We hired him to renovate our *original 1986* en suite master bathroom and guest bathroom and are SO glad we did. We knew our master en suite would be a challenge because we wanted to add a skylight, a wall-to-wall shower niche, and a tub-in-shower wet area. From the start, you can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work. Jose meticulously planned every detail; how to reframe around any wiring/pipes for the niche so it can support itself, installing a special drain that not only drains from inside the tub, but also surrounding the tub, sloping the marble floor tiles so the water flows to the individual drains, etc. etc. They were able to completely gut out the en suite, update some damaged framing, reposition/restructure a support beam, fully patch up some light water damage the bathroom had caused, and finish the job on time. He even figured out a way to add a skylight despite the complicated roofline we had. He was very informative every step of the way and I learned SO much. Cruz Construction was also one of the few companies that allowed us to supply finishing materials as an effort to stay under a certain budget for both bathrooms. We ordered all of the fixtures, tiles, grout, lights, toilets, shower doors, etc., but had a hard time finding the right vanity for our space, so Jose was able to supply a custom built one that checked all the boxes! He also supplied a very specific LED light strip for our special shower niche and the grey shower pan to match our floor tiles. Just very thoughtful details that made a huge difference. There were a few hiccups as expected with such a big project with so many moving parts, but Jose was great at correcting and following through on every detail. I also need to mention that they worked so CLEAN! They taped off our floors and stairs the very first day with some quality barriers and swept up at the end of every single day. A detail I really appreciated. Special shout-out to Alex, who was at our house pretty much daily for 6 weeks to lay down all the exquisite tile work and more! Including some before and after photos. Having had such a great experience with Salvador and crew on our shed and outbuilding re-roofing project, I called them out to fix the chimney flashing work that the other roofer performed. Wesley (who, if I remember correctly, was the foreman on our outbuilding job) came out about a week after I reached out to properly fix the other company's mistake. After seeing the pictures, I am confident we have the right repair up there. Pricing, as usual, was very reasonable and a good value. And, as a side note - the work they did on the outbuildings has held up for three seasons very well. We had a bit of a tricky situation with the larger outbuilding, which required some clever engineering on their part to get water to drain off a gently sloped porch roof. The custom metal work they did for the gutters has worked very well to get water where it needs to go. They are "our" roofers going forward and assuming they are around whenever we need to re-roof or get a repair (which, hopefully... is a long way's off) - they will be my first contact.

Used him again for a different kind of job - replacing an in-wall air-conditioner. He was very good…read moreat responding to text messages, worked us in quickly, and was flexible when Home Depot delayed our order. He was also very good at fitting the new AC into the space for the old one and ensuring it was sealed and weather proofed. However, when he finished the work, he left large boxes and packing materials scattered where he opened them and filling our kitchen floor and on the dining room table. He didn't do anything to organize the mess or break down the boxes. He said most of it was recyclable and he wouldn't do anything with it. Left us to clean up after he left and figure out how to manage and get rid of these large heavy boxes. Additionally, he had put the old AC on our deck. We asked if he would recycle the old AC and he agreed - charging us an additional $200 to take it. When he put it on our deck, it left piles of black (not sure what) that we had to clean after he left. Additionally, I had purchased a new bracket to support the new air-conditioner. He decided without consulting me to use the old bracket instead. (Hopefully it last for the long run!)

UPDATE: Three years on and I can no longer say LYD's work was completely satisfactory. A few months…read moreafter the renovation we had a sewage-like odor in our bathroom. We thought maybe it was the toilet. We bought a new toilet and had it professionally installed. The plumbers didn't notice anything wrong with the waste pipe connection. For three total years the smell persisted. Finally we hired more plumbers specifically to diagnose this issue. They blew smoke down the vent pipe on our roof and the whole house immediately filled with smoke, indicating a major hole somewhere. They opened up the bathroom drywall while we watched and we all let out a collective gasp when we saw the issue (see picture). Seemingly one of the original workers sawed through the internal vent pipe from the sink leading to the vent stack and either didn't notice or covered it up. We have had no work done to that wall since LYD's work. We also have pictures of the fully opened wall as LYD was starting work and the pipe does not appear cut in the photos. So we feel confident saying this issue was caused by LYD.
