I've eaten a lot of acai bowls. Although this one's a little pricey. This one's the best.

Vida Açaí - "This is the place . . . for a great bowl of açaí!" -Brigham Young

I'm on the search for the perfect açaí bowl in Utah Valley, and this Vida Açaí place may have taken…read morethe bacon. After a recent disappointing bowl from Aubergine and Co, I was feeling hopeless and down on life. Does anyone know how to bring the açaí joy to the masses? My wife mentioned this place Vida Açaí that was going to be in Draper over the weekend--she wanted me to go. I wasn't sure that my heart could take another disappointment. It had been broken so many times before. As we drove from Orem to Draper (we didn't know at the time that it was located in Provo), I tried to stabilize the whirlwind of emotions I was feeling. Finally, we were there. It was time to face my demons. I trudged from my parking spot to the trailer, and I was promptly greeted by the açaí food truck owner, Tony. Without a doubt I can say first of all that Tony was one of the most charismatic and kind restaurant/food place (super scientific terminology) owner that I have ever met. I told him about how we (my wife and I) love açaí, and we'd had some recent bad experiences. We also told him we'd come up from Orem, and that's when he told us he was based in Provo. He felt bad (not his fault at all), and he gave us a discount. Stellar first impression and service. I've rarely had better. So he walked us through the options--very simple. You pick your fruit. I loved that there is no extra charge for fruit. You can get as many kinds as you want. We got everything except for blueberries. They had sold out. We got the açaí, and . . . give me a second. I'm having flashbacks (good ones) to this day . . . okay I'm ready again. So I got the bowl, and it was, in a word, everything I'd been looking for. The açaí itself wasn't diluted with some other type of fruit blended/ground up with it. It seemed to be pure açaí. The fruit was fresh, and the granola was crunchy. I feel like an açaí bowl is so simple and hard to mess up, yet so many Utah places do. Vida Açaí nails the experience right on the head. The last thing I want to say about this company is that Tony is running the company because he likes it, but also he's trying to help his young son. Tony and his family are part of the LDS church. Tony's son is planning on leaving on a 2-year service mission when he is 18, and he'll have to cover his own costs (currently about $10,000, probably more in the future). It seems that a majority of the profits go toward a mission fund for Tony's son. In summary, not only does this place serve a great bowl of açaí, but it also has charitable intentions behind it. Five stars, two thumbs, standing ovation, 10/10, and any other type of review I can give to Vida Açaí. 10/10 Will try again. P.S. I know this is a book, but one last thing. If you buy 4 bowls, they'll deliver them to your home free of charge!
