We love Dr. Senter, her husband Lou, and all the staff at Central Mesa Veterinary Hospital. We have been coming here for years, and I've never left without feeling my fur babies have gotten the best care. Our cat needed to have his teeth cleaned, and unfortunately, to have four teeth pulled. He did so well under the care of Dr. Senter! They do not pressure you to spend money on things that you don't need. They're required to offer certain things, but they're the first people to tell you if you don't need something. My cats are only indoors, so we skip a lot of the testing that cats need when they're out in the world. I've always felt supported when I've opted out of something. When there has been an emergency, even when there's no appointment available, they've had me drop off my kitty so that they can see her between appointments. I really appreciate that! This was the worst vet I've ever been to in my life. My GSD has a very dry nose. She didn't do anything all she did was look at the nose and try to charge me $447. On the list was an impression smear test. I asked for them to do that she refused. She also told me that she did not have any allergies, but then she prescribed me allergy medication. I will never return to this vet again.!!! The vet nurse that assisted her prior to the vet herself was very well knowledged!! read more

I brought my senior cat in for a physical exam and ear cleaning. The staff and techs were okay, but the veterinarian was unexpectedly rough with my cat. He did not exude warmth or care with her which I found upsetting. I had them clean her ears and I don't know what they did to her but they definitely made the problem worse. Also there was very little follow up. They called with her blood work results and gave me some limited information while I was at work and did not do any additional follow up on any questions I may have had about her condition or how they could help me get a Rx food for her etc. Pretty disappointed considering the stellar reviews on here. read more

We live around the corner from the clinic and one day we had to bring in our cat that suffered some type of break out, the experience was awesome and needless to say we have been bringing in the rest of our pets to this vet. We had our toy poodle get a dental cleaning and it's always nerve wrecking since they have to be put under anesthesia. We knew she had really bad teeth but did not know how bad it was since she is a rescue. They had to pull out 23 teeth but they made me feel so reassured that this would benefit her. After a week of her procedure she is like a new puppy!! She feels amazing, she is eating way better and best of all no stinky breath!!! Best money I have ever spent!! We recommend this vet to anyone who is looking for a vet that has heart and compassion for both pets and humans! Kitty had her temperature taken we wait we talk with Vet, explain concerns, she walks out then assistant comes back with a printout of what the vet wants, approx $250 blood workup, and $300 xrays !!! WHAT ?? No discussion, further discussion with Vet, no simple blood work to check for infection nada nothing. Seriously worst experience ever, brought the cat home, and went on google how to treat a hairball and she is fine now. Vet did not offer any remedy for hair ball, just wanted to rack up the bill. I took bot my cats here and they were able to get us in pretty quickly. The doctor and rest of the staff was super friendly! We were able to get estimates for everything before arriving and there were absolutely NO HIDDEN COSTS. Which impressed me. I was able to call and ask questions about the procedures after I had already left and the staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. This review is long overdue. My wife and I have been bringing our pets here for years. Yesterday we made an extremely difficult decision to have our Ocho put to sleep due to his age and health problems. It was one of the hardest things we've ever had to do. Dr. Senter, Lou and all the technicians are so respectful and nice. All of them are gentle and loving with our pets when we bring them in. Dr. Senter makes sure to throughly explain everything in her assessments and treatment plans. She answers any questions you may have and is reassuring. Our poor puppy was injured from her collar getting caught on her kennel and we were worried it would get infected. Our vet was closed so we decided to rush across town to the Central Mesa Veterinary Hospital. On the phone they stated they were booked for the day but could squeeze us in. Upon arrival, we were immediately put into a room and the doctor saw us shortly. They took amazing care of our child (puppy) and took their time explaining everything. They showed us the price and explained what the breakdown of each item was and gave us the choice on what medicines we wanted to purchase and not purchase; since money was an issue. The prices were fair and the care was exceptional and timely. Upon leaving, we asked if they could have our normal vet fax over her records because we are switching to this vet permanently. wow, Wow, WOW! I have been bringing my pets to Dr. Senter for the past couple of years. We started with my dog who has had general check ups, treatment for a digestive issue, and treatment for an ear infection. We rescued a cat from a shelter that ended up coming home with a URI and some conjunctivitis and later packed on a couple extra pounds. We just recently rescued another cat who started up with some sniffles and was also taken to see Dr. Senter for that and a general new-pet check up. I can honestly say, Dr. Senter and her staff are amazing and honest people who love pets and are more than happy to answer any questions you have. I've had questions about anything from certain diseases to the difference between clay and clumping litter and walked away fully informed! Every situation we have brought to them, be it a general check up or illness, has been treated with honesty and compassion. When it comes to tests and vaccines, Dr. Senter has always described what the tests/vaccines are for, why they should be done, and in some cases, why some vaccines were good to get done but totally optional (we keep our cats indoors only). They have never pressured us into anything and have always given us the options, knowledge, and informed us of the pros and cons, to make an informed and educated decision. In my experience with them, the staff will sit with you and show you the line up of tests/vaccines/supplements/meds with the price and allow you to decide what you want before getting it done, while answering ANY questions you have on them. I've been able to line up my pet's priorities (like ear infection medicine, or a stool test in the case of digestive issues) first and leave other things that were not as urgent for the follow up visit. In the case of my fat cat, she gave us the -option- of trying a certain food, which we did, and provided a feeding plan that helped our cat shed the pounds! She has never given us the run around and the medicines she provided for our minor and basic cases, did the trick the first time around. They have always called us back to follow up after visits and answer any basic questions. Dr. Senter and all of her staff are simply amazing and when people say they go above and beyond, they truly do!! This is why I have brought my pets here time and time again!! read more

We've been patients with Dr. Senter for 4 years now, and I'll never seek out another vet. They understand that I'm a pet parent, not an owner, and they are great about answering questions. You can tell that they love animals by how they fawn over yours in each appointment. This place is AMAZING. I needed an emergency visit for my cat and they were able to get me in same day after calling vets all over. I had another emergency with my kittens a few weeks later, and again they were able to see me same day without any crazy fees. The doctor and techs were super sweet, very knowledgeable, and didn't nickel and dime me. They presented all options, but were willing to chat with me to find out what was necessary and what we could hold off to save money. This is the best vet that I have ever been to, and I have been to many with exotic and just your run of the mill pets. Dr. Senter by far is the best one that we have come across, and our animals just LOVE her. We used to see a vet in Scottsdale, and we picked them because they were open on Saturdays and Sundays. The doctor talked down to us, and treated us like we were morons when we didn't know all the high-tech terms that she was using, and basically called us bad dog parents because we didn't know what we were doing when we asked questions on anything--hello, how do you learn!? We found Dr. Senter through United Pet Care, and chose her simply because she was open Saturdays. There are a few pet clinics that are closer to us, but now that we've met, and dealt with Dr. Senter, we will never go back to another doctor! She is the most kind and caring person, and has no problem talking about your dogs and their needs / problems and explaining them to you so that you can understand it. Last year we had a mysterious problem come up with our dog which yielded a lot of different tests. When we asked her opinion on what we should do; her first option was not the most expensive, which showed she didn't just care about being paid, or putting our dog through a myriad of unnecessary tests if we didn't have to. She or someone from her staff always calls with results as soon as they get them. We have never had to call and say "hey it's been a week, what the heck is going on with my dog?" She and her staff have called me a few times throughout the day when one of our dogs had his teeth cleaned because I was freaking out about him being put under anesthetic. We even got a call after we had to take our dog to another emergency clinic (on a Sunday because they weren't open) to see how our dog was doing. That is going above and beyond anything that I have ever seen. Dr. Senter and her staff are in it because they really do care about your animals and their wellbeing. I just recently got a puppy and brought her to Central Mesa vet hospital. I am so happy I found This clinic! Dr. Senter and her staff are so welcoming from the moment you get there. With everything going on right now I was unsure if they would let me go inside, and they did. They walked me and my pup straight into the room so we aren't waiting in the lobby. I did not have to wait long and I was able to ask questions without feeling like I was a bother or taking all of their time. They were able to get us scheduled within the week and the are very reasonable with their fee's. Absolutely one of the best vets we have used so far! We have a high maintenance pup with epilepsy and they have been so helpful with finding the best medication to give her the most control of her seizures! They suggest what they think is the best option but are more than willing to work around your budget and find the best alternatives. Their small office has always been quiet and not stressful on my dogs (which is great for my epileptic one). They have always gotten us in very quickly and the staff is incredibly friendly. All the staff know me and my dogs names when we walk in or call, which means a lot to me. We have recently moved up North and I hope we can find another vet as friendly and supportive as Central Mesa Vet was to us and our pups! read more

I agree with all of the other five star reviews. We have 3 dogs and 3 cats. We moved recently from California. We are very particular that we get the best care for our pets. Dr senter and her staff are fantastic. They spend time answering all questions and seeing that the best care is given to your pet. Our German shepherd rescue is terrified of vets and acts out. I was concerned that they wouldn't be able to handle her. Not only did they treat her but were very kind to her and us. I am so grateful to find dr senter. The fees are VERY reasonable. We started coming to Central Mesa Vet about 6 months ago. Unfortunately they didn't know our pets long before both of them started having issues that caused us to visit quite often. Our bullmastiff was very protective of us but the Dr was very understanding when he would growl and snap, I've noticed that not a lot of vets understand when a dog is simply acting like a dog. This was huge for us, it really cemented that this vet was the perfect fit for our family. When we found out our bullmastiff had bone cancer they were really helpful and super caring. We had to put him down in their office in March and they really helped us through it. We still have a healthy bulldog and now a new french mastiff and I wouldn't take them anywhere else. read more

I am so happy with my new vet! We had to bring our 3 year old cat in about 3 weeks ago because she started peeing outside the litter box. I have done a lot of research online and I know that inappropriate urination is very hard to treat, especially if it has a behavioral cause. Dr. Senter spent a long time discussing our cat's symptoms, possible causes, and interviewing us to find out what the home environment is like. She gave us some very practical advice and was flexible and worked with us when certain suggestions seemed unrealistic for our household. She has called us several times to follow up and see how our treatment plan is working. We used to take our cats to a vet who was very obviously a "dog person" and I appreciate being able to talk to a vet who has cats of her own. Someone referred us to Dr Senter for a 2nd opinion and I could not of asked for a better Dr!! She was amazing! So kind and gentle and so incredibly informative! She took the time to show us exactly what was wrong, and explain it in detail! She referred us to a trusted Specialist where we had the surgery done.
