The service was fine, however, I do wish that there was a bit more of a flexible policy when it comes to Weather. We booked for two hours per the recommendation of the staff when we called to inquire about kayaking. They said two hours was recommended When I inquired about the one hour session initially. We went here on a Saturday when the weather looked like it was going to hold up, but Georgia weather could be unpredictable and it started pouring cold rain in the middle of our two hour session. The staff told us that we cannot get our money back for the additional time we didn't use, and we also could not get a credit to use for another time. I wasn't very pleased with that, because we cannot predict the weather, and we also cannot allow ourselves to get rained on with cold rain and risk getting sick. So we really had no other option, except to forfeit the additional hour and lose our money. read more

Fun staff and easy to understand instructions. First time renting a paddle board. The shop and rental desk is around back. Lots of signs pointing it out. Again. This not being my first time paddle boarding , but first time renting, I was presently surprised that the staff was just the right amount of informative. Loved the experience. We had such a blast floating down the river last weekend with Murphs surf! It all started with a quick bus ride where I highly recommend grabbing a colorful marker and signing your name on the walls. Such a cute idea! After that, we grabbed our tubes and sticks and hit the water. After grabbing the push sticks instead of the paddle for the convenience of rope that comes attached to it, I'd say just suck it up on holding the paddle stick and just get that one cause we could've used an actual paddle a time or two. The tubes have a bottom to them so if you're bringing more than just yourselves I recommend buying an extra tube so you don't look like us with a backpack sitting on your lap the whole time. It's worth it! We were recommended by Murphs to get lunch at Sweeties, an ice cream/lunch place at the mill, since it's convenient to run in day-of and then you get $1 off ice cream when you return the lunch bag. I appreciate the convenience and it was a great lunch complete with a drink and sugar cookie, but I think next time we'll save the $11-14/meal and just bring our own. Overall it was a fun and peaceful trip that really felt like we were removed from civilization when in reality we were basically following alongside Riverstone Pkwy! We definitely plan on going back. read more

Murphs is a Vanhunks Kayak and Board dealer ... we went to this location 3 times and checked out and learned about all different Vanhunks Kayaks. We decided to settle on the Orca 13 Ft, Tandem Fishing Kayak , it was not in stock . However Mike the owner ordered it and the next week it arrived. The Kayak was wrapped in multiple layers of heavy bubble wrap and the ends were blanketed.. I have never seen such a great job in a delivery of a Kayak. We opened the Vanhunks Orca Kayak and it was in perfect condition ! Mike showed us how to properly secure it to our new roof racks. The Kayak is very well built and much heavier at 81lbs sort of awkward to get on the roof for just one person.. Our family and grand kids have been on the lake several times since we bought. We are very happy with Mike at Murphs along with his staff Kyle and the great young lady whose name I cannot recall at the front desk! I encourage all to check out Murphs Surf and all he has to offer. We also looked at another Vanhunks dealer in Acworth prior.. whose name will not be mentioned. After speaking with the owner he did not even call us back on when he expected to order and receive the Vanhunks Orca 13. Amazing as ones discretionary income spends anywhere! Go Murphs! read more

be aware ! i am working for an electric bike company , the owner Mike Murphy he cooperated with our company from Nov ,2022 to May, 2023 , for like 6 months . during this period , he was asking for consignment bikes every month , we did not give them at first , but he did help sell some of our bikes ,we also helped him a lot too .so we decided to give him 5 consignment bikes on net 35days , he signed the invoice and promised us he will pay in time ,due date was Jun ,2023. after we sent all the bikes to him , he barely replied us ,and we kept calling him , sometimes he picked up my call and complained that the business not good , no bike sales ,working on his new locations etc . till Nov 2023, he told me that there was a fire in his shop and it was because of our battery ,that`s bullshit and a false accusation!!! , we let him provide the evidence ,he just send a picture of a burned cabinet, nothing else , we let him sent us the document that shows the fire was caused of our battery ,nothing else again ! then he even said the fired destroyed his goods which value $ 45 000 , and he was so kindness that not going to accuse us , what a joke !!! now he banned all our email , phone number ,and says will not work with us anymore , we agree with that and just want our bikes / money back. i hope the owner can read this and give us a email / phone call back. ps : i have all the evidence that shows how he become a scammer. read more

WARNING - Murphs Surf cares more about your $ than your life! This is not a tubing section of the river. Murphs capitalized on the tubing industry and "made" it one. It's way too sketchy to be on a tube there. They give you a paddle for crying out loud! Who goes tubing with a paddle? They know it's dangerous and they don't care, they would rather make a few bucks. Went with some friends after a week of heavy rains. Now I'm not familiar with this river, but they are. They knew it was flowing too fast for tubing and they allowed us to go anyway. They should have told us it was too dangerous and to come back another time. Almost lost 3 friends that day. It's only a matter of time before someone dies. If you want to go tubing with a paddle and wear your life jacket the entire time, go for it. That's not tubing to me. There are plenty of other places around here to go that are safer and way more fun! read more

I just opened up to write a 5 star review and saw an earlier comment about Murph's caring more about your money than your life. My experience was quite the opposite. I am forever thankful to Murphs for riding out to save my son and I last night when the storm blew in. We were stuck in the middle of the lake unable to move with wind strong enough to bend trees. Michael, the owner came out on a jet ski and brough my son and I back to the marina. He abandoned the kayak without a thought to the cost. His staff then refused to accept a tip when I tried to give it to them because they just wanted us to be safe. Michael had already gone out to save 3 other people who's kayak's capsized. I don't know how long we would have been out there or how far we would have been pushed if he did not come out and I am very thankful. The storm came in very fast and I don't expect that they can control the weather. However, you can count on them to help you if you get in trouble on the water. read more

Woodstock and all areas he serves for those interested in renting, learning, and/or buying anything and everything kayaking and stand up paddleboarding can't ask for better service. This man has great quality rentals and even brings with him easily forgotten essentials like water and sunblock at no extra cost. Ask him anything paddle related and he'll supply you with the answers. Tell him where and when you want him to meet you and he's there. If you are already a SUP owner and need first aid done to your board, Michael is definitely the guy to take your board to...as was the case for me. I really couldn't have asked for better service or quality of work...fixed my board in no time and updated me with pictures of his progress! Wow I kayaked the Little River to Lake Allatoona waterfalls thanks to Murph at Murph's Surf. He was so chill about everything he is such an interesting person as a Firefighter and an entrepreneur starting his own kayaking business! You don't meet someone like that everyday. Murphs Surf is THE go to place for kayaking and paddle boarding. Murph will meet you at your starting location and drop boards off to you. He will then meet you at your final destination and drive you back to your vehicle. He also offers sunset paddles and has a board that can hold over a dozen people!! He is enthusiastic about sharing the sport and developing the love of self propulsion on the water. He will meet you at many locations around Allatoona and will work with your group on timing. Just got back from a quick vacation at Lake Allatoona. Stayed in a cabin at Red Top Mtn. Called last week to see about renting kayaks and a paddleboard for 2 kids and 3 adults while we were there. Mike was super helpful and had the best prices of the 3 shops I checked out. Delivered our gear right to our cabin with everything we needed, stayed in touch to make sure we were good and coordinated drop off/pick up times so we could get the absolute most use out of our kayaks and board while we were there. My family and I rented 3 double, and 1 single kayak today and had the most amazing experience. My family is far from organized and does everything the last minute so I was ready to have a stressful day trying to figure this rental thing out. I called and spoke with the owner and he was extremely helpful and friendly. He made the process super easy and fast. He even worked it out so we could have 3 double kayaks instead of two. We went on the website to rent the kayaks around 12:40pm and had an issue, we called him and he stopped what he was doing and took our payment over the phone. The trip was very last minute and he was able to make it happen for us, with ease! We had the Kayaks rented by about 12:45 and he met us at the lake and had everything ready by 1:45. When we arrived he gave us all the information we needed before taking off and we were on our way. It was a very windy day but we had a blast. I would HIGLY RECOMMEND renting from Murph's Surfs!! The owner was very professional and friendly! Thank you Murph's Surfs for an AMAZING experience and the recommendation for a family friendly Kayak site. I will only be using Murph's Surfs for all my water rental needs from now on. read more
