I was told that location park and ride was free but discovered it had a pay system in place. I called via and they said you needed to get a transfer from the driver to place on our car windshield. Not a great plan since I would need to get the transfer ticket, place it on my car and now have to wait for the next bus. That system isn't efficient at all. We paid for parking and went on the rodeo. The drivers were the real standout this night. Both the bus to and then the last bus from Frost Bank Center had stand out drivers. Super courteous. Answered all my questions and even reminded me where to jump off. The common thread of both drivers was their genuine kindness towards all passengers. Attentive to their needs and always a thank you for riding via of have a nice day to those exiting the bus. The drivers earned thus 5 star review.

No, it really was temporary. The floors were redone and then new bench seating was installed in a north-south configuration. I'm not really sure why Via Crossroads Metro Transit has some low or poor ratings. I have to admit…read morethat, based on these ratings, I kept my expectations low when my sister and I tried this out for the first time for Paul McCartney's "Got Back" concert at the Alamodome a few months ago in October 2025. However, I have to admit that we really enjoyed taking it to and from the Alamodome :D ! VIA Crossroads Park & Ride was pretty straightforward, being located in a shopping mall area with a Burlington Coat Factory and Target, and with plenty of signs and other people heading the same way to the lines to board the shuttles. It certainly helps to get to the parking lot early so you can find a parking space. As it gets closer to the start time of the concert, it gets harder to find a parking space, and you might have to circle around like some people. We had no issues at all boarding the shuttles. For the particular day we boarded (which was Sat, October 25), VIA shuttles were free because it was the city's way of trying to streamline traffic, which was expected to get heavy, due to Paul's concert, Dia Los Muertos, and other events taking place downtown. But even on days that we would have to pay, we would gladly pay the VIA shuttle fare because it's just a no brainer to take public transportation stress-free, without having to drive yourself or take Rideshare (which would cost significantly more). Some other reviews mentioned that no one from VIA directed traffic. I can't speak for their experiences. But for ours, there were plenty of VIA employees directing people where to line up at both the pickup and drop off sites, and the drivers themselves were very courteous and friendly :) ! The shuttles appeared to be well-maintained, and were very comfortable and air-conditioned :) ! VIA reminded us very much of the Hollywood Bowl Park & Ride shuttles in Los Angeles. In Los Angeles, we dare not even attend a Hollywood Bowl concert unless we could hop on the Park & Ride. Likewise, if it wasn't for the VIA shuttles, we dare not attend a concert at the Alamodome. We know all too well what a zoo and nightmare it can be to get to a concert venue, then out of one, if we don't use public transportation to get to and from there! However, VIA is even MORE generous than the Hollywood Bowl shuttles in stopping trips to the concert venue only an hour past the show time, and stopping trips back from the venue only an hour after the show ends. The Hollywood Bowl shuttles didn't have as extensive of a run time and stopped trips to the venue already just an hour or so before the concert. We would certainly take VIA again for any trips and for any major events downtown :) ! It really helps a lot! And despite some of the negative reviews here, I think if everyone supported VIA and gave it more of a chance, it might truly make getting around San Antonio so much better for everyone :D !

Good AC in the waiting room, soda and snack machines (pricey) active electronic board outside alerting you to when and which bus is expected at the station. I noticed the electrical outlets have been covered inside, so no more cell phone charging. Each facility has at least one walking security guard. There is a sign posted in the women's restroom that sums up a majority of the clientele. I'm usually not here long, so the 'bad' stuff doesn't bother me.

And so in the South part of town a lot of the Hispanic neighborhoods don't even get that many lines, connections are not nearly extensive enough considering the amount of ground they have to cover cuz it's a really huge sprawling City. Meanwhile in the north side of town nobody uses buses (comparatively speaking) cuz that's where all the rich people live, and often they would rather shoot themselves than ride on the bus apparently (and sometimes even do), and that's the area that has all the best extensive bus routes and connections, so figure that out for yourself. Having said that they're pretty clean and they all look brand new so that's a big plus and so is this the flag of Switzerland.

Somewhat remorsefully, I confess I've been a "jump in the car and go" gal for most of my adult…read morelife. I've had ample cause, though: in most cases, I've lived in areas where public transportation either didn't exist, or else was greatly lacking. But VIA - with its comprehensive schedules and affordable fares - is gra-a-a-adually changing my ideas about ways to get around the city. Day passes (good for unlimited regular bus or streetcar fare on any given day) are $4; monthly passes (which offer unlimited passage on buses/streetcars for the month they're issued) are $30. And those are non-discounted rates: certain groups (seniors, students, the disabled) are afforded a 50% discount! Please note, also, that most of VIA's products are available for purchase online and at a number of businesses throughout the city. Best of all (especially for those who are fairly new to San Antonio), VIA offers an introduction to the city that you won't ever glimpse from the Riverwalk, El Mercado or the Alamo: many of this city's natives still use the bus system for everyday needs - and here is where you'll encounter first-hand stories of San Antonio, past and present. And as a passenger, you'll be able to relax and just take in the scenery along the way. As always, there are limitations to the suitability of this mode of transport: first, if time is critical - or if the weather is dreadful - a different conveyance might be preferable. In addition, most of the routes shut down between the hours of 9 and 10 p.m., and don't resume until 5 or 6 a.m. But for the periodic trip downtown - to either the Riverwalk or a special event -VIA can't be beat; and likewise, for a leisurely day of exploration and discovery of our fine city, VIA is tops. So next time you want to go someplace where parking is limited or expensive, consider VIA. You might find - as I have - that it's the perfect solution to your dilemma!
