This is the place where the helpful hardware man lives. His name is James. I had a list. James stepped outside the booth to walk me down the aisles to grab the items in stock that were on my list. James gave me suggestions for the items on my list that he did not have in his store. I like James. Moral of the story...be like James.

Convenient, affordable, and helpful locally-owned store. 'Nuff said. On My last visit, I arrived frustrated after I had tried to get My car key copied at Wal-mart 4 times without success. One visit here and the problem was solved. The employee's have always given Me a friendly greeting immediately, and are eager to help Me with anything I need. And unlike the sometimes clueless young employee's seen on the Home Depot floor, these people actually seem to know their stuff and can tell you what will and what will not be useful for your situation. Of course, you will not find the vast selection of items found at their large chain-store competitors but if you know what you want you can get what you need and be out of the store in 3 minutes flat. Plus, the location is so convenient that you'll be back to your project in half the time it might take otherwise. The prices seem fairly reasonable and I've spied some really good deals in there from time to time. Tip: If you need an item not seen on their floor, they may keep it in the back.

Since moving to Smyrna and moving from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 3 bedroom house, we've frequented Vickery's a number of times and have always had positive experiences. There are always several people wandering the store who are willing to help and they seriously have EVERYTHING!! After one of our cats jumped up on the stove and turned on one of the burners we knew, to keep our cats safe and prevent the house from burning down, that we needed to child proof the oven knobs. I highly doubted they would have child proof stuff here and we went to Target instead, were unable to find them, and returned to Vickery's to find a pack of 5 knob protectors. We love coming here because it's not a big box Home Depot where I easily get overwhelmed. Also, they have a really cute black cat that wanders the store and requests love.

They always have the best signs (on their changeable sign). I make a point of cutting through that way, to see them!

Friendly, helpful service. Huge range of products. Many locally produced products, such as honey, locally crafted mugs, etc.

Great staff, family owned, cool vintage feel inside. Much better feels supporting small business rather than Walmart or Home Depot

Super cool people, and beyond helpful. Customer friendly, and a 1000 times more helpful/knowledgeable than the big box stores!

Great little hardware store, a nice change of pace from a Home Depot or Lowes.

I like to order online and have it shipped to the home if it's free shipping. My ladies experience, however, was most disappointing! As I ordered four large wooden moving dollies and had it shipped to my home. When I got the notification that it had arrived, I looked at the picture of the proof that it had arrived, and on my doorstep was four boxes of staples! I called up the customer service at the store that I thought it was purchased at explained the situation to them. Ultimately it got resolved, but it took a long time! As they were out of these wooden moving dollies it almost every store in Atlanta! The major reason I got chipped the rug merchandise is because Home Depot now uses Uber to deliver! I am currently in the process of moving and we needed items from Home Depot, and on both trips, employees send you on trips to where items "should be" located. Of both trips, there were only two employees that took time to ensure they were sending us to the right location. I wish I had their names! At one point, my mom and I had to ask a random customer to assist us. The items needed were both present and checkout was easy. But if you are looking for customer service or assistance, good luck.

This was one of the most…read moredisappointing retail experiences I have ever had, and because of it, I will never shop at the Lowe's in Austell, Georgia again. I first went to the Lowe's in Douglasville because I found clearance pavers. Before doing anything, I spoke with Ms. Donna and showed her the price. She checked the system, confirmed they had 56 pavers in stock, and instructed me to go to the back to verify they were there. When we arrived in the back, a gentleman told us he was going to get a pallet jack. We waited for more than 30 minutes in the heat, and not a single employee came back to check on us or offer any assistance. We eventually went back inside and met the only employee who truly demonstrated outstanding customer service--Jabari. We explained everything that had happened, and in less than 10 minutes he located the pallet. Jabari worked alongside my husband to load all of the pavers. After waiting so long and standing in the sun, I made sure to thank him because he genuinely cared and took ownership of helping us. After everything was loaded, I continued toward the front of the store. When Carlson noticed I was struggling to push the heavy load, he immediately stepped in to help. I explained that Ms. Donna had sent me to get the pavers and asked if he could bring them to the front so I could arrange delivery. He did exactly that without hesitation. Carlson was courteous, professional, and willing to help. Once we reached the front, the experience completely changed. Ms. Donna first called a manager on the phone and told the manager that she believed we had already spoken with him. I immediately corrected her and said, "I never told you that I spoke to a manager." From that moment on, I was confused because she seemed to be making assumptions instead of listening to what I was actually saying. After the phone call, Ms. Donna informed me that the pavers were $19.99 each and that the Douglasville clearance price could not be honored at the Austell location. She then called over another associate, and eventually the store manager, Jared, became involved. Jared explained that Douglasville clearance prices only apply at the Douglasville store and that the best he could offer was a discount. I understand that stores can have different pricing policies. What I don't understand is why I was instructed to go through the entire process of locating, loading, and transporting the pavers after I had already shown the clearance price before we even started. Had I been told from the beginning that the price would not be honored, we could have avoided over 30 minutes of waiting, loading heavy pavers, and unnecessary frustration. The most upsetting part happened when I also brought two plants from the clearance rack. Ms. Donna questioned whether they were actually on clearance and stated that if they were, they would have been marked differently. I immediately showed her the clearance stickers that were already on the plants. At that moment, I felt as though my honesty was being questioned and that she was implying I had somehow placed the clearance stickers on the plants myself. I would never do something like that, and I found the accusation extremely insulting. What disappointed me even more was that Jared, the store manager, stood there while this interaction took place. Instead of stepping in to de-escalate the situation, ensure I was treated respectfully, or acknowledge my concerns after everything my husband and I had already gone through, he allowed the conversation to continue the way it did. As the manager, I expected leadership, professionalism, and a commitment to making the situation right. I did not experience that. After everything we had already gone through, my husband had to continue the conversation because I was so upset. I simply told them to leave the flowers because I no longer wanted to purchase them. I want to sincerely recognize Jabari and Carlson for providing exceptional customer service. They treated us with kindness, respect, professionalism, and a willingness to help. They are the reason this experience wasn't even worse. Unfortunately, my interactions with Ms. Donna and the lack of leadership shown during the situation left me feeling disrespected, unheard, and unfairly judged. Customer service isn't just about policies--it's about how people are treated. Every customer deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. I hope Lowe's uses this experience as an opportunity to coach its employees on communication, professionalism, and customer care. Jabari and Carlson represent the kind of service customers should expect, and they deserve to be recognized for going above and beyond.
