Excellent fly shop. Huge selection of rods and reels. The fly tying section is excellent. Pretty sure they have never not had a specific material I needed. I have driven down from Tennessee when the little river shop in Townsend doesn't have something which is surprising and fish hawk has had it. Always enjoy visiting, staff is very helpful and always willing to give advice. No problem for them to set up a rod and reel for You to try out back . Very informative will teach you about local fly selections for an upcoming trip. For example had questions about my trip to Cabo and they set me up with reel, line and recommendations on fly patterns and what material to purchase for tying. My favorite fly shop! read more

While at a conference in Buckhead, I visited the FH after lunch. This is the sort of shop every fly fisherman would like to have in the neighborhood. There is only one true Fly Shop in Atlanta and it is the Fish Hawk. Nothing else is even in the ballpark. These guys have more combined experience and knowledge of the sport than anywhere else in the South East. Ok, there are a few spots in FL that might have an edge here and there but this is Atlanta. Plan a fly fishing trip anywhere in the world and there's a very good chance they will have a tip or suggestion you'll need. Going to fish Salt for the first time, you absolutely must stop in to see them. If you are thinking about doing a destination trip, they have a wealth of knowledge that can mean the difference between a trip of a life time or a disaster in the making. Need a guide for a trip, they know the best. What ever you need or better yet, don't know you need, they will have it or in a short time can get it. I've been lucky enough to visit fly shops all over the country and The Hawk is with out a doubt one of the best. Great fly shop and great staff. I purchased a new rod and reel combo. Was at another shop and they tried to sell me what they had. The fish hawk crew took me out, let me case several rods, and let me choose the best for me. A sales rep was even there who went outside with us and really explained things about the rods. I've shopped at The Fish Hawk since moving to Atlanta in '79. These are fishing experts who have spent tens of thousands of hours on the water around the world and who have demo'd nearly every product they sell. Their collective experience is unparalleled. Often, they have talked me out of expensive and excessive purchases and saved me $$$. They have a great selection of both new and used/consignment rods and reels. Every rod I've purchased was preceded with a casting/demo session outside. Advice is always spot-on with a reminder that fishing a rod on water is different from casting a rod on dry land! Personal preference and experience is always promoted over brand and marketing hype. I've also overheard advice to others and many, many times introductory rods or mid-priced rods were offered to suit the frequency the buyer intended to fish. Over the years I've broken 3 rods and TFH shipped all back to Sage for repair at no charge to me. I bought a Scott rod and after a month discovered a manufacturing defect. TFH confirmed the defect and a new replacement rod was exchanged immediately (love the Scott G2 4wt as they said I would). You're shopping experience is likely to be one where you discover they let you come in and browse without "smothering" you. Ask for help when you are ready and listen to their advice. read more
