We have visited Lake Acworth via Cauble Park on numerous occasions and always tend to enjoy ourselves. The water is always calm and clean, on the surface at least. The lake is well maintained and surrounded by the park, woods, a neighborhood and a highway. So, always something different to look at whether you are hanging on the beach or kayaking around the water. While most of our visits are for walking and enjoying the beach, I have visited for fireworks and other community events. The lake and park hold up well. There are onsite restrooms and such as well, which make trips here a bit easier. You will find folks enjoying all things from building sandcastles to walking the pups, grilling out, fishing or just chilling. When I visit, we tend to do it all, except the fishing part. Overall, Lake Acworth is a cute spot for a chill afternoon. Low energy needed to enjoy yourself here. Keep in mind that the main access point is through Cauble Park, which for non-Acworth city residents charges by the vehicle, usually no more than $20.

I recommend water, snack, fully charged phone , battery pack back up, and good shoes because these trials can get slippery/muddy in some places but overall is well maintained. Wit it being Sunday Morning there were tons of people on the trails so even with it being my first time I never felt afraid or lost because there were plenty of nice people and nice families to help guide you! Plenty of children with their parents and pets so this trail is definitely family friendly and up north you actually have a Bamboo Forest (we didn't go up there) but we've heard great things and plan to visit it in the near future (updates to come). All in all, it's a great free outing. I will say parking is a nightmare if you come to late in the day but early morning (8/9/10am) are great times to come! Enjoy!

This is a nice hiking area along the Chattahoochee River. We use this area primarily for hiking,…read morebut there are other activities on the CNRA website. This area is federal land with parking pass fee or use your annual/lifetime pass. First, the confusing part. Getting there! There is small sign or Akers Mill (see my picture) and it does not refer to it as West Palisades, even though all the markers inside the park say that. The intersections in the park on the trails are indicated as WP1, WP2, WP3, ... So to navigate go from one junction to another. There is handy wooden trail map at every junction. Trail names are non existent. Parking lot off Akers Mill is large and paved, but no bathrooms (WP12). Another large parking lot off Cobb Parkway has bathrooms (WP1). Also the park connects to county parks along Rottenwood Creek, which gives additional options. These are paved and more oriented towards bicycles. We did an 8 mile hike here. Starting at WP12. Hiking trails through the woods and along the river, back and forth with some decent elevation. When we got to WP1 we hiked along the Rottenwood Creek trail back to Akers Mill. At that point we walked along the road back to the parking area. Very nice combo of woods, paved paths, sidewalks. This was after Hurricane Zeta, so a lot of blow down on the trails but we were able to get around it. (See pics). A good workout! This was during covid and midweek, busy but not too bad. Have been here on the weekend and lots of folks, but plenty of parking and with the large size of the area plenty of space between groups hiking. Great area near the metropolitan area.

I may have gotten lost and tripped over a tree root or two but I enjoyed this park. If you are parking at the above address, it doesn't really show on the map so don't mistake that parking lot for the Powers Ferry parking lot like I did, when you are trying to find your way back to your vehicle. Definitely a great place to get a good walk in.

If you want to catch a decent string of good-sized bass or crappie, a boat is a must. Otherwise, you can just chill on a lake bank and wait for catfish to grab your chicken liver offering, or try your hand at catching bream. Non-county residents are required to pay a $5 parking fee. They DO CHECK, so don't try to cheat, and end up paying a large fine. I have met many nice fisherfolks here. The most charming are a pair of Vietnamese women, who are there at least once a week, swaddled in sun-proof clothing and wearing wide brimmed straw hats. They are plenty savvy at catching fish. They use hotdogs for catfish and meal worms for bream. Each of them can cast a bait 100 feet or better. I've never seen them leave without a full cooler of fish. Me, on the other hand...............

Beautiful! We had a…read moregreat weekend camping at Red Top Mountain! My family booked the walk-in campsites 46-50, and in my opinion, these were some of the best spots in the campground. (Book 44 &43 if you want to be closer to 47-50). These campsites are right next to the water and not too far from the bathrooms, which is so convenient. There is no electricity there and site has their own water. We had beautiful weather during the day and a nice cool breeze at night. Make sure to keep all your coolers secure because a couple of raccoons broke into several of ours. P.s. There is also an outlet right by the parking lot next to campsite 47.

The float was from Jones Bridge to just above Island Ford. Chris was awesome! His knowledge of the river, fly fishing, managing/handling a boat, and showing appreciation to his customers is second to none. We caught fish! Good size rainbow trout and brown trout. You will not be bored! Chris is a good conversationalist and has a good sense of humor. The float itself was quite scenic. Chris pointed out several interesting spots and told the history behind them. I recommend using his guide service. If Chris is not available, he has plenty of competent employees who can guide you.

It rears about 75,000 trouts for the rivers and lakes in Georgia. Try to come on a Saturday, as they have a tour starting at 1pm. The kids loved the tour. This is up and close to the fish and they even get to feed the fish. The fishes goes into a frenzy.. and so do the kids In addition, they have a family fishing pond. Its a small pond and its is stocked with a LOT of fish. A fantastic way to get little ones hooked on fishing. The fish will bite and you will catch a fish very quickly... there was a LOT of squeals of delight when a kid hooks a live one. You can bring your own gear, ( hook#6 , bread + hotdogs) or use their free loaner poles. The area is well shaded, with benches and picnic tables. Truly awesome for the little ones.. you can hook a fish in 15-20 mins..
