This was my second visit to Veterinary Emergency group on Ray rd. First visit I was AMAZED at the facility and how family friendly they are. You can literally follow your pet through all procedures.. observing and supporting your pet through through it all. I wish they offered vet care.. My second visit was not a normal visit. I had actually made an appointment at my normal vet - without getting a chance to share our story, I shared what I was planning over phone and they took appointment - we explained to the vet assistant and we were turned away .. feeling hopeless and judged. We had to make the most difficult decision to put down our rescue dog after 10 years of caring for him and his challenging behavior. We discovered after finding him on the streets.. he was rescued once before after being dumped on the road and they soon discovered why.. and tried to rehome him and was dumped a second time. When we discovered this- I promised our rescue that he was going to be with us till his last breathe.. as long as we all felt safe .. and he didn't put our lives in danger. He had bitten a few friends and family throughout the years. nothing to serious.. we managed for almost 10 years to keep him separate from our guests.. and he continued to protect our house.. however in the past 4 months, he had bitten one of our neighbors later a teacher friend of ours.. pretty bad. you could tell his age.. as he became more aggressive and agitated - I am a single mom and couldn't take a chance of him hurting one more person. We really don't know how old he was.. When we walked into Veterinary Emergency Group, we were greeted with kindness and respect. They quickly took us to a room - where we explained our story again... Once they discussed it - I was met with such kindness and understanding . My Rescue dog.. did not have to suffer mentally anymore. I stuck to my promise.. he did take his last breathe with us with dignity. It was our choice - not the choice of being quarantined and forced to put him down. I was able to give him a day of everything he loved.. and then with the love of our family - we did not die alone. I cannot thank this group enough. truly family friendly and supportive. I recommend them to anyone ... who needs support and care for their pets. read more

Terrible place. Not only was it filthy, but it is the most unprofessional veterinary emergency or otherwise clinic I have ever been to in 20 years of being a dog parent. The vet on duty the night I took my dog was rude, ignoring and unprofessional. She left for hours and didn't return. Then the tech came to draw blood and the needle fell on the floor and he picked up and continued drawing blood without sanitizing or getting a new needle. What I'm writing here is half of what happened at that place. My experience with my dog there was terrible. After 6 hours they said they can't help us and sent us someplace else. Not good. My poor dog was in pain and suffered for so long. I don't recommend this place. I'd rather drive longer and go somewhere that takes animal care seriously. read more

Thank you so much to taking such great and compassionate care of my Spooky and my family. Our baby had a stroke and we hoped he would recover, but the Dr. said he most likely would not have a good quality of life, so our decision to say goodbye was supported as the best option. My dog and I were there 3 times in 24hours. Each time we were there every staff member and Dr. was attentive, compassionate, and so engaging with my dog. They answered all of my 185 questions and You could really feel that they cared about you there. There was also no wait which was relieving every time and you get to stay with your dog the whole time which is very comforting. I definitely would go back there again if needed but fingers crossed that doesn't happen! Haha The only downfall I had about this place is that they don't have a board certified surgeon on staff and an ultrasound readily available. if we had to get to that situation, I was prepared to go somewhere else But was bummed, because I really liked it there. read more

This is seriously the best place ever. I wish it wasn't just emergency and they had a regular vet section as well, because these people are amazing. Idk why I haven't written a review sooner, but in the past 2 years we've had to take 2/3 of our dogs here. Both times every Veterinarian, assistant, whoever were extremely caring and loving towards our dogs, and answered any of our questions. Now to today, unfortunately there were two dogs out in maricopa running up and down John Wayne parkway. Us and other people were trying to catch them. They ran a different way, and one of the dogs got hit and unfortunately passed. No resource/animal control in maricopa could help us with the dog that was still alive. And I couldn't just leave the deceased dog on the side of the road. I immediately called VEG and asked if they could help, and as I'm on the phone I start balling my eyes out. The lady on the phone was so comforting and told us to bring both dogs in to see if they were chipped. We ended up finding the owners, and VEG helped her as well. Seriously amazing people all work there. I actually witness everything and am able to discuss thoroughly what is being done prior taking the next necessary or required step. They take u immediately as soon as u step in the door. The support from the techs is above what I have ever experienced. The vets r open and honest sharing information. I have been to the Ray - I -10 location 4 x now. The first was to meet everyone and shown around the facility before making them my E.R.VET. RESCUES get free office visit with 25% discount in everything else. I was using VCA E.R. before and NEVER had a go result or satisfied. One gal vet who is there in the evening doesn't knòw what she is doing. She recommended putting my dog down only to find out my current vet could have saved her and has done many of the surgeries my dog needed with success. Ibwitnessed his results as i was sitting in waiting room the following week after I put my dog down. a dog walked out rhat he just performed this surgery on . have witnessed numerous dogs he has saved. This was my time visiting. I am so happy we have a Vet ER closer to us and an amazing one. I went for a very sad situation but from the second I walked in the door everyone was compassionate, efficient and amazing at their job at making my fur baby feel comfortable not only did they make her feel comfortable, but they helped make me comfortable. I had to make the decision to let her pass on, but the doctor made it easy for me to make the decision that was needed. They were so kind to her and me. Came in here to have my puppies leg looked at after he hurt it. He was triaged by friendly staff and seen by a doctor quickly even though the place was rather full. Doctor checked him out and made recommendations that put the customer first over a quick profit for the ER. It was a small gesture, but their compassion for the animals and commitment to providing emergency services that make an impact was on clear display here. If I could give them a million stars I would. From the second we walked in, everyone greeted us with smiles. The entire facility then greeted our dog "Hi Ryder!" And introduced him to everyone. It is an open concept-- meaning you get to be a part of everything! You can watch your pet get surgery, be with them during any exams, sleepover if you want to stay the night with your pet, etc. there are not any rooms (unless requested) so you really do feel like you are involved in everything and never in the dark or not sure what is happening. The staff was so kind and the facility was clean, open, and felt like a little community. I can't say enough WONDERFUL things about them!!! This is not an easy review to write. Our regular vet had retired and our old dog was quite ill. She had stopped eating or drinking and seemed confused in her behavior. It's never easy to admit that there comes a time when it is a quality of life question for your pet. We had a cat in similar circumstances and our previous vet took one look at him and knew his time had come. However, at VEG, they recommended over $1,300 in tests, "Just to be sure." I asked if the $550 x-ray was really necessary and the vet conceded that it probably wasn't. We had them do the remaining battery of tests. When the vet sat down with us, she proceeded to rattle off a string of numbers from the test results as if we had any chance of understanding them. She gently suggested that perhaps we should have our dog stay the night, admitting that this was a long shot. Well, that long shot would have cost an additional 4k-6k and the common sense part of my brain was starting to smell a corporate upsell at work. Very nice facility with lots of staff. You gotta pay those bills somehow. We decided it was time to say goodbye to our little dog. The tech took her from the room to insert a catheter. We heard her yelping over and over in apparent pain. When the tech returned, we asked if that was our dog who was yelping. The tech kind of laughed and said, "Yeah that was her." The vet came into the room to deliver two intravenous doses to put our dog to sleep. She promised that it would be very quick and peaceful. It was not! On the first injection through the catheter, our dog yelped in pain and tried to get away from my wife's lap. The vet apologized saying she had never seen such a reaction before. Hmm, was that because an inexperienced tech screwed up the catheter insertion? Eventually it all ended. This was not the peaceful ending for out dog that they had promised. Instead she yelped out in pain and was thrashing. A cruel way to go for such a sweet girl. They gave us quiet time with our dog while also trying to sell us an urn for her ashes. The final bill fell just short of $1,300 and left me frustrated and angry. I can never know if all those expensive tests were actually necessary but my gut tells me that a more empathetic, experienced and compassionate vet would have seen immediately that it was time to let go. For them, cha-ching, keep that sweet sweet money rolling in. read more

Unbeknownst to us, our 3yo LabPit Mix, Bugsy oddly discovered he liked the taste of rocks better than his usual dog food. We became disturbingly aware when he threw up 5 of them one Sat am and started to excessively drool. We took him to our VET and requested an X-ray to see how many remained inside of him. After reviewing the X-ray the VET instructed us to take Bugsy home, offer him food & water and hope the remaining 1-3 rocks would pass on their own. Being uncomfortable with these instructions, and knowing that my dog wasn't acting normally, I followed my mama intuitions & called the VET after I left his office to let them know we were taking Bugsy to VEG & requested they send his X-rays immediately. Shortly afterwards we arrived @ VEG and were greeted by the friendly front desk staff, escorted to a comfortable human/pet sofa, and Bugsy was quickly evaluated. Our VET didn't send his X-rays, so the plan was to start an IV, administer pain meds and take another set of X-rays once he was comfortable. My husband & I felt very confident in the care that Bugsy was receiving @ VEG, and we went home @ 11pm to rest. At 3am we received a call from one of the VEG docs informing us that the rocks were not moving through his system and he required emergency surgery to save his GI tract. His surgery was very successful and we are extremely grateful to the VET staff for their efficiently professional and caring demeanors! When all was said & done, there were a total of 26 rough & jagged rocks (1-3" in diameter) our knucklehead ate and either vomitted, pooped, or were manually removed during surgery! Our yard has been redesigned to incorporate boulders and the little decorative rocks have found a new place to live. If Bugsy manages to eat the Boulders, look for us in the "Guinness Book of World Records" ! read more

It's taken me some time to write this review. My sweet girl, Kona, passed away on Dec 20, 2022, but I constantly think about how well I was treated along with my sick pup at VEG Chandler. So much so, that I want all of everyone in Arizona to know about this amazing office and staff. I came in very distraught with a sick chihuahua who started with seizures out of the blue. I refused to go to the emergency hospital that is well known by my house off Alma School and Warner ever again, so I quickly looked up other emergency vets and VEG popped up right away. I immediately called. The person who answered I believe was one of the vets and told me to come down right away. So I drove 6 miles away to VEG. It was about 2 or 3 am. I was greeted by a team who whisked both myself and my dog back to their emergency room and I got to stay with her the whole time while they evaluated her. We were there a good hour or so. The vet helping me literally sat on the floor in front of me while I held my dog and sat on a couch and in the most gentle caring voice she gave me the rundown of what could be wrong. Unfortunately 2 days later I had to return at 4:30 am with Kona who began having cluster seizures, it was at that point I had to make a decision to put her down. This time the vet on duty was Kelsey Bradley. Again, another soft spoken, gentle, kind, compassionate, human being. I will be forever grateful for my treatment with VEG. I was such a wreck. These people were angels. I know I sound dramatic but when you've been treated differently at other animal hospitals and vet offices, you will know when you encounter the right hospital. Dr. Bradley and her team that night were amazing and were with me as I made the decision to let her go. I was taken into a comfortable lounge and private room as I said my goodbyes to Miss Kona. Please don't hesitate to use this group for emergency vet services. I even thought my bill was reasonable and I had to use them twice including a euthanasia. Thank you again to the entire VEG staff, including your sweet and kind vet techs. I will continue to tell everyone to visit your hospital if needed. read more

Veterinary Emergency Group ROCKS! I took Bernie to the VEG Chandler this morning and they were absolutely fanTAStic! They charge MUCH less than the "other" local emergency facility charges just to walk in ($150 vs $250). And, the service is quick, super friendly, they really love the animals, they give honest options instead of pushing expensive treatments right off the bat, ...they CARE! The tech took Bernie's vitals while on the couch next to me, then the Dr sat with us, gave him an injection for his back pain...everything right on the couch! Meantime, Bernie was already greatly improved by the afternoon. I think her diagnoses and Tx were spot on and we won't need to go back for xrays, etc. I HIGHLY recommend them! read more

Talk about putting emergency in customer service! This is hands down the best place I could ever take my dog! This was my third vet that I went to today and I was literally in tears while I was sitting there for the third time and the only place that was willing to work with me and help my little fur baby! I now am able to take him in tomorrow and can sleep tonight knowing he will be okay! Dr. Cat is amazing and all of the staff here is so friendly. Ive taken my foster dog to this ER vet twice and they are amazing, particularly Lynda, the Vet Tech. She treated my crazy foster with so much love and compassion. It is obvious that many of these people are in the absolute right profession. I love the way the nurses and vets come to the 'patient' by getting low on the floor to not intimidate the pet! Also they announce your pet on entering the exam hall. We have not finished our time here for results but so far psychologically very calming for patient and 'parent'. Now 24 hours later, my boy is doing better, did not need an x-ray or surgery. Eating normally as the problem was pain in a leg, not the gut. Also they follow-up to make sure all is well. read more

Took in dog around 10:30 p.m., checked in, someone came to take dog's temperature and check heart, no one came back after that, no one came back after that, no one came back after that!, no one checked on us, no one interacted with us, no one gave us a quick "hang in there" or apologetic smile, no one cared when we said we were leaving. There's no excuse for absolutely RUDE, unfeeling behavior. Even if this office was busy or had an emergency or was understaffed that's no excuse for absolutely RUDE, unfeeling behavior. I will stay up all night with my little one and get her to a better vet in the morning. I'm part of a large dog group and I will tell the other owners to avoid this place for their emergency care. And PLEASE DON'T REPLY with "I'm so sorry for your experience" as everyone knows it's just self-serving BULSHT! I bet you do it anyway... just to be a good robot. read more

My wife and I want to let others know about this amazing group of professional caregivers. We brought our 5 year old Chihuahua, Charlotte in for difficulty breathing. Charlotte's primary care veterinarian had been treating her and her condition got worse this week. We were impressed with the care given from the moment we walked in the door. I was not separated from Charlotte and was welcomed into the area for treatment. Dr. Bayless explained everything they would be doing to care of Charlotte. For over 24 hours, Dr. Bayless, Dr. Bradley and all the staff (wish I could name you all..but I don't remember everyone's name) took excellent care of not only Charlotte but of me. They welcomed me to stay by Charlotte's side the entire time she was receiving treatment. Everyone was welcoming and professional. Their work environment is positive. We will recommend VEG to anyone needing emergency care of their pet. VEG - Thank you for all you did to give us more time with Charlotte. read more

I was removing my dogs sutures and was concerned about one of the sutures. I called at 10:30pm and they told me to come in and they'd look at it. There was no wait, I was able to go back with her and hold her. We were in and out within minutes, they we so sweet, understanding, and helpful. We just left after waiting 5 plus hours without any medical care being provided for my dog. My poor dog has been struggling with gastrointestinal issues and needed diarrhea medication. You can't get this without seeing a vet and getting a prescription for same. Everyone was kind, and courteous and they were working hard. But, after being told it would be 2-3 hours, then 4 and now 5 plus hours and counting, we couldn't wait anymore. It became clear as more urgent patients continued to walk in, there was no way a vet was going to help my tiny dog. My suggestion to the staff regarding triage, if you can get low hanging fruit out the door quick, do it. It's an emergency all day, move the quicker ones out the door sooner. All we needed was a quick visit and script of medication to stop the diarrhea. My regular vet had zero appointments available until April 11, which is nearly 3 weeks from now. What a mess! Will I go back...I hope not. read more

This emergency Vet group is absolutely amazing. Caring doctors working in a clean comfortable setting. You're allowed to be right beside your pet at all moments. When we arrived there was a Doc and assistant at our side within minutes and were assessing our dog's distress immediately. They then gave us the details of the initial diagnosis followed by X-rays and test results. We had to leave our dog there overnight in ICU and return in the morning. We received updated text thru the night and a phone call early that morning telling us she had a full recovery. I would highly recommend the VEG group to any pet owner needing emergency care, you'll be glad you went there. read more

This hospital was one of the most poorly organized veterinarian hospitals ever! We checked in at 3:30 pm with our dog that had a possible bug or insect bite on his leg. They assumed it was a strain. We informed the nurses multiple times that his breathing was off and his temperature was rising. 4 and a half hours later at 8 pm a doctor final came into the room just to state it could be a broken bone and the bump we felt was a bone. The fever and breathing were just due to pain. Plan from there was pain medication and an X-ray. Which of course came back negative and forced them to shave his arm revealing a BITE MARK and purple coloration on his skin at approximately 9:45 pm. Not only did this diagnosis take almost 6 and a half hours the only solution we were then given was to put him down and they were sorry but nothing they could do. Almost 7 hours of him in pain and his body being poisoned just to have to say our goodbyes. This was upsetting and heartbreaking because behind all that time waiting was wasted hours we could have been finding a solution or antibiotic to stop the infection or at least spending with him in his home instead of a 5x8 room surrounded but other screaming animals yelling there last minutes alive as well. Don't worry though they were very timing about making sure fees were paid and a sorry was said. If you want your animal that part of your family saved, find a different hospital asap. Thank you. I'll now go to an empty home without our dog waiting to see us. read more
