I was impressed by reading the 5 star reviews on Yelp and contacted Axel & Aaron Painting. We sent photos of the job to Kimberly (as requested) first, and received thier verbal quote from her. Since we hadn't met in-person and the quote was just verbal off of the photos, we wanted to meet them at our rental property to review the scope of work. My husband and I met at our rental property with the two owners, Pedro and Kimberly, and all went well. My husband spent considerable time with Pedro discussing the prep work needed. We felt comfortable proceeding, and even told them about our next job, in hopes that they could also do that (if all went well). But on Day 1 things did not go well. Two workers came to pressure wash, but Pedro was never onsite. The workers were done and left within 2 hours, before we could get back to the rental to see the work. It's a large deck and large porch with raijlings, and we found many areas had been missed, so we called them to let them know right away. My husband sent them photos as well showing the mildew and dirty areas that still needed more pressure washing (see some of the photos). We expected Pedro would of course want to come back out himself that afternoon, or the next day, Day 2, since the prep and painting wasn't going to start until Day 3, so there was still time. Kimberly, after receiving the photos, was dismissive and told us by phone "this is normal and those areas can just be sanded before painting". You cannot sand away, or paint over the mold/mildew they left behind. I think it would likely have taken 1 hour more of pressure washing and they would stay on track to start prep and paint/stain on Day 3 (the second day of work) but there was no response or assurance from Pedro it would be addressed. That evening they sent the bid with an extra $300 add-on for the "option" of two colors "IF" we were to decide to paint the railings white. This was the first and only written proposal, and it seemed fair, so we were still ready to proceed. We just needed confirmation from Kimberly, or a callback from Pedro that they would come back to finish the missed areas since. There was no still no reply. Instead, the next morning, we got an email as follows: "Unfortunately, we won't be able to complete your staining project as planned. As we mentioned before, pressure wash was completed. Sorry we couldn't meet your expectations.". This is very unprofessional and caused us (and our tentants) a huge inconvenience. We saw RED FLAGS, and we were beginning to question if we should go any further with them. I am certain the quality would have been shoddy.

He was VERY thorough when looking at the project, he checked the flooring in all of the adjacent rooms for signs of rot. His price was reasonable and noted that there could be additions depending on what was found once everything was opened up. Needless to say, more was found! But his additional charges seemed very reasonable to repair the damage. Additionally, we received a defective vanity from Home Depot. He ordered a replacement but when that arrived it was also defective...then he worked some sort of magic using doors and or drawers from one in the other to make it look correct. I really appreciated the extra effort. Communication was excellent throughout the project with both myself and the tenant. I will absolutely hire him again when I have a project.

Dec 16, 2020, Hired Mike Howard to repair structural damaged to my home caused by extensive dry rot…read moredamage. This was not a trivial job. The dry rot had compromised a main structural corner beam which supported the second story. The repair would first require building a temporary support to hold up the second story while removing the damaged support beam and replacing all of the dry rot wood. The repair process required first coordinating with a structural engineer to design a repair plan and then with the Snohomish County office to issue a repair permit. Mike was very helpful through the entire process. Mike was confident that he could perform the repair safely and within code without an engineering drawing, but suggested that the drawing would likely be required for the county to issue the permit. I decided to get the engineering drawing and Mike was right. The county flat out said that this repair required an engineering review and drawing. I told Mike I would hire him for the job, but only after I saw and understood what the repair plan entailed. Mike met with the engineer to discuss the repair job and then Mike outlined for me exactly how he would complete the repair. While listening to Mike explain the repair process it was apparent to me that he completely understood the structural design of a home. Having a contractor with this type of experience and knowledge was the only way I would go. Mike was a pleasure to work with. He answered all of my questions with integrity and no BS. I decided to take the 2 days off to watch the work performed. Mike had no issues with this. He discussed the work while it was in process and I always felt comfortable with his decisions and confidence. The work was done in accordance to the engineering drawing and the permit was signed off and closed without any issues. I was a bit of a skeptic with all the glowing reviews but figured, let give him a shot and like many other customers, I couldn't be happier with this decision. Gabriel stands by his work and goes above and beyond with customer service. For exterior house painting, his bid came in competitive and he indicated he would provide 2 coats of paint. As we walked around the house I was impressed by all the items he was calling out that they would take care of after pressure washing and for prep along with his attention to detail. When they showed up to do the work, I provided input on a few things just to make sure that it wouldn't be missed during prep and they always said sure, we'll take care of it without hesitation. Gabriel even helped me understand their process further and explained a few things to me, which I appreciated. I had a WONDERFUL experience with Oleksandr and his team at Kovch Construction!…read more There were over a dozen huge holes in my walls after doing a full plumbing repipe in my new house, so everything needed drywall patches, mud, paint, and texture. There were also holes through the backs of the cabinets under every sink. I collected a LOT of estimates. Most people wanted over twice what Oleksandr quoted - and didn't have the glowing positive reviews he has, especially noting the quality and cleanliness of his work. Spoiler warning: the other reviews were right! Oleksandr and his team were so polite and professional (including punctual and communicative!). Whenever I asked a question or pointed out something important to me (like carefully covering the brand-new mini-split to protect it from drywall dust, or making sure my gecko's heater was safe near the plastic sheeting), they listened carefully and made sure I was satisfied with the answer. That's a big deal for someone with schema about "not bothering people". There were a LOT of little touches that proved they cared and respected my property. I felt comfortable and secure leaving my house for three days while they worked. The other companies I asked told me they "couldn't repair" the sink cabinet holes, despite the fact that I kept the removed pieces which had pretty clean edges. One guy insisted he would only repair them with plywood, but most said I would just have to live with the holes. Oleksandr set my expectations that he could reinstall the pieces, but they might not look perfect. That was fine by me! And yet, they actually ended up FAR better than expected. They fixed the drywall, replaced the cabinet pieces, and sealed the edges - sure you can see the cabinet repairs if you look for them, but in ambient lighting, the under-sink patches are pretty well unnoticeable. The quality of the finished wall work totally blew me away. You would never have known there were holes everywhere. I absolutely marveled when they were done - walking around my house with my mouth agape, like I'd never been in a house before. I'm not exaggerating - I'm so, so pleased. They even smoothed out the ugly screw pops in my stairway! These pros left my place EXTREMELY clean considering how horribly messy drywall dust is. What little I found after they left couldn't even count as being "dusty" (and not a SPECK was on the mini-split). And they remembered to put the carpet protectors back on my sofa feet when they moved it back into place, and very kindly checked the exact placement of my home theater speakers (of utmost concern to me). This kind of project is super stressful for anyone, and especially for a first-time homeowner. It's rare and difficult to find businesses you can trust in this world. I'm so grateful to Oleksandr and his team for making this process so easy on me, and with fantastic results - it couldn't have gone any better even if I'd paid twice as much. I'll definitely call Kovch Construction next time I need anything they do, and I'll gladly recommend them to everyone who mentions a similar project to me!

He came to look at my project in person, gave me a high-level estimate on the spot (which I of course would not hold him too, but it was nice for transparency). They arrived every day at 9am sharp, as they said they would and completed in 3 days (also as promised), and it looks perfect! Looks like they installed it over brand new framing.
