Rocky Run park is a great spot for all age groups and is very spread out so it never seems too crowded. Located in North Arlington, parking is on the street and can be tricky to find. There are several different areas of the park including two playgrounds. The big kid area has a large ropes course and tunnel slide (which was barricaded off at this time. The little kid area has some digging areas, musical elements, but very simplistic features. There are a few songs too. Bathrooms are available between the two playgrounds. In the lower part of the park is a gigantic turf field. You can play soccer, hockey , or just sit out in the sun. There are two sets of basketball courts one of which has a volleyball net too. There are some tables around for seating and there is a great track around the turf for bike riding. We definitely plan to return again soon! read more

This was a pretty cool park! Minus the fact that there is no parking lot and parking on the street can be very limited on a Saturday afternoon. But they have one of the largest and coolest looking climbing structures I've seen at any parks around town. My five-year-old boy loves climbing and really enjoyed this one! I will note that the super long slide that is attached to the structure, is closed at the moment. I'm not sure if it closed along time ago due to Covid or if there were some other issues. There is also a smaller area for toddlers. It had a little bit to climb and some small slides as well as bucket swings. This park does not have any swings meant for older kids except for the large disc swings. read more

First of all on Google this playground is marked Temporarily Closed Should it be though¿? So my son and I came to this playground recently and by golly was this place kinda packed. Now my little dude is timid but he felt hella comfortable climbing on some parts and that surprised me. There where a few parts of the playground that had duct taped in sight of where something actually used to be and this sadden me. A few kids, as well as my own, tripped a little over a climbing rope laying on the ground which should have just been cut off not left there. Had to end up doing a diaper change and the bathroom we went into everything was mostly dirty except the toilet. I was able to change my son but it really needed a sprits of Febreze. Overall it felt mostly comfortable being there as I am a lonesome mixed mother of a mixed child as I am aware when we are out to be cautious but it felt welcoming to been in this area. Wasn't that far from the metro; Did look and there were street parking spots I didn't see if this place had actual parking. The basketball court and other areas looked huge as well. read more

I like Rocky Run Park. I think it's a great to exercise the athleticism of older kids, and to provide them a more of challenging obstacle course than your standard playground. The big kid playground primarily consists of a ropes course and the fort at the top with a big slide attached. they have a couple of swing that would accommodate multiple children, but again, not your standard slang. This is the swing where they would lay on it and other kids would push them. As far as the smaller children's playground for ages 5 and under, it has more simplistic features with baby swings and musical structures for them to play with, a sand box, and little cars with springs for them to rock back and worth on. The money definitely went more towards the bigger kids playground, then the little kids playground. Nonetheless, they'll have just as good of a time. There is a soccer turf field, basleyball court, and bathrooms on site too. Overall 4 stars. read more

What an amazing, modern children's park this is! Only in Arlington county... It's basically a big bungee park with a lot of modern fixtures and a rubber ground for added safety. They have a dedicated area for ages 2-5 and then ages 5-10, along with a sandpit, swings, basketball court and soccer field. Their centerpiece is like nothing I've ever seen before; bungee nets leading up to a very long, tall slide, like something you'd see in Jr. American Gladiators. Pretty impressive. The only downside is that there are no bathrooms! WHAT!? All of these modern, updated ideas and no one thought to add a bathroom? Basically once my daughter had to really pee we had to leave. I did notice there is some construction going on around a large fenced facility, potentially bathrooms in the works? We arrived on a Saturday evening around 5pm and didn't find parking to be as terrible as described, nor was it as packed as described. We easily found street parking less than 400 yards away and it is free on weekends. It was certainly busy but all the parents, and kids, for the most, were courteous and polite and up for taking turns. We're adding this to our weekend routine! read more

This is one of our favorites and here is why: - There is a massive climbing structure in the "older" kids section with a slide and several smaller rope climb areas at the base. - There is shade, and next to the toddler area there is a wooded walking area. - The toddler area has it's own jungle gym, swings, a sand box with running water (in the warmer months), and imaginary play area. - *** there is a BATHROOM*** and it's a modern, clean, un-frightening restroom. This is a huge deal for potty trained young children. - There is a artificial turf soccer/ball field below with basketball courts and other sports rec areas. - There is plenty of street parking right at the park. In summary, this is a great park for ALL ages. We are able to bring our friends here with kids ranging from toddler to 100, no one has to leave in a hurry to pee or end up peeing behind a bush like other parks. It's proximity to restaurants and stores also helps when you have hungry, tired children:) read more

My 2 year old daughter loves this park. It has a great area for small children as well as bigger children. The area for the older children is pretty intense ( aka younger children really can't play on it due to its difficulty). It does get pretty crowded in the park on the weekends but is not crowded at all during the weekdays. It also has a great turf soccer field that is usually open to just play on, fly kites, etc. highly recommend checking this place out. read more

This is a great little neighborhood park! It has a nice artificial grassy field for a variety of sports, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a small track that goes around these courts/fields, and best of all, and awesome climbing playground for children of a variety of ages. This park will be pretty busy on a nice day, and given that it has great lighting, a nice evening it will be full as well. During the spring, summer, and fall there will be numerous sports teams and even yoga classes that are held here. Overall, a great park! read more

What a great little park! Located right in Clarendon, this park has two separate sections marked by age range (1 - 4 and 5 - 12), has bathrooms, a water fountain, basketball courts, and more. There are trees surrounding the park so there are some shaded areas, and some great big net swings that my 3-year-old niece LOVED. It was clean and seemed well-maintained. There's also a covered pavilion in the center where you could unpack some lunch or corral a larger group. Street parking right at the park was not difficult to secure at all during the week, and the location makes it an easy walk from Clarendon Row. read more

This park was recently renovated and it is wonderful for bigger children. I personally have pre-toddler, so I see things most people with bigger children wouldn't see. So here it is:1) they don't have gates to separate the big kid area to smaller kid area. 2) they don't have fence at all which means if parents are not looking, they couldn't wander around and go into traffic. 3) even the smaller kid area is cemented which is dangerous for those who are just learning to walk or learned to walk. read more

Love this park!! It's uniquely built with turf and lots of different equipment for kids of all ages. It also has a turf soccer field which is pretty cool. Can get pretty busy later in the day but still fun even when crowded. read more

Found this place looking for somewhere to play ball. Instead I found a mob of kids. Looks like it would be great for kids, being that there's probably a hundred of them there at any time. (Maybe a small exaggeration but there are always tons of kids running around.) Otherwise, a nice area with a small soccer field and two basketball courts. One court has a third lower hoop for kids around the half court line. I don't think this is where people come to play pickup ball but somewhere you can get some practice in if you don't mind sharing it with an occasional interruption from little kids. It's a nice park, just not somewhere to really play basketball. read more

So heres the thing, this park is A-mazing, especially if you have a kiddo that LOVES to climb bookshelves, TV stands, doors, counters and all other objects that are unsafe for a kiddo. This is a very unique park in that sense, but I dont think its age appropriate to bring anyone younger than 3 here. I brought the 2 year old here that I nanny for and while she DoES climb everything at home, this playground is hard to "spot" a little toddler. Especially because the climbing does get narrow at the top. So, I cannot wait to bring her back in a few years, but until then we will go to another park! read more

This is a great park right in the center of Arlington! The large climbing structure is great for kids 5 and up but there are also swings, a sand park and smaller climbing apparatuses. There's a very nice basketball court, clean public restrooms with sinks (& soap!) and lots of benches. Plus there is a shaded area with three very large picnic tables. I take the kids I nanny for here for soccer practice as well as play on the playground. They have two playgrounds, the one closest to Barton Street is for younger children I would say 4 and under. They have a basketball court next to this playground as well as a place to sit down under a tent type thing. They have restrooms, a gravel type field, as well as a large playground on the other side of the field. This is a great place to go, very well taken care of and clean. We always have a great time when we go here. read more

If you have bigger kids who love to climb, this park looks awesome. There are giant "rope spiderweb" structures to climb in the big kid section. My two year old isn't quite there yet, so we spent our time in the little kids section. There were some baby swings, a small climbing structure, a sand box with a water feature, and a "car" to "drive" that she loved. There was also a big field where kids were playing soccer and running about, and my daughter had fun just running free there. There's a covered area with picnic tables and bathrooms. read more

This is a fantastic park! We went on a Monday morning and it was virtually empty (there were some daycamp kids there when we arrived) and I parked on the street right by the entrance. My kids only played in the playground area and didn't venture onto the soccer fields, etc. since we had no business there but it looks like there is a lot available in addition to the playground facilities! Love that there are restrooms and water fountains! The ground is also made out of that rubber type material that makes it springy and less painful for falls which is nice. It is great that they have the playground separated into a "big" kids area for 5-12 year olds and a "little" kids area for ages 1-4. My 3 year old enjoyed playing on both sides though- as it was really sunny the day we went the "little" kids side was pretty hot but she still had fun with the sand box area (love that there is a water spigot to rinse off!) and and my almost-1 year old enjoyed wandering around on the bridge and playing on the swings. The music station with the drums and xylophone was a hit too! The big kid area had a bit more shade so we hung out over there- everyone LOVED the net swings in particular! SO fun! I suppose if they were to install a fence or something around the little kids area it might be convenient so you don't have to keep quite so close an eye on your little ones, as there IS a street not far away, but that would just be gravy. Rocky run is an Arlington treasure. My 10 year old loves it, so does my 6 year old and they have a separate cool structure for the little ones too. Never seen anything like it in the area. A nice change from the "normal" playgrounds. Large, shaded in many places. The only challenge I would this parking although I've never had to park more than a block of two. It is a gem but won't stay hidden for long. read more

Amazing park with a diverse crowd with plenty of people being able to enjoy what the park has to offer. Parks such as these should be common throughout Arlington County and Fairfax County. Parks such as these should not be the exception - it should be mainstream because you're able to encourage fitness amongst all ages and promotes kids learning and interacting with kids of diverse backgrounds (I get this also has to do with the area). I'm there at least twice per week and have never had a 'bad' time. read more

Great park with ropes for kids. It is a different kind of playground. Being from Western Fairfax County, I don't care for the street parking (but hey, it's in Arlington so that's normal). It's a very unique place to take the kids. One concern is that the tallest rope fort appeals to my 5 year old, and it scares me when he climbs up so high. read more

You can spend hours at this park. In addition to the amazing play structure, kids can bring their bikes, scooters, trikes, & other sports equipment since the field is large enough. I have seen kids practicing soccer, lacrosse and tag and not run into each other. There is also a play area for toddlers and preschoolers. A + for Arlington Co. read more
