I am disgusted for the first time i believe. I was looking forward to my SUPER cheesesteak sub. I ordered mayo, let, tom, fried onions. It dry (no mayo) and horrible. I paid for a super cheesesteak and got a regular. I ordered mayo and this sub is dryer than the Sahara desert . Sooooo disappointing. I guess i will try the new sub place when I'm in town next time. We were driving around and got hungry for subs and said 'wanna go to Wawa? Oh that's so boring and predictable, let's look for a local place.' I remembered seeing an ad for Vic's Subs, and lo and behold the GPS said it was only seven minutes away. So we found that Vic's was this tiny place on a side street in Absecon. Because it's rare to find a place with large portions, and still maintain good quality ingredients, & great flavor. The good: Large portions, fast & friendly service, clean, great flavor, nice menu selections, and awesome value. I couldn't believe the size of the "half" order! It could have easily been two meals, but I'm fat, so I ate it all. Don't judge me. The bad: Small interior, and the bread was a little hard for my liking. I know some breads are harder than others. The tuna & cheese sandwich was still really delicious, so both minor complaints. Overall, quick, cheap, and scrumptious. Great place for lunch. Vic's WAS great for years, however my nearly 90 mile roundtrip was a real stinker and I'm done with them. I ordered in-shop, 3 halves...a turkey w/chees, a ham & cheese and a tuna. I went last week and maybe it was their New Year's resolution but the ingredients were cut by 50% and there was too much cheese. Obviously I didn't see this til my wife and I unwrapped the sandwiches. We usually have enough for two nights dinner, but be trashed most of it. If I could have given them a half star I would have. I guess we'll seek out a closer sandwich shop and when we're in that area we'll go to Sack'O Subs instead. I'm done....no fork needed. read more

Ordered a cheesesteak with sauteed onions and picked it up at the window when called. Barely any meat or onions and NO cheese! I come from South Jersey, and lived in the Atlantic City area for many years before moving away. Vic's is always on my short list of places to go when I visit the area. Though there are many places that sell sandwiches that they call subs, shops in the Philadelphia/South Jersey area know things that very few other places seem to have figured out. Anybody can get lunchmeat, but the roll is what makes the difference. The best rolls for this purpose are crusty (but not too crusty) on the outside, slightly al dente on the inside, and flavorful. It is a simple enough idea, but I have been almost universally frustrated in my search for truly satisfying subs/hoagies since I moved away from my ancestral home. Something sublimely synergistic happens between the bakeries and the sandwich shops down there, and Vic's is one of the best places to get a supremely satisfying example of the local cuisine. My favorite is the "regular," roughly equivalent to what some call an Italian combo, and I always get the hot peppers. They are hot enough to call attention to themselves in the company of the strongly flavored lunchmeat, but not too hot, and the liquid they are suspended in adds its own flavor as it soaks into the bread. Cap, salami and provolone is also very good if you like the Italian lunchmeat. For hot sandwiches Vic's cheesesteaks are excellent representatives of the area's iconic sandwich. Vic's is, in my opinion, better than the famous places in Philadelphia and Atlantic City. They have excellent sandwiches without the rudeness and long lines, and are well worth patronizing if you can find them, in an unassuming building in a residential neighborhood off of Rt. 30. Rounded the corner into a residential neighborhood then we come across this house with lots of cars...? Hint: if you do feel obliged to eat here, there are often $1 off coupons in the free circular by the door. I saw it on the way out, not on the way in! Oops. Kudos for some fresh bread and a variety of ingredient selections, and a whole sub that was so long, I had to cut the whole thing open and fold it just to fit the entire package into the door of my mini fridge. But the hoagie was too plain boring in quality or taste. These subs were not quite sub par! Those who would call these the best subs in the world ought to step out of their tiny NJ world once in awhile and try a real sandwich at Primo's Hoagies in philadelphia, where they have fresher quality ingredients and much higher quantity of food for the price. I didn't appreciate having to repeat my order several times, but I suppose it was better than if I would have gotten the wrong item due to a mix-up. Furthermore, a whole sub ought to cost less than two half subs, plain and simple. The places that charge exactly double the price for double the roll are doing everyone a disservice. It is a waste of labor and paper packaging to have half sub orders cost exactly the same as part of a whole, while it may also deter customers from buying in bulk and driving up the business. And then with the $1 off coupon coming into play, I guess the shorts are even cheaper per inch than the longs. I went to pick up two whole Italian subs with all the works for my dad the other day and I was a little frustrated since I couldn't find any parking so I had to park on the side street pretty far away since everyone apparently in the shop eating park their cars as if they never took a drivers test before. But! I can see why because when I asked for my dad's order they just lifted these two HUGE subs out of no where and I was shocked. I've ordered from Vic's quite a bit in the past but lately the cheesesteaks haven't been good to me at all. The meat is always dry/burnt and IT HAS NO TASTE TO IT! No seasoning at all! I understand some people don't like seasoned food but I didn't taste a bit of salt or pepper on the thing! Also, I paid for a super and it was the size of a reg! The subs are ok. Large with very good ingredients and tasty. The hot veggie sub is really good. However they are too messy. and I don't like the way they put on some of the ingredients. My tuna sub example: Wet tuna on bottom then everything else on top. When I attempt to take a bite out of the very large sub, I either get a mouth full of lettuce or a mouth full of tuna. Nearly impossible to combine the flavors. Also, bread gets wet from the tuna and starts to get soggy. read more

We drove from Mays Landing to Vic's Subs in Absecon because my husband had enjoyed it there at one time while doing construction in the area. We both ordered cold subs. My Roast Beef tasted like an old refrigerator,, disgusting. Ordered it dry but came with oil and my jaws were so sore from the hard bread after 3 bites. My dogs really enjoyed it. I've been coming to Vic's since the early mid 70's back when they always had a huge kettle of Marinara sauce simmering on a stove. They also used to have more of a convenience store atmosphere that sold great subs. Since I moved from NJ whenever I return I always come back to Vic's.
