on the camp. I think there was only a dozen or so campsites. There were available to reserve by calling the Forest Service. I'd definitely recommend stopping by to check this beautiful place out, year around. I truly can't wait to see this pls e this winter

Frenchman's lake is one of our go to lakes to boat on. The…read moreboat launch is generally pretty user friendly. The lake opens up to couple of really nice areas. The camping is easy for tents or trailers. They have flushable toilets and showers at certain camps. There is lots of wildlife to watch and if you're into fishing, they have that too! The day fee is only $10 but you must have cash or check. We will for sure keep visiting!

Mosquitoes were hatching. This time of the year the water was high.... Fallon side had clean beaches, plenty of trash receptacles and clean restrooms. You can camp on the beaches or in the developed areas. Boat ramps are available or you can launch off of the beach. Beware of the sand!! Make sure you bring plenty of water and ice. No close stores.

Water levels are lower than I remember, but it was nice to take a trip down memory lane. Every Summer, my parents drove their RV and I watched from the top bunk. My brothers and I could never stay in our seats. My parents never knew what we were up to. We always booked the same block of camping sites and we invited three other family's every year. The old tires swings on the cottonwood trees were always a hit with us kids and staying up late catching June bugs, telling scary stories around a campfire and roasting marshmallows for smores. It was cool showing my kids where my parents brought us camping.

The campsite is woodsy…read moreenough to feel like you're camping, but close enough to the town to enjoy local sites and eateries. (A coffee shop [Coffee Connexion] is just up the way, an easy walk in the morning.) That said, the site is very close to the road, so it's noisy, even at night. Earplugs recommended for a good night's sleep. The road quiets down considerably in the middle of the night, but that doesn't mean the occasional cargo truck won't come roaring by. The facilities are good, with restrooms and showers conveniently located. The men's restroom ran out of paper towels by Sunday evening, but was restocked by Monday afternoon. The showers cost quarters: minimum 50 cents for 5 min (although I times it twice, and it goes closer to 6 or 6 1/2 minutes). There are no lights at the site, except for at the restroom, so have flashlights or headlamps. There are bear boxes to stow food and smellies overnight and while you're away (bring a lock for when you're away). You can't wash dishes at the site spigots or the bathroom, so have an alternate dishwashing plan. The spigot provide good drinking water. Overall, nice campsite. I'd be willing to return.

It's a nice campground , close to the stampede…read morereservoir so you just walk down to the water and can swim in it, and plus the drive to this campground is so beautiful, I was mesmerized the whole drive to and from. Just a few things to remember if you decide to camp here though: 1. You can have campfires with the pit, but you will need to bring your own firewood as the camp was sold out when we went and from what we were told by other campers there, they said it was $22 for the firewood. So be prepared to bring your own. 2. It's a bit of hike to get to the water plus if you want to go somewhere more flat and you are coming from the campground you may find yourself walking far to the other side , so keep in mind what you bring and what time you decide to go down to the water 3. There are deers that you may see, even this past weekend that I went , a deer was right by our campsite and close to our tent. 4. If you are tent camping or don't have a trailer and you are to use the bathrooms here.. beware it is pretty gnarly , so when booking a site you may want to be a little away from the bathroom as it does smell pretty bad even from a distant and you will also want to bring your own TP as they always are out by the end of the day into the next morning 5. Regardless if it is summer, bring yourself a jacket and be prepared for the cold , especially if you are tent camping. It get cold here at night and early morning. I was surprised also based off of someone elses review that they said they got talked to by the camp hosts/ ranger , because when we went this camp site on the other side of us were blasting their music and partying all the way till 2am without consequences , so maybe they have became more lenient. But for those that want a quiet camp experience if you are tent camping and don't have a trailer or camper to block out the noise, just be cautious that the sites are pretty close together and you will hear everything especially those that are partying while camping. Overall , I did enjoy this campground and happy to say I had my first woods camping trip here after a long time of not camping in the woods.

There are places to fish and beautiful trails that are scenic and wind between the foothills of The Sierra Nevada Mountains. There was a fire a few years ago and it has been cleared up nicely. There are beautifully sculpted and painted benches that someone has created and donated here for future generations to see. What a kind gesture from a gifted artist! I will include a picture of one of these gorgeous pieces of artwork, a bench with sculpted birds and a nest with colorful eggs! You can walk for miles on these trails and enjoy the wildlife and scenery. Enjoy yourself! Relax, and have a great day!

Nestled close to the freeway between Reno and Carson city, when you drive in, it is like you are in a far away land with tree sculptures and nicely maintained pathways, picnic areas, fishing areas and serenity. The park was not crowded at all. Enjoy it whenever you can for a quick getaway!
