Some things are better off staying in the 305. When i first heard about Vicky Bakery branching out to Broward I was excited! At last, I can enjoy their delicious croquettas and cafe con leche. On a Sunday morning my wife and i hangry for some cuban fixings drove up the road via university drive and stood in line for some delicious pastries. We waited.....and waited...and waited. We observed three employees moving at a snails pace, not giving any attention or care to the two people in front of me and the seven people behind me. Not a "be right with you", not a "sorry for the delay" just nothing! In a bakery you have to hustle, especially on a weekend where you make the most bucks. Seriously disappointing. I had not been to Vicky's Bakery in 12 years. That was back when the Hialeah location was the only one. I live in Fort Lauderdale so I really didn't venture down to Miami unless I had to or for other reasons. I was introduced to them by a woman I was throwing a bridal shower for. This place gets extremely packed on weekends and that's because the pastries are ah-mazing! Seriously, I bring all my friends and family that visit from home here. The cafe come leche is great. They make it right in front of you. They also have fresh squeezed OJ. When you walk in all the pastries are on show for you to see. You can go up and order and they'll call your name when your pastries are ready and you can pick it up to the right of the register. Your coffee will be to the left of the register. So planning ahead I ordered & paid online 12/19 and received email confirmation and my cc was charged. Go to pick up my order 12/24 @ 11am (scheduled time) & call for curb pickup. Girl on phone (forgot to write her name) puts me on hold multiple times, busy I get it, comes back and they can't find my order that I have confirmation for. Puts me on hold again, comes back and they're OUT of Cuban bread!!! Unacceptable. She offers to substitute buttered cuban toast, NOT the same thing, nor does it go with our Noche Buena pork roast dinner nor was it what I ordered (3 cuban bread loaves). Ask to speak with the manager, who's name is Gabriella. She REFUSES to come to the phone. Unacceptable again. We cancelled the whole order. Terrible customer service from this location. End up calling the Vicky in Cooper City and speak with Francisco, who held 3 breads for me at their location. So drive there. THAT location had great customer service and very helpful. I've trued this place about five times now. I really liked it initially and I still do. Although the last two times I've gone they've either forgotten parts of my order or confused it. The time were they forgot part of my order, they were quick to fix it. Today I ordered three desserts to-go so I didn't bother checking the box since it was sealed. I ordered three tarts, a crema catalana (delicious--always), and an eclair with dulce de leche. When I got home after eating breakfast there, I opened the box to find that they forgot to pack the eclair. Which was almost 4$. On top of that, my egg was burnt, but I can overcome that--my mom burned eggs constantly. And when I mean burnt, I mean the egg had black burn marks and tasted like an egg burnt tastes. I feel they're lacking staff but they have so much traffic. There is practically always a line when I'm there. They shouldn't lack staff. And if they do, it's because of how they must pay. Pay people livable wages and maybe you'll actually get people to work there. All in all, I like the food and the prices are fair, just please have people triple check that an order is correct and get more staff since it's necessary. read more

Amazing pastries! Highly recommend ham and cheese croquettes and the ham and cheese empanada. Happy hour is half off pastries from 6-7! It adds up quick so I would recommend happy hour. Also, I don't like coffee but there cafe con leche is to die for. It's like a sugary coffee. I love grabbing a small cafe con leche, pandebono, croquette, and empanada for breakfast. So disgusted! I wouldn't normally write a review but I went here with my toddler and so I'm absolutely furious and grossed out by what I saw when I went to this establishment. The food here is always good, but we went to sit outside (was also with my friend and her dog). We sat down at the wooden benches where there were nails sticking out, duck feces all over the ground, and insects all over the tables and benches. Half of the slats on the chairs are broken. There was a dying rat under one of the benches. We moved to one of the tables after seeing the rat and an employee came out to spray all the benches and tables with RAID. First of all, we had food and a small child there just a few feet away, which is no place or time to be spraying that poison around. Secondly, they didn't wipe the raid or clean up after it, so people were coming outside with their food and touching the benches/tables and then their food! My friend and I had to keep telling people about the raid and dead rat (the establishment didn't remove it and by then it was dead) but we should not have to be doing that. There was also a rat trap/poison box underneath the other wooden table/bench. This must be violating so many health codes and I'm so disgusted that I don't think I'll ever be able to eat there again knowing how things are run. read more

I was ecstatic when I saw that they would be opening a Vicky Bakery near me! I finally was able to go in today and try them out. The inside has a trendy feel to it with plenty of seating area. They also have a patio area where you can sit and enjoy your food. I walked in and the smells and the music made me feel like I was back in Hialeah. Everyone was really nice and they helped me sign up for the rewards program they offer. I ordered lots of treats to take home and I also sat down to eat some of them inside the store. I'm a cafeholic absolutely love coffee, work as a night shift nurse, so my cup of coffee means the world to me. And I was ecstatic that Vicky's opened up next to my house, I spend more than $50/week here. For their coffee and pastries I give them 4 stars no problem, but I've continually get poor service. 1st incident: I order iced cafe con leche with extra ice, the older lady that worked there decided since she had an extra cup of HOT cafe con leche she could just throw it over ice and give it to me. I sent it right back and asked for it to be done correctly and she cussed me out in Spanish. What she failed to realize is that I understand Spanish. 2nd incident: a girl decided that she didn't feel like walking 3 feet to the fridge to get cold milk, so she just threw steam milk in my ICED coffee! 3rd incident: i like extra ice, and sometimes I feel that some people forget ice takes up space, so I ask for a larger cup with ice to the top, but today a girl told me I need to order an extra large and pay for it then. This upsets me because I don't mind paying the extra.50 but I don't understand why it was such a big deal that she went to the extent to go to the sink to pour out the coffee, because she said I didn't pay for the extra large. I stopped her and told her I'll pay for it it's no big deal, don't pour out my coffee. She then continued in Spanish once again. The only reason why I gave this place 2 stars is because there are 2 girls I absolutely love! They are sweethearts and do what I ask with no questions. I know I am a little picky with my coffee but it's because it's my one thing! It's my cup of happiness. And these 2 girls can see it. So, I hate to say this but 3 bad apples did sour the bunch. The cafe con leche was a bit strong for me but my boyfriend loved it. I only finished half of my cup and I was pretty awake for the next few hours. The meat empanada was my favorite! It was my first time having such a juicy empanada and there was a lot of meat inside. The ham and cheese empanada, while still yummy, could not compare. We wished we ordered two of the meat ones instead. We made the mistake of refrigerating the tiramisu at home because after a few hours, the cake lost moisture. The multiple counters for different types of orders seemed a little chaotic, but probably something that can be streamlined over time, as I believe this is a fairly new location. Staff was very friendly and helpful. There are limited unofficial-gluten-free items, but I was able to order a few things like scrambled eggs and some pan de Bono (Colombian style cheese bread made with cassava flour). Sometimes I miss being able to walk in to a panadería like Vicky's and just order a regular gluten-filled pastry, but appreciate that they had some options available. There is no dedicated gluten free section of the kitchen, so it's an eat at your own risk kind of thing if you're sensitive to cross-contamination. read more

Probably the best coffee in the area. They've caught on to a fair price that is really competitive with some of the others in the area. They have breakfast specials that are pretty good, and a really good deal for what you get too. About $6 gets you a coffee (café con leche) with eggs and your choice of meat (bacon or sausage... but by "sausage" they mean chorizo. Really good!), or a breakfast burrito. The pastries are very decent too. It's very nice to have this option in the neighborhood. I would give it one more star if they recycled the plastic they use for cups and forks.
