I received 2 inaccurate text updates (one an hour after I called, one 2 hours after I called) saying Vic's was on their way and would arrive in 5 minutes to tow my car. So after waiting almost 3 hours I finally called and the receptionist picked up right away, but claimed to be too busy to give me a courtesy call to inform me that it'd be another hour still. My wife called AAA in Sonora yesterday approximately 11:30am for a simple fuel matter. AAA called Vic's towing in Sonora within minutes. My wife and her elderly passenger then proceeded to wait for the 45 minute "rescue" unitl she finally called Vic's after a grueling 2 1/2 hour wait in 100 degree heat, only to be hassled by the dispatcher and informed that the driver was "lost". 3 1/2 hours after original call Vic's came through with the needed fuel. My dad and I had our transmission give out while up near Herring Creek on a dirt road. After being jerked around by AAA for two days, we finally decided just to work with Vic's directly. From their dispatch communications to driver Clay, their crew is outstanding. Clay took extreme care to get our motorhome off the dirt road and that in itself was a hell of a feat. They worked diligently to solve our problems and gave us the best recommendations to to have the transmission fixed, a hotel to stay in and even a great dinner spot in Sonora. We went hiking in emigrant wilderness and got our car stuck in some icy snow on our drive out from the trailhead. Despite terrible cell service, we were able to communicate with Vic's and they miraculously found us and got us cleared out. Not only that, the driver went above and beyond and then escorted us about 6 miles down the icy road to make sure we got out safely. Seriously, they are our heroes. As we were getting ready to head back home, we realized that we locked the keys in the car. Not sure who to call, we contacted Good Sam's Roadside Assistance and they contacted Vic's Towing. I'd rather push my car home than deal with vics again. Called for a tow at 7:30 a.m. some lady from Vics called that was unreasonably and unnecessarily rude said it would be about an hour. So I go to my car and wait. I get an update that says eta 10:24, so I say ok and wait some more, 10:40 comes around and still nothing. I finally get an update on my phone that says they would be there at 1:00 p.m.....maybe. ridiculous, I had my 2 year old with me and waiting over 6 hours for a tow is absurd. All because I wanted my car towed home 1/2 hour away they kept pushing my service call back because it was so "far" of a tow. Needles to say my car is still in the same spot, never got towed because I couldn't wait for them to "feel like" towing my car. Worst service I've ever received from any tow yard. Never would happen with Sam Berri, especially if you have a baby with you, they would come right away. I'm just going to fix my car where it is in the pouring rain, better than being jerked around all day. read more

After breaking down unexpectedly in the middle of mountains, I called about 3 towing places that weren't able to help me get my car home. I appreciate that I got ahold of someone at Vic's towing to give me a quote and also get my car towed home with a quickness. The driver, Josh, gave me some good advice about getting roadside assistance for the year. He also showed me a shortcut to get back to my house from where we were stuck. Made us wait five hours after we called AAA for a tow. Every time we checked in, they told us we were the "next call." "Ten minutes." For five hours. Finally we canceled and paid $300 for a non-AAA tow. He got there in 35 minutes as promised. read more

Scam artists, will rob you blind charging ridiculous fees for a short tow and add on extra days-including Sundays when nothing is open, they'll also give you a hard time if you get towed for having a registration sticker past date and need a smog, but won't release your vehicle to get smogged... Totally monopoly since I think they're the only tow in Sonora and seem to be in cahoots with the nearby Columbia State Park...They also broke into my car and ransacked it-totally illegal, compartments were open, stuff moved. I live in Sonora and have done so for about 14 years now. I am not from Sonora so I don't know how to play the banjo and have yet to meet anyone that does. So, I have to disagree with some of the previous comments about the " town " of Sonora, but do agree with the lack of service Vic's Towing provided me. My vehicle broke down on a Saturday and was desperately calling around to different garages to see which one could work on my vehicle the soonest. I had to wait for these shops to call back. Miraculously, my usual mechanic was my first call AND he said he would be able to work on my vehicle THAT DAY, and Sunday would be the very latest he would have my vehicle back on the road again. Vic's Towing ruined all that good news about my mechanic being able to work on my vehicle that weekend because they towed my vehicle to the wrong shop!! When the driver was loading my vehicle I asked if he knew where the shop was, because it is hard to find for some people, and he told me the address and then described in GREAT DETAIL the shop and the unique landmarks around it. So, he knew exactly where he was supposed to go, but for some reason he decided to take it to another location which means my car did NOT get worked on over the weekend and I now have no vehicle to use and have no idea when I will. (How am I getting to work?!?) When I called Vic's Towing on Sunday (11/20/2016) to let them know about this, the woman who answered the phone treated me like human garbage, as if I was the one who did something wrong. She was completely rude, interrupting me twice and raising her voice at me, all because the company she works for screwed up. She informed me, in an abnormally aggressive manner, that I will NOT be getting my car to the correct location, the same location that's on their paperwork, until sometime Monday. So, I now have absolutely no idea when my car will be towed to my mechanic and I do not know when my mechanic will have the time to work on it either. He HAD the time to work on it over the weekend but I have know idea what his schedule is like during the week. Vic's Towing could care less about any of this. They got paid by my insurance company and apparently that's all they care about. I filed a claim with my insurance company to see if I can make sure they don't get paid for this job since they completely dropped the ball and have absolutely no remorse whatsoever about making this huge mistake. Vic's Towing lost my business for good. If they hire drivers who drop cars off wherever they feel like it and then have people answering the phones who treat you like garbage, why would anyone do business with a company like this? read more

I own a delivery service and one of our trucks broke down Scott was on the spot! He knew exactly the place we needed it to go and made sure it all went down properly. Their dispatch service works great as well. So, basically they have a great team effort coming out of Sonora. My experience was amazing, thanks to the tow dispatcher, Brooke. My parents and I got stranded in Jamestown today, (we're from Modesto), and Brooke was very thorough with making sure that everything was ok. We have AAA, and my parents are disabled, so they wouldn't be able to get into the tow truck. Brooke set up a Lyft to get us from Jamestown back to Modesto, at no cost to us. (I guess AAA and Lyft have a contract). Anyways, the first driver never showed up, and Brooke called, and said, "I just called AAA, and tore them a new one, so please call me if your lyft driver is not there in 20 minutes. He was, so I didn't have to call her, but I appreciate all the help and patience she had for me and my family today. I don't hope to be in that situation again, but if I do, I'll tell AAA that we like Vic's. The driver was also courteous. Thank you again! read more

Agree with Marc. They towed my car to their lot. when I picked it up medication was missing that was on condition report. Vic said too bad. Then told me to get lost or he would have me arrested. He also said he was a police officer and has connections. Not sure what that means but was highly creeped out by the way he said it. Not sure if he is currently a cop or was a long time ago but refused to provide a badge when I asked him. If ya have triple a, they are the only option. If ya need a regular tow, use someone else. read more

I have never reviewed a towing service before, but I can assure you if you break down or need auto care, Randall S. Selesia Sr and his sons will take care of you. Last month, I was heading to Camp Mather on the edge of Yosemite with my wife and kids. Our car broke down in between Oakdale and Sonora at sunset. We called AAA and they sent out a courteous, kind, and efficient driver and Randall himself showed up. We had been looking forward to our camping trip for months and were pretty upset about this turn of events. When we got to Sonora, Randall and his sons COULD have left our car, packed to the gills with our gear, bicycles, etc. in an unprotected lot and look at the problem in the morning. We were completely vulnerable and we could have been charged an arm and a leg. We could have had a sleepless night wondering if someone was going to break into our car, steal our stuff and bikes, etc. Instead, Vic's Towing and Auto Care jacked the car up and discovered that Jiffy Lube had neglected to screw the oil drain cap in tightly. That's why my car suddenly billowed out smoke, almost catching on fire...Thanks Jiffy Lube. Despite my attempts to prepare for the trip, a simple error created this nightmare. Randall ran some tests, gave me an oil change, was so kind to my kids and wife and got us back on the road, saving us a night in a hotel, renting a car, etc. We made it to camp that night, albeit late, but I have never seen a more kind, honest, proactive and knowledgeable towing service (and yes they are an auto care garage too). Randall only charged me for the oil change. $33.89. Unreal. Vic's Towing service turned a bad and annoying scenario into a positive experience. If I am ever in the area again and have car trouble of any kind, I would not hesitate to go back. And by the way, my engine was saved because I pulled over in time. Had a mechanic back in SF check the engine and it is A-OK. So in hindsight, Randall and his son's assessment of our engine was spot on telling us it was safe to drive. Thanks Randall! You and your sons are the best and frankly the best customer service I have seen in a long time and I live in SF, eat out, etc. Seriously, you are stand up citizens! read more

Today Vic's got me out of yet another bind. My car just completely died in the middle of S. Washington Street during lunchtime. They were able to come take me home in a service truck and said they were really busy so it would be awhile until they could get the flatbed truck out for my car. That was totally fine by me - I literally cannot imagine a worse spot to have my car break down and need to be towed. They just dropped it off in the exact spot on the street I asked for - the stars aligned and he was able to get into the tricky street parking to get my car out and the space by my house was available too. They've serviced my cars quite a few times over the years, always through AAA. They're always so professional and pleasant! read more

Dead battery on my bmw x5. John from vic's out of sonora came out. super guy. stayed till we got it worked out. If you've ever had a bmw you know there's a lot of shidt that goes along ownership. like the deactivation of the security relay blah blah, or it wont start. John tried everything with the real key in the door, this and that every combination of buttons pressed, because we knew it was some bmw bullshidt. and it was. it was through the onboard cpu to deactivate this or that, and broom broom. Absolutely terrible service and knowledge of the drivers. Couldn't tow a truck parked in a driveway that was on an incline (I live in the mountains!). Absolutely, zero communication between the office staff and the drivers. Finally got my vehicle after 6 hours and parked it out on the street in front of the shop it was to be delivered to. Had an exciting weekend in Vegas planned when our car decided to break down on us at 4am 2 1/2 hours away from home on a remote highway which we later discovered was Jamestown. AAA dispatched a tow truck to us and Clay arrived to save the day! He brought us to a local auto mechanic shop (Steve's Auto mechanic, another great recommendation) where we discovered we had blown the head gasket. After finding out we couldn't afford to fix the car at that time, we had the pleasure of Vic's dispatching another wonderful driver whose name I very much wish I could recall right now but he had fantastic customer service and had the "pleasure" of towing us back 2 1/2 hours back home and did it all with pleasant conversation and a smile on his face. This tow company turned a scary and uncertain moment in to a feeling of safety, security and reassurance. I would highly recommend these people for any of your towing needs! I will NEVER, ever use this company again!!! I had to wait 4 hours for their tow truck to finally come to my location and then once they got there the tow truck driver brought his wife along for the 3 hour drive home which we were all squished in a truck cab for 3 hours with NO personal space to move or breath. Being the paying customer it was not a pleasant ride home and I felt it was very unprofessional for the driver to bring a ride along guest along on his job. I would never recommend this company to anyone. read more

We were stranded when our rental vehicle died. Vic's towed the rental into Sacramento and JON, the driver, dropped us at the airport so we could pick up a replacement. We were camping and woke up to a flat tire. USAA sent Ron from Vic's to us and he was great! Very friendly, didn't give us too hard of a time when we admitted we didn't have our tire iron with us to put on our spare. He was able to find our camping spot as well on New Melones, 6 stars for that! Was able to recommend a great tire shop to get ours repaired and was done super quick. We had a "dog emergency" today. I accidentally locked my keys in the car, when I lifted the dog into the car. The heat was soaring in the 90's and the car was already hot!! I got stuck on my hill/driveway with a dead battery. Jon from Vic's Towing came out 2x to save me. If you look up the phrase "Amazing Customer Service" online or in a dictionary, you will see a picture of Jon standing by his huge diesel GMC Vic's Towing truck. Jon checked both of the batteries in the F250, got it running and then came back a 2nd time when I had trouble turning it around and getting down the hill. Such kindness and professionalism -- this is a great, customer-service oriented company with a great employee. I feel so strongly about this that this is my first YELP review, I'm writing a letter to CSAA and sending a tip to Jon. Highly recommend this company. I just had the best experience with Vics Towing. Long story short, my kids were in Pinecrest and broke down. I have AAA but their systems were down so they were very helpful and gave me a few phone numbers to call near their location.I called Vics and Shannon and Christine were amazing. They were so patient and helpful. I was a.little freaked out knowing my kids were totally stuck 3 hrs from home because we live in San Jose. Shannon even called to tell me their driver, Josh, had picked them up safely. My kids said he also is really nice! I feel so good knowing they are safely on their way home to me.
