Saw the 4 stars review. I have eaten in lots of Cuban places specially the good ones in the Keys. The bread are warm , soft inside crunchy outside so it's perfect. The problem is the filling. Pan con lechon meat needs spices - it's bland and no flavor at all and very little meat on the bread. Media noche - this is one that it's good flavor and filling given Arepas - well - it's bland , no flavor on the corn mix - the only thing good about it is the cheese inside which was good and gooey. So, overall - I would not go back and try it. read more

The place is dull and empty. Not very clean and the person behind the counter selling stale pastries with fake jellies (selling as fruit) appears to be miserable. Drive a little farther and go somewhere else; Publix empanadas are super FRESH. After seeing the nice response from the owner... people, PLEEEEEEEZ don't go to this establishment. The pastries are stale. I was not rude. She has cameras... she knows I wasn't rude. It's the only defense she has... making it. Ruthy's has amazing arepas, empenadas, pastries, and cakes. The owner is full of life and super kind! Come check out this adorable bakery in the plaza where Field of Flowers and Dunkin Donuts is located. Their Cuban coffee was excellent. I had a fish empanada and a chicken arepa. The arepa won best bite of the day! The arepa is baked instead of being fried. It gives a crunch outside and moist inside with deliciously seasoned chicken with onions and green peppers and loads of cheese. I will be back for more arepa! Next event, I'm ordering Ruthy's chocolate cake. It is decadent with strawberry filling and homemade chocolate flowers. Come try this hidden gem! read more

Reviewed this restaurant when they first opened because I was impressed back then and just went back today after not being there for a while because they are very far from my house but by my vets office which I hadn't been to in over a year... Wow still amazing!!! Had the spinach and cheese empanada and a cordidito cup of coffee both were the best I've ever had!!!! I'm definitely going to have to drive across town more often to enjoy this place, want to try more items! All you Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts fans should give this place a try if you like fresh quality coffee and pastries and it will definitely be your favorite coffee house! The sweetest woman with great suggestions and even better food :) Came in for café con leche, left with delicious cheese croquetas and mouth-watering beef and chicken empanadas. Wasn't gonna get the chicken but she described it as very juicy & flavorful and it did NOT disappoint. She even happily recommended some amazing, bursting-with-flavor sauces I thoroughly enjoyed. I highly recommend this lovely establishment and will make it a staple for every visit to South FL. read more

The fact that the owner leaves these types of replies to any negative reviews is pretty cringe. Maybe they should spend more time taste testing these items and perfecting them so that you won't have disappointed customers. Eggs should still be seasoned when cooked. Bacon being gross means I as a customer did not enjoy the bacon you chose to purchase for your restaurant. The coffee being expensive doesn't take away the fact that the way it was made was extremely unpleasant and was therefore thrown out. Perhaps the barista needed more training on coffee/milk ratio for a cafe con leche. read more

I think a good question is what haven't we eaten here?! From the empanadas, Cuban sandwiches, and the pastries! I'm Jamaican so this was a bit different for me but I love it! The employees are 10/10 and they're extremely welcoming ! My daughter was given a cake that she could not stop eating, I truthfully couldn't be happier with the quality of the food as well as the service. My fiancé decided to take me to Ruthys Bakery for breakfast and the lady that took our order was so wonderful! I'm assuming she's the owner but she made us feel so welcomed! It was my first time here but my fiancé has been here twice already and loves their breakfast! We both got the fries (breakfast potatoes), bacon, egg and we got toast and bowl of fresh fruits on the side. She didn't have ice coffee on the menu but for me she made me one! She also gave us free Nutella pastry's! Customer service 5/5! - The ice coffee was a bit bitter for my taste (no matter how many sugar packets I added) and the breakfast was good however I couldn't finish it all! Gentlemen was accommodating and welcoming but the food bakery items were horrendous. The cuban ham croquettes are the type they fry from Goya from any food grocery store. The empanada was $6.69 for one which was raw and disgusting. The Jamaican patty was also a previously frozen one from any grocery store. For 3 ham croquettes one Jamaican patty and one empanada we spent $15.51 and ended up at Dennys as we threw the food away. read more

I was headed to Dunkin Donuts with a friend and we decided to walk the strip mall first to work up a hunger, and discovered Ruthy's Bakery. It was so cozy inside and the menu had a wide range of foods, so we ditched the DD idea and decided to give Ruthy's Bakery a try. We had a full breakfast of eggs, bacon, potatoes and cuban bread--all yummy! We met Ruthy who was super nice. She made us feel so welcome--like we were home. The ambiance was so pleasant, we stayed a few hours and decided to have a sweet treat. There was so much to choose from, I will need to come back many times before sampling everything. The Raspberry/Cheese danish was so delicious and I bought the Blueberry/Cheese to take home--yummy too! We are looking forward to going again! read more

Please do NOT go here! DO NOT endorse bad business practice and their scam! I would give negative stars if i could. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Myself and my young child had a terrible experience here. Most important complaint: The employee (seemed like the owner and/or minimally the manager) bypassed the tip screen and gave herself 18% tip for a to-go order WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. She just swiped away from the tip screen and mumbled don't worry about that. Then told me to sign. I selected to get a receipt and that is when I saw she gave herself 18% tip for a to-go sandwich!?! I DO NOT condone this type of business practice even though there is inflation and even if the business is in trouble (no one was in the small restaurant). They DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to take money from customers without their knowledge!!! Second complaint: My young child had to use the bathroom and one of the disgruntled employees hid in the only bathroom (for a LONG time) and the owner had to bang on the door to tell her to come out. That same disgruntled employee was also rude to us. Third complaint: Rundown restaurant with ZERO air conditioning; in the Florida heat. It was hotter (very stale air) inside than outside! read more

Ruthy is such an amazing and sweet lady, the staff is cool and they are all friendly. Ruthy has the best sandwiches around for sure, I haven't eaten a Cuban or steak sandwich from anywhere else the last 2 years as good as hers. Now she's doing smoothies and I just got the strawberry/blueberry one and is great! YUM! Came here for my phone therapy session after my son stopped by at We Rock the Spectrum and I was hoping they had ready made food which they did. The lunch special was meatballs with rice beans and salad. Delicious! The meatballs were so flavorful - Latin style, don't expect Italian meatballs! The beans had little pieces of pork and bacon inside. So good! The rice was cooked to perfection and the salad had a delicious balsamic dressing. All in all I was happy with this place and definitely look to be back. They were not cheap - a lunch special and iced tea was $17 but totally worth it! read more

The service I received was exceptionally poor. The sandwiches were, for the most part, average, with one exception, and the scones, one of the.sandwich clotted cream were satisfactory. The tea was acceptable. My visit was in February for high tea, and I left feeling disrespected and uncomfortable. Upon arrival, I approached lady Hostess A and requested an indoor table. She informed me that the indoor seating was full but suggested I could sit anywhere outside. I proceeded to seat myself. There was no queue or other patrons waiting at that time. Mr. Waiter J..later informed me about reported issues with bees in the outdoor area, which I understood. I reiterated my preference for indoor seating, explaining that Hostess A had indicated no availability inside, which led me to the outdoor area. After I placed my order, other patrons arrived. Hostess A escorted them to outdoor tables and provided them with menus. This pattern continued with subsequent arrivals. I observed that all the patrons she seated shared a similar skin tone to hers, unlike myself. Furthermore, after patrons departed from the indoor area, Hostess A personally re-entered the outdoor area to escort these new arrivals inside, despite their arrival significantly after mine. One patron, whom she seated indoors, later returned outside..The inside was full but many cluents left in groups freeibg uo various table indore..She appeared to have many options..options that i was not offrerd after i my wish was express that i wanted an inside table Lady A indicating that indoor seating had been available. I also overheard her inquiring about reservations, suggesting that these patrons did not have one. Another patron seated near me was also offered an indoor table. Throughout this experience, Mr. J observed my predicament with the bees and proactively intervened to improve the situation. I shared my observations with him, and he offered me an indoor table, which I declined at that point. His exemplary teamwork and service in addressing the disrespect and unfavorable treatment I experienced were didpleased . My waiter, Mr. J.. was ok.. When I shared my observations with him, he suggested that Hostess A might have forgot about me. I found this particularly noteworthy given that two patrons were seated within arm's length of me, requiring her to navigate around me. My table was also positioned beside the entrance, a high-traffic area for incoming guests. While I acknowledged the possibility of oversight, I also reflected on the unfortunate phenomenon where individuals of differing skin tones are sometimes marginalized as in my case. I sat outside and while the bees was competing with my food. Mr. Jeh...consistently refilled my tea and checked on me frequently. The waiter also checked on me and acknowledged the bee issue. Mr. Jel ....was professionalism, kindness, and efficiency in attempting to rectify the situation were commendable. I would rate the waiter's quality as 3 out of 10, while Mr. jEl....service merits a perfect 10. Regarding the restaurant as a whole, I am profoundly disappointed. I had been enthusiastic about finding a tea house, as they are a rarity in South Florida.

To the owner, You are running a business, not a family reunion. I still stand by my review and you are wrong in saying that either my boyfriend or I were arrogant and rude. Cameras or not, asking for silverware, inquiring about your food, and service....was a ground ball that would of corrected some areas of this review. Ma'm I've worked in the service industry and empathize with workers and owners, but you took this personal instead of using it to grow and correct your business decisions and model. This was two years ago, and by the looks of it...you are still getting poor reviews from other people. You are in SFL...a place rich in amazing food. The competition is plentiful and the economy is not the greatest...so if someone is looking to spend $ on eating out, the service could at least be decent and the food good = average. I wish you the best and God Bless...but again, YELP isn't used for personal attack on you...it's an area where consumers share experiences to inform others on expectations. I've been here twice this week! My mom introduced me to this place last Saturday and the food is amazing! I had the Steak Sandwich, croquettes, papa rellena and guava pastries.. all good! My kids loved it too. I went back again today and the owner remembered me and was very kind and hardworking! I came to get an assortment of food because of how good it is and she threw in a free fried Nutella pastry to try, so good! I definitely recommend this place! read more
