You cannot bring loved ones back but you can prevent tragedies from happening in the future. 1. My loved one (LO) fell at least four times, so badly to the point where there were open bloody wounds and injuries on the face and legs. LO was crying because they were left for hours in soiled diapers. That only means that the nursing assistants were physically harming residents, neglecting care and supervision. 2. The social work department had care plan meetings without informing me/the family/legal health care proxy when the patient could not make medical decisions for themselves. They also transferred my LO to another floor, again, without informing me. 3. After setting up a date to leave this place, the social work dept denied and delayed discharge to home and could not get a doctor or NP to explain why. I had to find out in the most devastating way, way too late, and not from Cypress Garden. The medical team never informed me that LO had a positive covid test amongst numerous covid positive staff and residents in the facility. There are a multitude other reasons as to why this place is appalling and continue to not take responsibility. I never heard from the administration or care team afterward. My heart goes out to all the residents and families that have experienced horrific, improper care, and negligence from Cypress Garden. If your loved one or family member passed away from this facility from March 2020 to March 2021, you can send me a message on Yelp.

I have been a resident for a few months now and I highly recommend it. The location is extraordinary. It is on a quiet street, but two blocks from the hustle and bustle of downtown Flushing with its many stores and transportation options. Manhattan is an easy commute, just a 5-minute walk to the LIRR station and a 15-minute ride to Penn Station or Grand Central. I work part-time in Manhattan, and I've never had an easier commute! Queens College, with its plays and excellent musical offerings, is a quick ride on a nearby bus. Flushing Town Hall with its stellar jazz program is four blocks away. The beautiful Flushing Library is an easy walk, as is Macy's and one of the best pizzerias in Queens. Here at Flushing House itself, there are many interesting offerings - book club, language clubs, exercise programs, both domestic and foreign movies, and a lovely rooftop atrium that is open 24 hours a day. There are many food options at each meal and, once you realize all the choices you have ( on and off the menu) you can always find something you like. One can pick up meals and take them back to one's apartment, but the communal dining room has been a way for me to meet other residents and make the acquaintance of some lovely people. The staff is kind, hardworking and understanding with residents (even when a resident might be cranky!). My apartment is very sunny, clean, and comfortable, and weekly housekeeping is included. If you are an active older adult wondering what the next step in life should be, come to one of the frequent open houses that Flushing House hosts and see for yourself. You may find, as I did, that it is a lovely place in a great location with a price that is very reasonable considering all that is included.

She was professional, personable, extremely knowledgeable, patient, empathetic, caring, ............. I could go on and on with superlatives, but I'm sure you get the picture. She made what would normally would be a very stressful situation, just the opposite. We felt both seen and heard. The tour lasted 3 hours, but we never felt rushed, pressured or patronized. This allowed my wife and me to ask all the questions and get all the information needed to make an informed decision! Thank you Marlo, you are the best!!

When I raised this issue with the social worker, she repeatedly suggested I was making up the discharge date that they notified us of. This made setting up post discharge care needlessly difficult. There were also several packages that were delivered to my father, but not opened for him to access the contents (clothing), even with me calling several times to remind them that it's not enough to give him the sealed package, it needs to be opened. The first time, it took five days after delivery for him access the clothing we sent. Every time we called, we've received assurances, and they've lost my trust to follow through with their word. I would not recommend this rehab facility. Edit; after placing several additional calls, the person in charge of discharges finally returned my call the day before I go pick up my father to tell me he cannot be discharged tomorrow. She spends a significant of the phone call arguing with me, insisting that we spoke yesterday when we had not. She tells me if I'm picking him up it has to be at 11 AM. This would've been a great piece of information to relate to me sooner than the day before I am scheduled to travel across the country to pick him up on the flight I booked two weeks ago. She accuses me of "playing games" and refuses to connect me with somebody else. I still don't know if they will make a referral for him to have post discharge care. Although I have repeatedly told her I need this at this point, I have no confidence that she will actually do it.
