i had two very disappointing experiences at Vicky's Pet Chalet, both involving the new owner, Vicky's daughter. I gave her very specific instructions for how I wanted my dog, Pow Pow, to be groomed. She agreed with no issues. When I came to pick him up, none of my instructions had been followed. When I asked about it, she became loud, defensive, and dismissive, telling me "that's not how things are done," instead of taking responsibility or even trying to understand the concern. Even worse, on a separate visit, I noticed her attitude toward certain customers--especially gay men--was noticeably colder and far less respectful. While I can't speak to her intentions, the difference in how she interacted with them compared to others felt prejudicial and created an uncomfortable environment. No customer should ever feel judged or treated differently based on who they are. Because of the unprofessional behavior, poor service, and the uncomfortable, biased atmosphere, I will not be returning to Vicky's Pet Chalet. read more

The grooming skills are good but their scheduling is horrendous. Vicky writes down an appt date on their business card and then calls asking where you are on another day that was not the date on the card. I have each time taken in the appt card for proof and then listened to her claim she had no idea how that happened. Four plus times and with proof each time she made the error. It's never her fault is a claim that is frustrating but the excuse of not knowing how that happened is unprofessional. She filled out the card & she messed up the date. Last she is a rude individual & she frequently acts as if she is doing you a favor. Save yourself the frustration. read more

Took my pet Rocky in yesterday. His previous groomer closed and we were looking for a new home. Picked up my pet and he looked amazing, he even had an extra pep in his step. He couldn't wait to show off his new look, when he got home. I do believe we found our new home...definitely taking Rocky back for future groomings!! read more

One year after my review, and I was just contacted by Kelly, who claims that she's the owner. She chastised me for "blasting" my opinion because they're a small business, but I'll bet she doesn't mind when someone who has a positive opinion blasts that. The bottom line is that I attempted on three occasions as I was actually having issues at Vicky's to amicably resolve the issue with whomever was working there, and was not able to. If the owner really cared about how my dog and I were treated while at Vicky's, it wouldn't have taken a year for her to respond to my concerns. I came to Vicky's when I was in town visiting my family from New York. My dog, Maurice, had been subject to a handful of awful haircuts so I decided to take him to Vicky's to see if the Sacramento grooming market was better than Brooklyn. And boy was I pleasantly surprised! I called to see if she had time for Maurice and she had a spot open for me in 10 minutes. I told her exactly what I wanted for Mo's haircut and she repeated it back to me to confirm. When I picked up my pup 2 hours later, Vicky had delivered exactly what I had asked for and put a cute little bandana on my little man. I love love love his haircut! And the price can't be beat. I pay double in Brooklyn for awful service. I will bring Mo back to Vicky's every time I'm visiting in Sacramento for a haircut. read more

Spoke to owner Vicky over the phone and she did not have the best communication skills and was not very professional at all. She was slightly rude and impatience. I would not bring my dog here, she seemed to be in a rush and would not take good care of my fur baby or any other pets in her care! Be careful who you leave your four legged loved ones with! I had gone to Vicky's Pet Chalet several times over the last few years. I was satisfied with the grooming results on my 1 yr. old Pekingese over a year ago. I have since purchased another show quality purebred Pekingese & arranged for her to be trimmed & bathed.. When I brought her in, I specifically asked for her to be trimmed on her under carriage & her rear end. I also wanted her anal glands expressed & her paws & nails cut. Vicky stopped me by saying they didn't have time to do all of that but would bathe her which includes having her anal glands expressed, paws trimmed. I had to go to work and agreed. When I arrived to pick up my puppy KiKi, she was on the floor cowering under a grooming table with another dog on it & frightened. No one stopped to acknowledge me & I had to ask for my dog. Finally, an employee picked her up & handed her to me. As I was putting her in my car, I noticed she had poo poo on her bottom . I was NOT happy & should have brought her back in but she seemed traumatized already so I took her home. As I was driving, I received a call from the grooming salon telling me a dog named Bowser was ready to be picked up. I explained that they had the wrong dog owner & that they had mixed my phone number up with another client. I had to clean my puppy up before going back to work. When I got back to work, I received ANOTHER call from the grooming salon saying they had my puppies leash & harness and I could pick it up the next day. This meant I had to make ANOTHER trip there. What I really didn't like was the lack of communication. They did not smile & had a bad attitude which I noticed a few years ago but decided to overlook it if they did a good job grooming. The attitude was a bit snarky if you will. I know grooming is hard work but I ALSO work hard & can at least manage to engage in a friendly way with people. There seems to be a complete lack of passion and a lack of interest.At one point, I tried to illicit some form of conversation by asking Vicky what breed of dog is her favorite to groom. When her one word response was the Airdale , I knew it would be difficult to establish a rapport with her as terriers are not my cup of tea. Having to set our personal differences aside,it also concerned me that she didn't bother to ask me if I wanted bows put in my puppy's hair which I wanted. No one told me how my puppy behaved as this was her first professional groom. And finally,they did not trim her at all. My Pekingese get alot of attention & people ask me all the time where I take them. I used to promote Vicky's Pet Chalet but not anymore. The cost of the services should be posted somewhere but they are not- leaving you to guess as to what is actually included in the price of a bath,etc. I don't like guessing games when it comes to my dogs grooming. Very unprofessional, uncaring & indifferent. I will NOT be going back. read more

Today was the first time I have taken my dog to a groomer. Vicky was highly recommended when I said my dog was nervous in these situations. when we exited the car, my dog thought she was at the vet and freaked out. We got her inside and the ladies took over. We've been taking our dogs here for grooming over the past year. Bottom line is they do a good job at a decent price. Cons are that they are cash only, never seem to have change, and overall their professionalism could use a tune up. We've gotten several calls along the lines of, "You can pick them up now." No "hello", no "I'm calling from Vicki's". They've lost our customer information card (which is just a 4x6 index card with our names and numbers on it) twice. Customer service just isn't what it used to be. At least my dogs are clean and groomed. read more

So I immediately searched up and tried to look for Victoria (mind you, she's worked on Ghennis before so I knew she was the only one who can work on him again). Loved everything about this place...Vicky's Pet Chalet wad highly recommended to me by two ppl awhile back, never took my dog because he already had a groomer, well his groomer had no opening for a week so I took a chance and called Vicky's, she also advised me no appointments available, well I get a call today from her to tell me there was a cancellation and i can come in. Love love this place my little Missy wasn't shaking when I picked her up in fact she was walking around and not in a cage. I been trying to find a place my dog wouldn't be scared or take to the back and god knows what there doing back there she not in a cage in a dryer for hours I love this place. They really care of your animals when you drop them off. They did the perfect hair cut on her. I gave the folks at Vicky's pet chalet (VPC) a 5 star because, they were there when I needed them. The place is very small but they make use out of it as best possible. I arrived with my cat Friskie in bad shape. He is a long haired out door cat he wasn't taught how to clean himself (need I say more). I guess I was hoping the huge dreadlock on his back would fall off by itself. I left a message with VPC on Tuesday and they called me the next morning. I brought my cat in the same day. He was done in less than an hour. Friskie had a sticker stuck in his fur that penetrated his skin resulting in an nasty scratch. The girl "Donna" was prompt to let me know about it as well as applying some ointment. She seemed to like her job and even said I could bring him back in for a good brush down! The best part is they were cheaper than all the other places I called. read more

Excellent shop - We have been going there with our two dogs for almost 3 years now. The gals that work there know there are doing and provide us with excellent service. Love this little shop. And yes I would recommend this shop to everyone I know.... Yes, the only negative is that you have to pay cash. Which, I dont mind. Just next door is CHASE BANK in Raley's. They do an okay job, but here are the issues.......... Rude, on the phone and act like you are bothering them in person They did not secure my dog and he ran out the front door which was propped open on a busy street and I had to grab him or he would have run right into traffic! They take forever, your dog will be there all day. I would look somewhere else, they really lack professionalism. Love, love, love Vicky's Pet Chalet! Vicky and her staff are so incredibly nice and can always get me an appointment that works for my schedule. I have a long-haired chihuahua whose hair can get pretty unruly, so we get him shaved down a few times a year, and they do such a great job every time. He's like a new man when he comes out of there! Their prices are reasonable and if I could make time, I'd probably take him more often for a haircut. I wish my other chihuahua wasn't such a pain or I'd take her, too, but she's a jerk and I don't want to subject these nice people to her attitude. read more

This is the best grooming place and I have been to a lot! My dog looks better than ever and it was the only place he didn't act up with the dryer (they showed me the video!). This is another great local place. I have been taking my shih-tzu here and they do a great job. He always looks great when I pick him up! I have tried other groomers and was not satisfied, I am very glad I gave this place a try. They even made time for my dog at the last minute when they were booked all day after he got himself in a "sticky" situtaion. And they let me bring him in between appointments for a good brushing. Be prepared to bring cash or check, but it's worth it. read more

What can I say about this place other than the staff is great, the service is quick, and the prices can't be beat! Vicky's always manages to squeeze me in at the last minute due to my hectic schedule. I have a wild bunch of dogs that get their nails trimmed by Kelly and staff. Some of them are a handful while others are model dogs. Regardless of my pets composure Vicky's always take the time to accommodate my pet by a quick trim inside and sometimes outside as necessary due to one dog with anxiety/hyper sensitive issues. Really glad a friend recommended them and Kelly to me. She got me in same day and was great. Gave me tips on training my dog, which have been very helpful. Wish they took ATM or credit cards as that would make it easier, but I just have to remember to have cash prior to going. Definitely the best priced groomer I've found. Both my babies loved going to Vickie's pet chalet!!!!! The prices were more than fair, there services where beyond excellent, and more importantly they were gental and loving to my babies. My dog had a huge potty accident - poop all over her, she was extremely uncomfortable and it was getting everywhere. While both my dogs have been needing to get groomed, my poodle's accident sealed the deal that I needed to find someone pronto to at least get a bath in. I recently moved to a new area so I didn't know any groomers, I spent most of my day yesterday calling around based on yelp reviews, trying to get a hold of someone and get an emergency appointment. Everyone was full or closed. I left a couple voicemails to various groomers last night, and Vicky was the only one who returned my call first thing in the morning today and made time for me and my dogs within the hour. She was so accommodating, and even let me drop them off early because I had to leave for work. They were so clean and cute with bows when I came back,and she even tended to my poodle's injuries from her accident with soothing powder on her bum. All of the staff saw I had a handful with my two dogs and even offered to help me take them to the car in the pouring rain, but Vicky helped me herself. Everyone there was lovely. Thanks Vicki! This groomer is by far the best place I've ever taken my dogs to! They have amazing customer service and they are always polite! They never once have told me that they couldn't fit in my fur babies! Even when they are just completely busy Kelly and the rest of the staff always find time that's fits my schedule to see my babies are well taken care of! I have been taking my animals here for well over 5 years now and never once have I had any issues! The only thing is that they are such a great business that they are always so busy! Which makes all the more reason for why I would recommend this place to anyone who values their well groomed animals! Yes they are cash only but on but I've never NOT known this business to not have cash "change back" on hand. To those negative comments previous.... Tisk tisk.... sometimes a business just can't go an please everyone's palate. And most of those types of people are the ones with outlandish and overly extreme requests or are simply in a bad mood that day and take it out on someone or some business that didn't deserve it in the first place! Contrary to some of the older photos and reviews, this groomer will not groom cats. I left a message a few weeks ago about my cat and never received a return call. Today, 6/17/16 I reached someone and was told they do not groom cats. My search continues...Don't waste your time if you need a cat groomer. read more
