Ethically and morally wrong practices there. My 19 year old daughter made an appointment for her kittens vaccines and they pressured her into unnecessary testing by fear mongering! Naming all the diseases the kitten could possibly have. Told me it was recommended she didn't have to agree. The appointment was for vaccines! They took advantage of my daughter because they wanted to make a dollar. Then lied and said it is necessary to get the testing if you want to vaccinate to cover their wrong doing. They only care about making money off of your animal not doing the right thing. smh by the way her kitten tested negative for everything so like I said took advantage of my 19 year old who doesn't have enough life experience to understand what she agreed to and that it wasn'timmediate and could have waited. Do better staff of Paws! I'm a single mom of 4 and that money could have been used for my kids needs instead of your greediness. read more

I've been bringing my three dogs to this clinic for 12 years, and we always had a great experience with original doctor. Unfortunately, after the doctor Wendy retired, our experience with new doctor has been disappointing. Recently took my 12-year-old puppy, Simon in for his annual checkup, since he's older dog during the exam i was curious about vitamins or supplements for him.. the doctor suggested we start with blood test first, which seemed reasonable. However she keeps repeating that is going to be $300... okay After the test was done, I was told the doctor would call me little later that day -but never heard from anyone. I reached out multiple times, leaving notes, but no one got back to me. Six days later, I decided to drive to the clinic just to get any kind of answer.. This lack of communication was frustrating, especially when I was trying to make sure Simon gets the care he needs. I really wish the new doctor would have taken the time to know my pets names and shown more consideration for our long-standing relationship with the clinic. .. I was there 2 days before with my other dog Charlie... and two days later doctor dont even know or care who I was... Not sure what going on there, maybe she's just "Tired " or don't want to be there... It's been a disappointing experience, and i hope things improve for them in the future... Can't say enough good about this place! Found a bunch of good reviews on Nextdoor of all places after searching every where else til my eyes crossed. Marley up front was a pleasure to deal with on the phone and in person even tho she was extremely busy. She made time for me and my questions, acted professionally, and never made me feel rushed which I really appreciated. Wendy helped me next and was also a pleasure to work with. Answered all my questions about ear mites and possibly a surgery to repair a hematoma in her ear (my cat). She was very helpful and caring which I also appreciated. The doctor (I'm sorry I forgot her name) was also very helpful. I definitely recommend this clinic for your pets. Five star service for sure! read more

This vet had good reviews so I took my dog who is fine, except with Vets, to them for nail trim & anal gland cleaning. TERRIBLE MISTAKE!! They were anything but compassionate & caring. They man-handled him so badly so that when they brought him back he was so traumatized he shook & panted hard for about 20 minutes while I tried to calm him. I had warned them ahead of time he was wary of vets & all they did was confirm to him that vets are a terrible place to be. It's heartbreaking the way he was treated! read more

Not a good experience twice in a row. Be careful because they try to force you into buying their product. Once I told them I would order from Chewy they rejected to give me the prescription. it was very wrong the way they did it - and sadly lost two patience over this. Felt very scetchy and wrong! I had to pay them more money for the test ( heart worm) otherwise no prescription - even after I signed a release. It was the second I didn't buy their product, I had a problem. unbelievable!!! read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. Holst and the entire paws veterinary team. We have been going here for sometime with just about all of our fur babies. Our two Saint Bernards Hercules and Big Ben love the staff. We recently ran into a problem with Hercules and Dr. Holst And the entire crew did everything possible to make sure our big baby came home safe. Adopted a doggo from the pound and found this vet on the list of "complimentary wellness checks" list. Called and was put on hold for 5+ minutes, no apologies, but whatever. Told the receptionist our situation, "free well check for adopted doggos), she proceeded to count out ten days out on the calendar and said "we can see you on X, which was 11 days out... My cat hasn't been to the vet aside from when he was a kitten. He isn't declawed and is so scared of anything new that he pees when stressed. Today I took him in for a check up and to get shots before a long 17 hour drive to move to a new state. They gave him some medication to help ease his stress on the drive and were great with him. He sat still for the whole thing! All the staff treated him like family and I never felt judged or as if I was asking a silly question Only thing I regret is not going sooner. Fair prices. Did not like my experience with the vet at this clinic when I took my dog a year ago after I got him from the shelter! She assumed just because my dog was snappy and nervous that he had behavioral issues and was dangerous. Turns out she was sorely mistaken! After taking him to another Vet, who recommended blood tests, he was diagnosed with Valley Fever and the vet said that is why he was so nervous and seemed to have behavioral issues. Wish Dr. Holst would've taken the time to see the whole picture instead of just passing judgement right away! It's also unfortunate that the low reviews don't pop up automatically for this place, people need to see all reviews to make a good decision about their pet's next Veterinarian. read more

Out of the many visits, there was only one time that I felt I had to wait. Overall never had a bad experience. My rotties have always loved this place, pitties not so much. I love this place. We met her when we brought home our first rescue dog and continued for more than 10 years even after the beloved dog was euthanized due to cancer. She is so knowledgeable and compassionate. Paws Veterinary Clinic is an amazing Clinic!!! I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for a friendly and most helpful staff to tend to your 4 legged family members! They helped us out today so much! My dad and I went in as walk in's because our shih tzu has been having some very bad discharge in his left eye and slowly started to infect the other eye as well as this made him just lay in bed all day without eating and of course we were getting worried, so we took him to the Emergency Animal Clinic in Gilbert and after a $150 dollar bill(granted it was on a sunday so maybe they were getting routed or something) all we got was some eye drops to help "clear them up". After that we went to a different Vet and they pretty much gave us pan medications for him. Then today after not being able to see our little buddy in so much pain we went to paws and were greeted by some lovely young ladies they told u that Dr. Holst was in the middle of surgery but if we wanted to wait we were more than welcomed to, so we did and i felt bad because they hadn't gone to lunch yet and they went straight to helping us out well when Dr. Holst did her treatment she actually checked his eyes and actually found a foxtail grass weed under in his eye! at that point she proceeded to taking it out and our little furry buddy finally loosened up to have such a relief taken out of him! This made my dad and I pretty upset because taking him to multiple vets and getting quotes of $800+ for surgeries is outrages when all they had to do was a simple eye check! In any ways Dr. Holst performed a couple more treatments that the other vets did not do and prescribed a couple of medications for him. Oh and yea she also helped us get rid of some of our buddies ear wax build up free of charge! I really like the service of Paws. It's small and has a nice independent feel to it. I've taken my cat in twice. Once for a check up and another so he could get neutered. They answered all my questions and even gave me some help with his post-surgery behavior. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. If I wasn't moving I would definitely take my cat back there for his annual again. read more

Dr Holst & her staff are amazing. Recently I had to put my little boy Todd down. They got me in right away, the staff was very compassionate. I took my miniature Dachshund, Spottie, who is ten years old, for a check-up. I had the United Pet Care policy for him and as a result it was not as expensive. He got his distemper vaccine, and a overall check-up. I love the diagnostics this clinic gives. They give you a printout and very detailed explanation of each "issue" your little critter has. They give you options and are less expensive than other veterinarians in the Mesa area. I found it funny that my little dog is somewhat snappy and he hated the doctor but loved the vet techs. read more

I worked at Paws for many years and started back when she was still located off mesa dr and can say first hand that making sure each animal is given the best care whether they are sick or just in for routine exam and vaccinations is her number one priority as well as making sure each customer receives the best customer service. I have three dogs and have been coming to this veterinarian since I moved to the area a few years ago. A couple if weeks ago I took in two of my dogs to be treated. I was told that I was being given 3 ml of a medication that I would give to one if my dogs twice a day in .12 ml doses. I was told this should last me about a month. I used the syringe that was given to me by the dr. and gave my dog exactly .12 ml twice a day as directed but the medication only lasted a week. I returned a check up call from the office today and let them know that I was not given as much medication as I was advised I was getting and that it only lasted a week. The person I spoke to left a message for someone to call me back. I did get a call back from Kate with a voice mail while I was at work. In the message Kate stated that the dr wanted to see my dog again and that I should have been giving my dog .12 ml, the meds should have lasted much more than a week, and that I over medicated my dog. I called the office and asked to speak to Kate. I told her that I medicated my dog exactly as instructed and that I have her .12 ml twice a day. She insisted that I was given 3ml of medication and that had I correctly medicated my dog it would have lasted longer. She refused to admit or entertain the idea that someone on their end may have made a mistake when measuring the medication that was give to me. After a lengthy argument in which she did nothing but insist that the error was in my dosing and not in their dispensing and a very insincere apology I hung up. So I have now paid 300.00 for a vet visit, which included medication that was not dispensed to me, and my dog still has the same issue she was seen for AND I am looking for a new office to take my dogs to so I can pay someone else to see my dog for the same issue that should have been resolved with our 300.00 visit to Paws. I will be visiting the office tomorrow to speak to the dr. And request a partial refund for the medication since I paid for more than I was given as well as to pick up my pet's records. read more

I brought my 2 weeks old puppy because he was restless, wasn't eating and he was getting dehydrated. Dr Holst told me just to keep him warm and feed him formula, she said it was normal for puppies to get sick and possibly die. I came home with my hopes crushed and the puppy died 2 hours later. My other puppies got sick too, and I was not going to pay the same vet to tell me is normal for puppies to die, so I took them somewhere else and it turned out my female had mastitis and so did the puppies. Seriously, you would assume that a vet with such experience will recognize these symptoms in a puppy and all she says is normal for puppies to die, are you kidding me?? I'm never coming back there. read more
