I sent my bow there for tying in the peep sight. Should have been a one day job. Turned into six days. And had no call back, email or communication on my bows status. I called a few times and was told it was not ready and I decided to pick it up and attempt to tie the peep sight myself. Before picking it up I called and spoken to Greg. Very good guy and friendly. He said there was not a full time bow mechanic. But should they not update their website to reflect this? Anyways, when I got there I got my Bow. And all be darned if the peep sight was not already fixed. I paid them $25 for the service. And Reggie did a great job. However, I wanted my cams looked over and inspected and that was still not done. Any bow shop I ever been to usually inspects the cams after working on a bow. Made no sense to my why this was not done same day my peep sight was finished. And having to deal with 3 or 4 people to retrieve my bow was a bit of a hassle. Anyways, What I am saying is that Nova fencing and archery is a great friendly place. But, they need to work on communication and update their website saying they currently don't have a full time bow mechanic. And work on contacting their customers. Like I said. I have to leave a critical or negative review. And wish I could leave 5 stars. But, sadly I cannot. I feel like the Bow department needs to work on internal and external communication. Great place for people and children to learn and take up fencing and archery from some of the best instructors in the NOVA area. But their archery shop needs improvement. No hard feelings.

You can join as an individual or as a team. (It is much cheaper to join as a team but easier to start out as an individual) The league director is Megan Shoup who is awesome and is usually out each weekend at the games just to hang out or at the bars to drink or play flip cup. PROs: All Sports are Co-ed, fun to play, seasons aren't too long, social and athletic leagues are offered, and the ref's are pretty cool! CONs: The sponsor bars are AWAYS extremely far away from the playing fields or courts & the sponsor bar specials aren't too good either. Happy Hour specials at closer bars are better than the AASL specials. - Also, team payments is required rather than individual payments when signing up as a team. Football vs Dodgeball: I have played in two seasons of flag football & two seasons of dogdeball - football is much more fun but dodgeball is not bad for the winter season. - The best part of the dodgeball season is the flipcup tourney at the end of the season. Overall: Megan Shoup has put together a Class A program on the fields & the courts but could use some help with the sponsor bars... The center is an older center but has all your basic needs. Locker rooms don't appear the cleanest but has showers. The shower water goes from warm to cold when more than 1 or 2 are using it. I am realizing how much I miss playing soccer in the District Sports leage now in this Covid era where sports are off the table for a bit! Pros: Cost: Only about $80 for a season- not too bad, and probably breaks down to about $10 a game or less. Locations: The fields are pretty conveniently located, not too far to get to. Team captains have a say in what fields are played on, as well as the schedules of the games, and they take into account where players on the teams live. General game conditions: The fields were in good condition. Games were held on both grass and turf fields, and referees for the games seemed competent and always showed up on time. Diversity: There are lots of folks of all different ages and skill levels in this league. The league is coed. The average age is probably 28ish, if I had to guess. There are definitely more men than women in this league. Social element: There is a social element to this league. After wins, many teams go out for drinks or food. Friendships are definitely built in this league. Cons: This con is more of a pro, in some ways. Because the league is coed, but male dominated, there's a rule that asks that at least three female players be on the field at all times, for each team playing. If there are not enough girls, a team has to forfeit the win, regardless of the score. Because of this, sometimes, as a girl, when teams playing games either before or after your scheduled game are short on female players, they will ask you to play for them in their games. If you want to get some extra play in, it is very easy to play for other teams who need female players to have to not forfeit games. You also will get a lot of playing time as a girl in general, because of the way league rules are structured, and because of the general shortage of girl players.

They offer indoor soccer, futsol, frisbee, 7 on 7 soccer, indoor kickball, and basketball. There's plenty to do year round with this league and the fees are very reasonable. If you can sign up with a team, or just walking a meet some new people. Everyone is incredibly friendly, great adult recreational league. And, yes, they do like to party too. Just fyi, if you're very a competitive soccer player, this isn't the league for you.

They have made everything very approachable and are always looking to make sure games are well run. And the refs always make the games fun and fair in accordance with FSS rules.
