This little bakery wedged in the corner of the Renaissance Plaza in Davie is a good place to go for coffee and cuban sandwiches. Very nice rustic decor with light wood finishes. I met with the owner, Ruthy, who introduced herself and took my order for a cortadito for $3.25 - a decent price and was delish. They offer San Bernardo ice cream with various flavors like Rainbow, Birthday Cake and Cookies Cream. They have a Sweet Rewards loyalty card and five stamps get one free scoop of ice cream. Many flavors of smoothies sold here too. There were many types of danishes like guava, cheese, strawberry & cheese and apple. In addition to Pan de Bono, Baked Chicken and Cuban Meat. Saw the 4 stars review. I have eaten in lots of Cuban places specially the good ones in the Keys. The bread are warm , soft inside crunchy outside so it's perfect. The problem is the filling. Pan con lechon meat needs spices - it's bland and no flavor at all and very little meat on the bread. Media noche - this is one that it's good flavor and filling given Arepas - well - it's bland , no flavor on the corn mix - the only thing good about it is the cheese inside which was good and gooey. So, overall - I would not go back and try it. read more

The place is dull and empty. Not very clean and the person behind the counter selling stale pastries with fake jellies (selling as fruit) appears to be miserable. Drive a little farther and go somewhere else; Publix empanadas are super FRESH. After seeing the nice response from the owner... people, PLEEEEEEEZ don't go to this establishment. The pastries are stale. I was not rude. She has cameras... she knows I wasn't rude. It's the only defense she has... making it. Ruthy's has amazing arepas, empenadas, pastries, and cakes. The owner is full of life and super kind! Come check out this adorable bakery in the plaza where Field of Flowers and Dunkin Donuts is located. Their Cuban coffee was excellent. I had a fish empanada and a chicken arepa. The arepa won best bite of the day! The arepa is baked instead of being fried. It gives a crunch outside and moist inside with deliciously seasoned chicken with onions and green peppers and loads of cheese. I will be back for more arepa! Next event, I'm ordering Ruthy's chocolate cake. It is decadent with strawberry filling and homemade chocolate flowers. Come try this hidden gem! read more

I think a good question is what haven't we eaten here?! From the empanadas, Cuban sandwiches, and the pastries! I'm Jamaican so this was a bit different for me but I love it! The employees are 10/10 and they're extremely welcoming ! My daughter was given a cake that she could not stop eating, I truthfully couldn't be happier with the quality of the food as well as the service. Reviewed this restaurant when they first opened because I was impressed back then and just went back today after not being there for a while because they are very far from my house but by my vets office which I hadn't been to in over a year... Wow still amazing!!! Had the spinach and cheese empanada and a cordidito cup of coffee both were the best I've ever had!!!! I'm definitely going to have to drive across town more often to enjoy this place, want to try more items! All you Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts fans should give this place a try if you like fresh quality coffee and pastries and it will definitely be your favorite coffee house! The sweetest woman with great suggestions and even better food :) Came in for café con leche, left with delicious cheese croquetas and mouth-watering beef and chicken empanadas. The fact that the owner leaves these types of replies to any negative reviews is pretty cringe. Maybe they should spend more time taste testing these items and perfecting them so that you won't have disappointed customers. Eggs should still be seasoned when cooked. Bacon being gross means I as a customer did not enjoy the bacon you chose to purchase for your restaurant. The coffee being expensive doesn't take away the fact that the way it was made was extremely unpleasant and was therefore thrown out. Perhaps the barista needed more training on coffee/milk ratio for a cafe con leche. read more

Gentlemen was accommodating and welcoming but the food bakery items were horrendous. The cuban ham croquettes are the type they fry from Goya from any food grocery store. The empanada was $6.69 for one which was raw and disgusting. The Jamaican patty was also a previously frozen one from any grocery store. For 3 ham croquettes one Jamaican patty and one empanada we spent $15.51 and ended up at Dennys as we threw the food away. read more

My fiancé decided to take me to Ruthys Bakery for breakfast and the lady that took our order was so wonderful! I'm assuming she's the owner but she made us feel so welcomed! It was my first time here but my fiancé has been here twice already and loves their breakfast! We both got the fries (breakfast potatoes), bacon, egg and we got toast and bowl of fresh fruits on the side. She didn't have ice coffee on the menu but for me she made me one! She also gave us free Nutella pastry's! Customer service 5/5! - The ice coffee was a bit bitter for my taste (no matter how many sugar packets I added) and the breakfast was good however I couldn't finish it all! Please do NOT go here! DO NOT endorse bad business practice and their scam! I would give negative stars if i could. I will be reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. Myself and my young child had a terrible experience here. Most important complaint: The employee (seemed like the owner and/or minimally the manager) bypassed the tip screen and gave herself 18% tip for a to-go order WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. She just swiped away from the tip screen and mumbled don't worry about that. Then told me to sign. I selected to get a receipt and that is when I saw she gave herself 18% tip for a to-go sandwich!?! I DO NOT condone this type of business practice even though there is inflation and even if the business is in trouble (no one was in the small restaurant). They DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT to take money from customers without their knowledge!!! Second complaint: My young child had to use the bathroom and one of the disgruntled employees hid in the only bathroom (for a LONG time) and the owner had to bang on the door to tell her to come out. That same disgruntled employee was also rude to us. Third complaint: Rundown restaurant with ZERO air conditioning; in the Florida heat. It was hotter (very stale air) inside than outside! read more

When I say I was BLOWN AWAY when I went to see our cake for a Miami Vice themed 60th Birthday... I WAS B L O W N A W A Y!!! I have never seen such creativity, attention to design + detail AND oh my gosh the layers and layers of flavor. I can not tell you how many complements we received on this cake. Ruth truly loves with a she does; you can literally feel it, not to mention taste it too. I am so happy we have discovered this Bakery. We will be using them for all of our events going forward. I will never have to worry again about a cake not being what we wanted. This was a show stopper. I gave complete creative freedom to just make us a cake with a Miami Vice vibe and just look at the photos for yourself to see this. Miami Vice came to life last night.
