So Vicious Biscuit has been on my list of places I had to visit for the last year. Anytime I drive by on the weekend the parking lot is FILLED and there's a line out the door. My husband took me here the other day- it was a weekday so we were able to place our orders and find a seat immediately. The way it works is you place your order first and from there are given a number and you are able to find a table. Now coming on a Wednesday morning it was totally different and I was so glad I didn't have to fight the crowds. Service here was super friendly so my 3.5 stars does not regret service one bit. However I've just found over and over since moving here a year ago that prices don't really match the portion sizes. My husband ordered a drink, the crab benny on a biscuit, I got the shrimp and grits and was torn between the sweet puppies or the beignets- the girl at the register recommended beignets so off course I went with that. Now the good- the shrimp and grits was a real portion that came with perfectly cooked shrimp, super creamy and cheesy grits and a homemade biscuit my meal itself was a 4.5/5. I also loved the condiment bar with all the different butter and jam options. Now my husbands crab benny- the crab cake was a good size but it was literally just that and nothing else. The flavor was good but portion was tiny. And the beignets were truly god awful- overly fried hockey pucks drowned in whipped cream and strawberry jam- again a tiny portion. I will say though the biscuits here were delicious as well- delicious but not a place I would come back to as a first choice if I have my whole family just me and my husband spent $60 which for the sizes I feel it didn't match the price .

Great brunch stop at Vicious Biscuit in Columbia! The shrimp and grits biscuit was full of flavor -- perfectly seasoned shrimp over creamy grits with that signature fluffy biscuit tying everything together. It was rich, savory, and very satisfying. The Old School Breakfast with pancakes hit all the comfort-food notes. The pancakes were fluffy and filling, and everything came out hot and fresh. Service was friendly and the vibe was fun and casual. Definitely a solid go-to spot in Columbia for a hearty Southern-style breakfast or brunch.

I ordered the Beignet. I enjoyed the toppings but for me for the price paid it was overrated. The grits was nice and creamy. I'd order that over and over again. The hostess was nice and efficiently address my concerns.

OKAY VISCIOUS BISCUIT, I see you!!! Wow we loved this restaurant!! The biscuits were delicious and we thought the jam/jelly bar was so cool. Our biscuits were moist and warm when they came out. Sooooo good. The cashier/hostess was so very kind. Honestly some of the best service we have ever had. Lastly, I cannot get over the skull design for everything. It is so fun!!!

Staff are very friendly and helpful. I haven't been here since it was the pizza joint. You order at counter. The lady was very helpful in walking me through everything. They even have dark roast coffee. The restaurant is clean and the staff is on top of it as soon as someone leaves they start cleaning the table and sweeping under the table. The whole staff that i made contact with was awesome.

If you're anywhere near a Vicious Biscuit, do yourself a favor and stop in--you won't regret it! The biscuits are HUGE, fluffy, and loaded with flavor, and the combinations are as creative as they are delicious. Everything tastes fresh and made with care, from the toppings to the spreads (don't skip the signature jams and butters--they're a must-try!). The atmosphere is fun and inviting, and the staff makes you feel like family the moment you walk in. Portions are generous, so come hungry or be ready to take some home. It's the perfect spot for brunch, comfort food cravings, or just treating yourself to something next-level. Vicious Biscuit takes the idea of a "biscuit place" and turns it into an unforgettable food experience. Highly recommend--you'll be hooked after your first bite!

Huevos Rancheros beautiful presentation... cold on arrival.

I love love the atmosphere. Cool design and vibe. However for my visit the food wasn't the greatest. I ordered huevos rancheros. The presentation was superb, BUT it was cold! I wanted a nice hot breakfast. The biscuit was yummy but the egg was 'snotty' meaning the white wasn't cooked in addition to being cold. The avocado was NOT ripe. So while it was a cool place my food was less than mediocre. Also bacon for my grandson overcooked.

Great biscuits. A jam bar with great flavors. Fresh squeezed orange juice is a must with or without sparkling.

While in Columbia on a Thursday morning, we stopped in for brunch. Vicious Biscuit is in a great little spot on Forest Drive. When we walked in, it was busy but there were still seats available inside as well as outside on the cute little patio. We usually eat at Vicious Biscuit in Summerville so we were excited to try another location. We did not wait too long in line to order. We decided on the fried green 'maters to share and I wanted an extra biscuit. My husband ordered his favorite biscuit, the Viscous. We waited a bit for the food but it gave us time to peruse the butters and jellies available on the bar. I settled on the apple pie jelly and the sweet potato butter. When the food came, it was hot and definitely looked delicious. The fried green tomatoes were perfectly crispy and the creamy pimento cheese and tasty bacon jam were an amazing combination. My husband enjoyed the tangy pickled okra as well. The Vicious biscuit was the highlight of the meal with its spicy gravy and crisp fried chicken. The flaky biscuits are always fabulous alone but are next level with the flavored butter and sweet jelly options. When in Columbia, we will definitely make the trip to visit again!

Visited SC for the holidays and this place was recommended. It gave a cozy atmosphere, and was welcoming to our large group. I ordered the HEN SOLO and a mimosa which came out fairly quick and looked like the pictures on the website.

    Gravy Train biscuit

Visited this location on a local recommendation while staying at a downtown hotel. Arrived before 8am on a Tuesday morning & went to the counter to place my order after reviewing the large overhead posted menu. We were greeted with a friendly smile & my order was taken efficiently & quickly. I ordered the Gravy Train & my wife had the Crabby Benny with Egg & 2x medium fresh brewed iced teas. After 3-4 minutes our made to order breakfast arrived at our table. The sausage gravy completely covered the big as a "cat head" biscuit in a medium size bowl. The biscuit was flaky & buttery. The gravy was hot, luscious & very creamy. It was awesome! My wife had the Crabby Benny with a fried egg. The biscuit was perfect and the crab meat added a classy touch & tasted out of this world. The restaurant has large booths & 2x & 4x top tables to dine. The overall impression is clean, bright & friendly. Overall, the breakfast was truly wonderful. I highly recommend this breakfast spot.

Today was my first time at a Vicious Biscuit, and a great experience! On a Saturday (late) morning, there was a line out the door. Luckily, it moved relatively quickly and gave us time to look at the menu. I ordered The Fat Boy and the friendly man at the counter recommended I get a Fried Green Tomato with it, so I did. We snagged a table right away to wait for our food. The interior had awesome branding with signage reading "Body by Biscuit" and "Son of a Biscuit". They also had boards with funny quotes from customer reviews. The ambiance was very casual. They also had a self-serve "Jam Bar", with all different kinds of jams and butters, such as sweet potato butter, apple pie, peach habanero, maple bourbon butter, etc. The food took a while to come out, but they were super busy. The Fat Boy was a very generous portion size, and absolutely delicious. The buttermilk biscuit was not dry at all, the fried chicken was juicy, and the pimento cheese and hot honey drizzle went great together. I also really liked the Fried Green Tomato. My friend got the Skully Squad Special and a Jalapeño Biscuit on the side, and said both of these were great. Both the blueberry ghost and blackberry jam I tried from the Jam Bar were very tasty, and I took some sweet potato butter to-go. Overall, we left happy and very full - would return!

The food was pretty good overall, but my chicken salad sandwich was extremely disappointing. The croissant was very dry, and the shredded chicken combined with the consistency of the dressing was not at all what I expected. After only a couple bites, I left the entire sandwich untouched. What was even more disappointing was that when our waitress brought the bill, she clearly noticed I hadn't eaten the sandwich and chose not to ask about it. At this price point for lunch, I would have expected the situation to be handled a little differently. We sat in the covered outdoor area, which was nice, but there's also an uncovered outdoor section with older picnic tables that don't really match the vibe of a more upscale lunch spot. If you plan to sit outside, I'd recommend making your seating preference clear when booking.

They were all so sweet and really went above and beyond to make sure it was a high-quality experience. I noticed that they openly advertise that they don't accept tips and have slightly higher prices in order to pay their workers a living wage, and the results were directly reflected in the customer service that I received. As for the food and drink (coffee), that was pretty good as well! While I do wish that they might have had bagels, the croissant that I substituted it for was warm, buttery, and tasty, and it was a nice change from my usual coffee shop meal, as I've only had a croissant a handful of times. The coffee was fine, and I loved how they offered free refills, which I've noticed that other local coffee shops usually don't. Finally, I loved the setting of the restaurant, which gave you the opportunity to either sit inside and enjoy the ambiance or on the outside patio and enjoy some peace and quiet. I also loved the artwork that they had on the walls, which the waitress informed me was painted by a local artist and which you could purchase if you wanted to. All-in-all, I loved smallSUGAR, will be back in the future, and would highly recommend stopping in!

Service was fine. Nothing particularly standout, but smooth and efficient. For drinks, the coffee was average. It wasn't bad by any means, just nothing memorable. Especially considering the price point. Food-wise, there were some highlights. The sweet potato bowl was well-dressed and flavorful, though it felt like it was missing a protein component to make it more complete. The shakshuka was very good overall, with great flavor, though it leaned a bit salty. The biggest issue was the bread portion. It simply wasn't enough for the dish. I ended up ordering an extra side, and while it's listed as two slices, it's really just one slice cut in half. At $4 for that portion, that is very unreasonable. That was a recurring theme. Pricing felt high across the board for what you receive. While the flavors were there, nothing really stood out as exceptional enough to justify the cost. Overall, not a bad visit. Just one where the value didn't quite match the experience.

Bison, elk, boar, rabbit. These are proteins you don't see on most menus. The restaurant leans into a woodland theme with greenery hanging throughout the space. It borders on a bit much, but the open kitchen visible from the dining room grounds the whole experience and adds a nice touch of theater. The seating was comfortable and well spaced, perfect for a family dinner where you actually want to hear each other talk. Our server was outstanding, easily 5 out of 5. She knew the menu cold, offered thoughtful recommendations, and struck that ideal balance of attentive without being intrusive. She made the evening better. The drinks were mostly a win. Two cocktails were excellent, creative and well balanced. A third was over iced and fell flat. Minor miss, but worth noting. The food is where The Hollow really shines. The charcuterie board was a fantastic start, featuring a well curated spread of wild game meats, quality cheeses, fig, and mustard. The mains delivered across the board: salmon, elk, and bison all came out beautifully with great flavor and generous portions. The sides deserved their own applause, which isn't something I say often. The dessert menu was the one soft spot. Nothing grabbed our attention, so we ended up heading across the street to Kaminsky's for something sweet. For a kitchen that puts this much care into everything else, the dessert offerings felt like an afterthought. A couple of notes on the bill to be aware of: we were charged a few dollars for swapping a vegetable side. There was a 3% credit card surcharge that caught us off guard. When you're out with the family and the tab runs into the hundreds $, most folks are paying with a card. That's a fee I'd want to know about upfront. On the menu, from the server, somewhere visible before the check arrives. The bottom line: The Hollow is a creative, well executed restaurant with standout food and excellent service. If you're in Columbia, it's well worth a reservation.

We ended up stopping at The Grand around 9/9:30pm on a Saturday. Upon entering the hostess informed us they were currently only serving the late night menu. We said no problem and elected to grab seats at the bar. There were several empty tables and a few empty seats @ the bar. However, the only two seats together at the bar needed to be cleared from the last patrons that were seated. We stood there for over 20 mins while Jacob continued to walk by never acknowledging us or the fact that we couldn't sit. When he finally cleared the dishes he just walked away, never cleaning the area. When he returned he still never greeted us or apologized for the wait, the mess... nothing. Jacob: What are you having? Me: Well hello... Jacob: Yea... what do you want? Me: Wow... ok. For starters can you please whip off the bar so we can properly have a seat. There is still food residue here from the last customers. ** we get a visible huff** He wipes down the bar and we proceed to order drinks, while he never really speak any more it's all via motions and body language. Amongst ourselves we check in with one another to confirm that we both were feeling very unwelcome. Instantly we decide that we will not be ordering anything additional and will be leaving after this one drink. Which is just as well because Jacob never returns. Someone , whom I can only assume was of a mangement status, asked if Jacob was helpful and we promptly and simultaneously said no and that we would like or bill. She shook her head in utter disbelief and disgust but then she also disappeared. Just so happened that Diamond, whom was on the other side of the bar happen to walk pass. She stopped and asked if we were ok after witnessing our frustration. We explained that we wanted the check and why we were leaving. She was super apologetic and closed out our tab. Her energy literal turned the experience around and if she would have came to our rescue sooner we would have considered staying. Thank you Diamond. Just A Note: Unfortunately, bad first impression because The Grand seems like it may offer a good time with the bowling lanes in the back.
