First time trying bouldering so I don't have much of a reference point. The place is large and has so many different paths to take at various difficulties! They marked it very clearly with the level so it's easy to see how you would try to follow the path. It was fun and felt clean and safe with large cushy mats everywhere. It didn't feel too hot or too cold, restrooms are clean and they have some other gym equipment on the edge as well. The price seems kinda high with the day pass being $27.

Finally, a climbing oasis in the heart of Tyson's! Vertical rock is a fantastic bouldering-only climbing gym. It's strategically located, basically 25 min from any other climbing gym in the area; which is perfect, because the community really needs a gym there. So with the other gym options available, why would someone choose Vertical Rock? Vertical Rock is more of a bespoke climbing gym. It offers a uniqueness that no other gym has. It doesn't have corporate pre-fab walls. It has home-grown textured walls that have a super "outdoors" feel to them. Adding to the oasis feel, it has a little picnic patch in the middle of all the climbs. Why it's there is a mystery to me. But my friends and I love it. I spoke to the owner. Right? In which climbing gym have you been to where the owner is just walking around doing their thing? The staff are super helpful and just remember you immediately. There are around +140 routes with holds I had honestly never seen before. I've travelled to different climbing gyms in the US, islands, Europe, and Asia and there were a lot of new surfaces to play with there. I also liked the texture of their padding. When I fell, the padding was firm so my ankles didn't roll but it had a lot of give so even when I fell from up high, it didn't sting. Currently, because the walls are so new and sticky, the climbs do feel a little "softer," but with all the "new" gyms I've visited, after about a year or so, the grading tends to even out. Currently, I like how approachable their climbs are. They have a good setting style that clearly shows the different grades. Their routes are super festive and unique. You just have to visit to feel what I'm talking about. Keep in mind their soft open was only a few days ago, so the signage isn't up yet. Just go to the chick-fil-a and go behind it. Follow the signs for the coffee shop. Currently, I would have two suggestions since it's their soft open - the bathroom sinks uses the super high tech faucets. They are so high-tech their sensors stop them from dispensing soap, water, or air... we've all seen that. You still get water from The faucet but the water splash causes all types of sensor related chaos. Also, I would suggest more vacuuming on the crash pads. I loved falling but I ended up with dusting of chalk on me when I left. I had so much fun I plan to be back in a few days. It also seems like a totally inviting place to have events like climbing group meet ups. So excited for this great new little gem!!!

I had come here several times last year, and just this past Tuesday weekend, I came here with my girlfriend. This is for sure one of my favorite places to come for fun! I've also me some people along the way, and I really like the vibe of this place. A few times when I came here, I was able to get some work done in their really awesome cafe. They have a great assortment of pastries, as well as, great coffee. I am a quasi experienced climber, and I can remember starting out climbing during my college years back in Long Island, an I've always had a blast. I've noticed that Saturday and Sunday are their bussiest times, which makes sense for most people, including us. So we rolled-in at around 8am, grabbed some quick coffee, then laced-up! Always a great time!

Spent my son's 20th here. Enjoyable day. Safe, clean, well staffed. Looked to have climbing for all ages.
