A covered picnic area with several tables and benches located right between the two play areas provides excellent visibility for caregivers keeping track of kids playing on both sides and serves as a perfect snack/rest spot or pre/post playtime picnic location. It's also great for small birthday parties and other gatherings. Beyond the playground area, the park also offers a full size playing field with soccer nets on each side and even a small four level stand of seats on the far side of the field for viewing games and activities held there by neighborhood sports teams and whatnot. A very nice paved bike trail loops around the entire park and is perfect for kids to ride, scoot and run around on and maintain a view of the park and their grownups at all times. My kids usually bring bikes or scooters when we go, and then they switch between playing on the playgrounds, riding around the trail, running and playing on the fields, and snacking/hydrating at the picnic tables...and then back through all of those again as many times as they can before it's time for us to go home. It's one of our favorite parks in the area. And there are tons here so that's saying a lot.

There's a track around the playground and green space that kids ride scooters and bikes on. The playground itself is built more for older kids with ropes to climb to access the slide. There's enough shade and places to sit. Sadly, there aren't restrooms.

Perfect for a stroller, and some nature scavenger hunts. The playground itself is huge and looked really well cared for. The toddler area was unfortunately closed during our visit, but the rest of the space more than made up for it. There are tons of benches and seating all around, and you can see most of the playground from just about anywhere, which is so helpful when you're keeping an eye on kiddos. There's a massive covered pavilion area that would be perfect for group meetups or a picnic in the shade. And while it was still closed for the season, the splash pad/water park area looked like fun! Definitely planning to come back in the summer to check it out! Such a great spot to have in the area!

This has to be one of the largest parks in Arlington County. It pretty much has everything…read morerecreation related except for a pool. There are also several park benches and a few of them have the roof canopy for those doing the picnic thing. I even saw a baseball practice area which is also enclosed. When I came today in a Sunday, there were several groups playing tennis and about twenty people playing volleyball which was cool. Having been stationed here for a short period of time, I wasn't even aware that the park existed. The park is located next to a library and it seems like there are also several condo buildings nearby.

There are shady spots and benches for grownups seeking to escape the sun, always a bonus since there is some regulation on the books that require all playgrounds to be devoid of the slightest shadow at midday. Only drawback is that unlike many Arlington parks there are no restrooms, so of course after about 15 minutes of playing my daughter realized her bladder could no longer hold all the Boylan's cream soda she'd imbibed at D.T. with her lunch.

The best thing about it, in my opinion, is that there is a continuous looped trail for bicycling along the outskirts of the park. It's the closest thing you get to a fenced-in park without it actually being fenced in. (Keep in mind that it is pretty large, and it isn't necessarily a park you'd be able to see your kid at all times if he/she ran or biked to the other end). That being said, my kids loved coming here to practice biking and I liked that it was contained. The climbing structures are great, and the rock structures enthralled my kids. There are water fountains too, but alas, no bathrooms. No matter, it's still an awesome park regardless.

We came here today during Fathers Day, and it seemed like all of the fathers were seated in the park benches while the kids were playing in the fountain. There is also a large playset section wmthat has several slides, plastic ladders, and hoops for kids to play in. Down on the far end, I even noticed an old school swing set with actual chains holding the swings up. There are porta potties, and the entire park is also connected to a large walk and bike path. I believe this path connects to both Patomac Yards and Crystal City. We stayed for a good two hours, and everyone had a lot of fun, even the old folks.

My son went down the slides so many times and laughed the same every time he rolled over at the end. There's a sandy area as well as swings (but no baby swings).
