We went to Dr. Gifford after recently moving to the east valley and not being satisfied with the last clinic we tried. The front desk staff were friendly along with the vet technicians. Dr. Gifford was so thorough about our dog's itching problem and talked us through all options for her treatment plan. Our other dog had 2 problem teeth and Dr. Gifford and his team took the best care of our little nervous guy for his tooth extraction and cleaning. Primary pet care, is the absolute very best place for you to take your pet. I've been taking our little sweet Shih-Tzu there for several years now. I truly can't say enough good things about Dr.Gifford and his entire staff. Our little girl was elderly with serious health issues. Dr. Gifford was so kind to Us through the whole process and care of our little girl. As well as the staff. We had to say goodbye to our baby this last Monday morning. Primary Pet Care was the office closest to me with the soonest availability so I took a chance and it paid off! The staff was nice and the wait was short. After the initial examination, I was given a list of services they recommended and the price for each one. I chose which ones I thought my dog needed the most and the staff took care of it quickly. Dr Gifford and his staff have demonstrated on multiple occasions that they truly have a passion for what they do and their clients (both human and animal). A few times I have needed to see them urgently due to various illness either of my pups have had. Though sometimes they didn't have appointments available, they would add me the a cancellation list and get me in as soon as they could. Which is very reasonable and I think above and beyond. When I first started bringing my first puppy to Primary Pet Care, the staff immediately showed him tons of love and care to make me and him comfortable. This level of attention was consistent with every visit. When I got my second pup, the decision to continue taking them to primary pet care was easy. I have also trusted Dr Gifford to do two operations on my pup and in both procedures him and his staff communicated effectively with me and gave me updates with all the needed information during the process. Though this office is not very close to my home, I will to travel because I can rely on the care they are going to receive. It was Anderson Animal Clinic. The new guy bought it.. gutted it and it's bare of any pictures or personal touches, just has stuff he's selling . Not even close to the personal touch it had before. My dog needed a blood draw to check his levels for a medication he needs. The vet is continually up-selling.. I'm not here to over-vaccinate my dog.. just listen to me as a customer!! They muzzled and dragged my dog to the back room to do a "check up" and give shots.. wtf? I told him I didn't want that. It's like my kid. The real vet before talked to you.. did the checkup with you there .. he would talk to you! actually cared for his patients and customers. I'm just a -$$$ for this new vet.. I ask a assistant a question.. she has to check with the dr. Can I pay and go? Have to ask the dr. Wtf is the dr? I was the only one there! I pay. Go home.. get a call.. they screwed up the blood test (the only damn reason I was there to begin with!). I need to go back for another (upsell?) It's been remodeled. It's like every other place now.. Nothing set it apart. I guess the remodel must be paid for.. that's on the customer now. I will see how it goes on part 2 when they retake my pups blood again. I went in after my cat was attacked and her foot became really infected. The office was clean and the tech and the vet were really nice. I did not feel rushed or like they were trying to push anything unnecessary on me. The final bill was much cheaper than I was anticipating which was a huge relief. READ THIS BEFORE YOU COME HERE: I called in to update some vaccines for my pet. To start off, the young kid that works at the front desk is utterly incompetent. He quoted me a price for the vaccine I needed and didn't even communicate that this office charges ADDITIONAL for an office visit for any type of vaccine provided to the pet. You can't just walk in and pay for a vaccine. Apparently the vet has to check the pet out for any type of vaccine administered. Therefore, you will automatically get charged an office visit of $50. Therefore I was surprised with an extra $50 for this visit. This includes any vaccine that has two doses! The next dose you come in for you will be charged an additional $50!!! Doesn't matter if the vet checked the pet out even a few days ago. This is utterly ridiculous. No one in the office had relayed this information. The vet briefly checks the pet out for a few minutes and there's your $50. The worst part of this was that the office does not tell their clients of this. Apparently this is the case with majority of vet clinics in Arizona. So beware of any other clinics you go to! Especially if you're on a budget. Make sure you ask them about any additional fees. I wasn't aware of this. Therefore it needed to be clearly communicated and it wasn't. Due to NO communication I'm rating this place POORLY. After some research I saw that the Arizona humane society offers low cost vaccines and they clearly state in their website there are no office visit fees! read more

I love this Vet! I brought my silky terrier in for a yearly check but mostly to address her seasonal allergies that were driving her crazy. Dr. Gifford took the time to answer all of my questions, he thoroughly explained the different medications that would help her and he made a plan. I'm happy to report that she is doing much, much better! The office is very clean, very professional without all of the knick-knacks found in other offices and the staff is friendly and efficient. read more

I take my cats and dog here for dental care and general health concerns and I am very impressed. I work in the medical field myself so I tend to ask thought provoking questions and the entire staff are very educated and competent. I also believe their prices are fair and they do not up sale you trying to get more money out of you for unnecessary treatment/ diagnostic tests. Give this practice a chance. I fully trust them and they have genuine care for the pets. We had a situation where my dog was having some facial acne and we were leaving for a trip over the weekend. When my 15-year-old husky hurt her leg, we called her regular vet. They referred us an emergency service because they weren't able to get her in for a couple of weeks. We called around and received the same answer from multiple places. It was then that we decided we needed to find a new vet. Our neighbor recommended Primary Pet Care as it was under new ownership and the owner is a local resident in our neighborhood. I called and they were able to get our hurt pup in the same day. Dr Gifford and his staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They didn't upsell anything ~ I figured we were going to come out of there with a hefty bill! I visited Primary Pet Care for the first time today and was very pleased! Front desk was great, Patty the vet tech was awesome and very nice, and Dr. Gifford was great! They suggested some additional services/tests without pressuring me into proceeding with them. I'm a young college kid and felt that they were great with talking to me and didn't talk down to me whatsoever. The clinic was super clean and the prices for vaccines were very reasonable.
