Touted as the best place to get an affagato in Toronto, so we made a point of finding it as it's our craving of choice right now. It sounded delish in the website so I couldn't wait to get here. The service was good, and it's a nice spot for coffee, breakfast and working apparently as a lot of people were inside and outside. They also serve alcohol, so had sone nice drinks on their menu, along with the usual coffee shop items. The affagato was amazing! Wish it wasn't served in a plastic cup, but the ice cream and espresso were nice and rich, and they did a nice crushed almond topping. Yum, delish, hit the spot, nice caffeine hit! If you fund this place I'd recommend you get this and anything in the menu sounded really good!
Today, we ordered a hot mocha, a lightly iced matcha, and two salmon toasts. I was blown away by the citrusy flavor on the salmon, and thought the dill was just enough. I highly recommend this shop for a great ambiance. The music was great for studying and blended into the ongoing soft conversations. Next time I come back here, I would order my drinks with less sugar. Otherwise, chefs kiss!
Great grab and go spot! Overall: 4/5 - only giving it a 4 because of the price; otherwise a great spot to grab and go. It's a bit steep, similar to the rest of downtown Toronto. Food: 4.5/5 - they have a breakfast sandwich that has turned into my favourite breakfast sandwich in the GTA (although I haven't had many outside of Tim Hortons and McDonald's haha). Very tasty, with a spicy mayo and egg on a toasted sesame bun. I don't drink coffee though, so can't comment on that. Service: 5/5 - Fast, efficient, and very friendly staff! Lucky that this is right beside my work!
Versus Coffee is such a vibe. My Torontonian friend found this café for me (thanks Sai!) because I needed to do some work. There's plenty of outdoor seating on the patio (much more than their indoor section). I believe the inside café seats approximately 14-15 people at the time of my visit last week. Nearly everyone inside was working with a laptop. We were lucky to snag the corner spot even as we arrived at around 10:30 am ET. Wi-Fi is free for the first hour and a half. The website states if you need more time, you are asked to make a purchase. Having said that, you're going to want to buy something because everything on the menu from food, coffee/tea/smoothies to pastries looks and sounds absolutely delectable. Not on the menu, but request for latte art if you want some extra pizzazz in your coffee. Breakfast Sandwich ($6.25) - wasn't feeling very hungry, but as soon as I took a bite into this breakfast sandwich, I was suddenly ravenous. Contents include fried egg, tomatoes, spicy mayonnaise, dried parsley, and cheddar cheese between a perfectly toasted sesame bun. The sesame bun made this a sandwich to remember. Something so simple, yet scrumptiously satisfying. Bagel Salmon ($9.99) - slathering of cream cheese, fennel, capers, dried parsley, smoked salmon, cucumber, lemon juice, olive oil and sprinkle of pepper sandwiched inside a toasted sesame bagel. Had a bite of this, but immediately went back to devouring my brekkie samich. Avocado Toast ($9.99) - with an add-on of tomatoes ($0.50), avocado, goat cheese, spice seasoning, olive oil, lemon, and chili pepper flakes atop whole wheat sourdough bread. This looked truly appetizing and my friend confirmed it was good. Campfire ($5.25) - had never heard of this latte before, but a quick Google search led me to a coffee concoction garnished with marshmallows. I'm not particularly big on marshmallows, but unlike other coffee shops, Versus uses maple syrup (so Canadian!) in their latte and then topped with slightly torched mini marshmallows. This drink was absolutely delightful and oh, so smooth with its subtle caramel and nutty notes from the maple syrup. One would think it'd be super cloying from the maple syrup and marshmallows, but the ingredients actually added just the ideal amount of sweetness. Matcha Latte ($4.99) - was so ecstatic that my partner ordered his first latte ever! He meant to substitute with almond milk, but completely forgot. I enjoyed the latte, but he was hoping for more matcha in every sip. I had to explain to him that lattes are generally more milk forward. Will try to convince him to try matcha lattes in different cafes! Iced Latte ($5.25) - my friend enjoyed his double espresso shaken with oat milk. This coffee shop has superb lighting and whoever's playlist was on has great taste in music. I was able to concentrate and finish my work. Huge plus for access to outlets too! I appreciated the simply chic, yet calming and modern aesthetic of this place. One thing I did notice was the area leading up to the order counter is rather narrow and seeing firsthand how popular this place is, it can get quite crowded. There's a single washroom which requires a key to access. Versus Coffee has been around for seven years and I hope for its continued success in downtown Toronto. I would certainly come back just for the coffee and breakfast sandwich alone if I visit The 6 again. If you're looking for a place to work or just grab a bite/drink in downtown, look no further than Versus Coffee. Sunday morning tradition, a breakfast sandwich and iced coffee on the patio outside. The staff are excellent. The breakfast sandwich is not bland at all, it's got a bit of a spicy kick which I personally think is delicious. The iced coffee is amazing, this is my favourite coffee shop in Toronto. Expect to pay around $20 for a coffee and a sandwich.
Cute coffee shop! Went on a weekday afternoon with a coworker and got a colourful hazelnut latte. It was smooth, creamy and needed no other additions. They can do a few flavours like maple, hazelnut, etc. Just be sure to ask for colourful latte if you want it to look like mine. Fyi - it does stain your lips so ensure you check yourself. Lol. Space is a bit small with limited seating so I recommend going solo or in pairs max. I would definitely return and recommend, chill vibes and would also be nice in summer when their little patio is open.
Obviously came here for the colorful latte but accidentally ordered the wrong thing at first. Ha ha let me explain, I originally ordered a chai latte w/ almond milk and asked for the colorful design. My total was $12. I thought to myself, wow! That's one expensive drink but there was a long line and I had already tapped to pay. Something told me to go back to the register to ask and it turned out the barista thought I wanted both a chai latte and a colorful latte (2 drinks). They didn't make the drinks yet and were able to refund me for one. Oddly, I'm not a coffee drinker so when my latte came out I was a little weary I wouldn't like it but it was actually very good. In America anytime I drink an coffee I get an instant stomach ache but here I was just fine. The inside was full (a small space with a couple of tables) so I sat outside on the patio to enjoy my drink. They have free WiFi and the code is on a letter board right at the entrance. I used the bathroom before I left. You need to ask for the key to use it. It was clean. The colorful lattes are not on the menu but they do have them and I'd definitely recommend popping in and enjoying the art.
Badass. This place is totally the type of coffee shop you hope to find while traveling. I was visiting Toronto for the first time for work and one of my afternoons was spent working here. Thank goodness we found this place on Yelp because it was a gem. Patio, wifi, coffee, food, and even cocktails, what's not to love? When my group of three arrived the place was popping. Being that it was a beautiful day, the patio was full of folks catching up or working and there was a line almost out the door to order. It was no worries because by the time we ordered, tables opened up so we could plop down to get some work done. While we were in line we couldn't help but notice the colorful lattes coming out from behind the espresso machine. I got the oat milk and my coworkers ordered a matcha and another latte. All three came out looking so beautiful it was hard to take our first sip. After all the photos were taken (Yes, we're all 3 Yelp Elite and we can't help ourselves), we finally enjoyed our drinks. While the space inside is small, the vibes are great and the wifi did the trick for us. If you need a coffee and you're up for a splash of color, Versus Coffee is where it's at.
Cute coffee shop to work from! Versus coffee has an adorable patio and even cuter space indoors for you to work/ study from! Strong wifi for connection and has an amazing 90s pop playlist in the background that is just at the right noise level. You can find most people around you are also busy working away on their laptops while sipping on their cup of joe! Came here in the afternoon on a weekday and found a spot, table big enough for 1 or 2 laptops. Got a fun pick-me-up - their coloured matcha latte. What a way to brighten up your afternoon! Please note that their milk alternatives are only oat and almond, no soy! They also have lactose free milk for your drinks if needed - you just have to ask for it. Staff are super friendly. There is only one washroom that requires a key to access, so the wait to use this was quite long. Would highly recommend this spot, as it was nice, bright and quiet!
I loved this cute coffee shop! They had outdoor seating with plenty of umbrellas for shade and some cozy seating inside. My iced mocha latte was So good! I also went with 1 piece of salmon toast. I loved that they had the option to choose 1 or 2 pieces of toast depending on how hungry you are. It was fresh and delicious. The textures and flavors all went well together. Crunchy bread with savory salmon, salty capers, and cream cheese. If I lived in Toronto, this would be my go-to healthy coffee shop!
I love coming here when I'm at the office! Super fresh, delicious, and whole ingredients in their snack offerings. I recently had the smoked salmon toast and it was DELICIOUS. I love the cream cheese they use - it's thick and tasty. The co-kow peanut smoothie is also super yummy. Love this place

One of the most aesthetic coffee shops in downtown Toronto! I love their minimalistic decor, and modern decor, it makes the whole space both inside seating and outside patio so comfy and enjoyable to stay for a whole afternoon. **They are not yet open for dine-in, but open for take out** Their avocado toast is one of the best I've had in toronto cafes! The avocadoes were served on top of organic rye bread, sprinkled with goat cheese, olive oil and some chili flakes for flavour. The toast is simple yet so delicious when pairing it with a cup of hot matcha latte. I saw from Instagram that they specialize in their super pretty coloured latte art on their hot latte drinks (coffee & tea), but I forgot to ask them for it when I was ordering, so if you want the colour latte art make sure to let them know! A little bit on the pricey side for coffee, but in my opinion, it's worth it. It's quite small inside, but they use the room wisely and there are lots of places to sit. I came here mid-week in the afternoon and it was full. Fortunately, we were taking out coffees to go. A lot more people came in while we were waiting. I tried the Campfire Latte. It was amazing! Cute combination of flavours, and a lot more that I want to try in the future. Their food looks delicious as well. Fresh, homemade and fairly healthy. As I've walked by again, I see that they have a large patio. I can't wait to come here for lunch, or a coffee and some people watching. read more
Came here today for the first time. It's a really nice coffee shop with a beautiful patio. The seating area inside is a bit small but decor is nicely done and it was very comfortable. I got this really "pretty" matcha latte...and if you check out my photo you'll know what I mean. It was also very tasty. My friend got just a black coffee and she said it was good as well. Didn't get a chance to try the food so I'll definitely be back. read more

Versus Coffee, a cosy and small cafe on Adelaide Street E serves one of the most colourful and beautiful latte art that tastes as amazing as it looks!! I got myself an almond milk latte with green colouring because dI was feeling drained and needed those natural green vibes! This cuppa latte had a slightly nutty aroma and tasted really light, just as I expected from the almond milk base. (I think my heart broke a little having to sip into and destroy this masterpiece though) Their latte is quite pricy with the added colour and tax after, but it's well worth the couple of bucks and you'll be a smiles :) read more
On a downtown trip to Toronto we stopped by this small cafe that was highly recommend on trip advisor. Definitely when you get a latte ask for it in coffee art or otherwise they will put it a Togo cup automatically even when dining in. I was not told this at the beginning and when I asked for it to be remade I was given a lot of sass and attitude. So I ordered another drink and paid the price for two. The location and ambiance of this neighbourhood coffee shop get full scores from me - it's quaint, clean-looking (a mostly white interior), has free wifi (password: 70VERSUS), and ample outlets for those wishing to get a little work in. The cashier and barista were lovely as well. Where this place falls short me for was the taste of the drink itself. I got a flat white with oat milk, and something about it just tasted so strange (maybe it was the brand of oat milk used that I wasn't used used to - it has a weirdly chalky, and yet rich, flavour). I don't think I'd order the same drink again. The latte art on top was fine. With a ~10% tip, it came $5.53 after tax, which is pretty standard for the neighbourhood. Loved that they have multiple dairy-free milk alternatives! (In addition to oat milk, they also have almond and soy I believe) I would return, due to its close proximity to the Financial District. Love that it has a patio space - great for a coffee chat in the summer. read more
Loved this coffee shop. It has a really clean and modern feel to it, and if the weather's nice, you get to sit outside on the patio. There are plenty of indoor seats (especially if you need to work) and outdoor seats on the patio. We ordered a iced mocha and a coconut milk latte, and both were good. Both drinks were surprisingly on the sweeter side, but not too overbearingly sugary. We also had a almond croissant which was crunchy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside. The barista (maybe it was the owner?) was super friendly and nice, and was patient with us when we were indecisive of what to get. They have a restroom customers can use with a key, and the restroom was well maintained. I would definitely come back - especially on a relaxing, sunny morning! read more

I went on a lil coffee binge with family & stumbled upon this fine cafe. The first things you'll notice when walking is the extremely friendly & accommodating staff! (The seating is limited so they moved around the tables for us) The chocolate croissant had a nice flaky shell with a creamy & spongy interior - I would definitely recommend their pastry items. The coffee was exactly what you'd expect, a velvety layer of foam on top with the rest of it being a bold & milky flavour. I also tried their smoked salmon toast. It was a nice light meal. The egg was poached perfectly; it was bit runny but still had some yolk you can grab onto. Altogether, Versus coffee's menu was simple yet elegant! A perfect pairing all around! read more

Saw this place on Instagram for their rainbow coffee and beautiful coffee designs , was not disappointed :) When I first entered the staff greeted us, was super friendly , and explained the menu to us in detail. Ordered their "secret menu" matcha latte and campfire latte. The staff explained to us that their secret menu had vanilla, matcha ,maple, caramel, and a couple of other flavours. The staff told us that the colour would be random every time , we kind of hinted we wanted the rainbow one before. Their lattes were not to sweet with the option of getting it sweetened or not . You could taste the matcha and I would say it was comparable to mosmos or hestia. Prices were comparable too , similar to Starbucks or mosmos. Atmosphere was nice , small and cozy, there were multiple tables that could sit from 2-4 people. There were only a few tables ( about 8), would say it's good for small groups. Overall, would definitely come back! read more

The cafe was small and had a cozy atmosphere. We ordered the campfire latte and a matcha latte off their secret menu which came with a rainbow coffee art. The campfire latte was a delicious blend of espresso and maple syrup topped with marshmallows and finished with a torch. The matcha latte was creamy, rich and slightly sweet. The matcha wasn't overpowering. read more

I was drawn to this coffee shop for the colored latte art I saw in other Yelp reviews. It's a short walk from St. Michael's Basilica, so I ended up going after mass on Sunday. The barista + staff were some of the friendliest that I've encountered in Toronto- highly recommend this place! It's quiet, well lit, and peaceful inside. Also, outdoor patio seating is available. Good place to catch up with friends, have a business meeting, or study. They had a couple of healthy food items on the menu as well if you wanted a bite with your cup of Joe. P.S. Coffee scene in Toronto is pretty fierce and plentiful... So how do you make yourself stand out? Lots of people can do wonderful latte art and make it Insta pretty. There are some really good local roasters to get very good beans and make a great tasting cup. Most people can reno and paint their way to a cute spot. So what's the difference between a 4 and 5 star place? The owner and baristas. Anthony, owner of Versus, brought that forward and put Versus in one of my top spots in Toronto for me. Sitting pretty with a patio at the base of a new(er) build condo, Versus is a cute and modern small cafe that serves up espresso based drinks and also buddha bowls and simple breakfast fares. It's a calm atmosphere with its white washed walls and lots of bright sunlight flowing in. On a Sunday morning, lots of locals filled the tables with their drinks and laptops. It was nicely quiet even if every table was taken. Quick note ... for all those who want to get your Instagram pretty drinks. Just tell them ahead of time and for a few dimes, they can make your drink look like a rainbow. Also they have this crazy sounding one where they use maple syrup and roasted marshmallow for their campfire latte. Flat white - rich, smooth, and balanced. This was very nice and the darker notes made me appreciate it even more since a few recent places were quite light. I liked how there wasn't too much acidity but there was a touch bitterness that gave it a pleasant bite. It's definitely not your starter espresso drink but it's still very approachable. 5/5 Caramel Latte - I love the latte art on this one as I know almond milk doesn't froth as densely as cows milk. The taste to this was mildly sweet with a touch of caramel. It did balance with the lighter coffee note as it didn't overwhelm it. Perhaps I was expecting a bolder note for both the coffee or caramel. Either way, a nice drink to start the day. I think I'll grab the flat white next time. 4/5 As I mentioned, 5 stars are not common for me but I feel the passion from Anthony was really great. We had an amazing conversation about the coffee scene in Toronto. His personal take on how Toronto's taste buds are with coffee and how he specifically chosen his coffee beans to suit his clientele. I definitely want to return and perhaps try more great drinks. read more

A very cute, quaint place. Its aesthetic and the baristas are very friendly. If you tell them you're there for Instagram, they'll make your drink prettier :) Pro tip, anything on the counter or in the glass dome is available for purchase. I was corrected when asking whether the croissants were just on display. The food itself is decent. A lot of avocado, but fair for its price. The lattes are not very sweet or bitter. The atmosphere is quiet and work oriented, people definitely come to work in this place. I would recommend it if you're looking for a chic cafe to do some light work and drink some novelty lattes. read more

On my weekend trip to Toronto, my first order of business was to get some coffee (especially after my early-morning flight). Based on what I know about the coffee/cafe scene in Toronto, cafes and coffeeshops are working hard to distinguish themselves a quite saturated market, and finding a good coffeeshop isn't particularly difficult, but the unique differentiators are always a perk. The perks at Versus Coffee were the beautiful space, colorful drinks, and incredibly kind baristas. For someone who had to wake up at 4am to get to Versus Coffee in the first place, these perks basically made my day. The space is small (a bit cramped if you want to do work but not horrible if you're meeting a friend or just passing through), but the decor makes the shop feel bright and open. There is a lot of natural wood, white walls, greenery, and cute lights. It's a beautiful space to spend time in, no matter how long. When I first walked up to the counter, the barista asked me if I had found them through Instagram (I did, heh). They offer colourful latte art on their plain and matcha lattes, which looked quite cute! Between my friends and I, we had two lattes and a matcha latte. We also had a chocolate croissant, a bagel, and an avocado toast. Each of these pastries/dishes were good, and the avocado toast had a squeeze of lemon on top which gave it a fresh note. On our way out, I dropped a water glass on the floor and spilled a bunch of water while chipping the glass. I felt so bad! But the baristas were super nice and came out to help me clean up and make sure things were okay. It was a great start to my morning (and weekend!) in Canada. I would definitely come back for a drink, a bite to eat, and a nice Instagram photo. (Also, check out their velvet, blue algae, and turmeric lattes if you want a drink with a pop of colour!) read more
I'm so happy I discovered this cafe. The iced latte here is probably the best I've ever had. So rich and tasty. The cafe is also a great location for studying or working, its very bright and quiet, and best of all, there are tons of plugs and don't forget free WiFi! read more
The cortado was very smooth and nice, you could tell the beans were a good quality. I was a little confused as a sign says that brewed coffee is only until 3pm. The interior is very chic and you can tell they are going for a more minimalist modern vibe. There are minimal seating areas inside but a nice little patio outside as well! OH YEA! This is it. My favorite coffee shop. They have baked goods from the house (croissants, avocado toast, etc). I tried their mocha and well it definitely beats any of the mocha I've tried everywhere. What was surprising is that they offer a wider range of milk alternatives (skim, 1%, 2%, whole, coconut, almond, soy, and... LACTOSE FREE). A win for lactose intolerant peeps. It's a little on the pricey side. But I mean, the quality of products beats the ones that are sold at the Starbucks next door. The "for here" lattes are Instagram worthy. Go here if you want to study, chill, and listen to good RNB/Indie music. read more
I love Versus Coffee!! Relatively close to my office, I came here on a few occasions already and recommended a few friends to come too! What I love the most is their colour latte art which is a few cents extra (i think 50 cents?), but trust me, it is worth it! The lattes and flat whites I had were decent, but I would prefer a slightly stronger coffee taste. Beside that, this coffee spot gives you a nice cozy place to sit in and chat up with friends, great latte arts for an Instagram post and super friendly staff! A little hint, make sure you clean your lips and teeth thoroughly to ensure there are no residual colours on them. Apparently I had green teeth for 2 hours and I didn't know. read more

Love love the patio! Not many cafes have a patio and offer a decent cold brew! I especially love how it is served in a glass pint! Ritual orders are welcomed! Walk ups are given stamp cards some extra incentive. Although not the best coffee or menu on the block, it is definitely one of the better ambiance. There's a little nook as you walk up a little stairway to sit quietly and read--my oasis from the bustle of work on my break Wifi password is 70versus It's not a 'bougie' cafe at all--it may look like one but it definitely isn't, staff are really really nice, I do feel bad they're always in the heat (no air con) read more

I've visited this place a couple of times, and to me, it's pretty average. Located just diagonal to Terroni on Adelaide (east of Yonge St. and Adelaide St. E), and just a couple doors down from XO Bisous, I visited early on a weekday morning and found it semi-busy, but not so much that the lineup was intimidating. I ordered a regular coffee and found it just okay. It tasted pretty basic, and didn't stand out to me as a truly excellent brew. It didn't have over roasted notes (thankfully), but it also lacked a certain boldness that would have made it memorable. Overall, average coffee. However, what this place has going for it is its space. Very minimal, very clean and sleek. There are tables to do work, with big windows and natural light. It's a good spot to sit for a coffee date, do some reading or some work. I don't know if I'd go out of my way to come back here just specifically for another cup of coffee, but I'd consider coming in to enjoy the space if I'm in the area (although they do have some stiff competition with XO Bisous next door, which, personally, I prefer). read more

I have seen all the nice pictures of the colour latte art of this cafe and finally I have a chance to try. This place to around 10 min walk from my office. The environment is very relaxing but seats are limited and crowded. I came with my baby in a stroller and i had to stand to enjoy my latte for awhile before I was able to get a seat. The latte art was colourful and pretty but taste wise it was only okay. For $5+ I can get a better latte elsewhere. read more

Coffee place is trying to be more sophisticated than one of those places you'd bring laptop and work/study, but there is something lacking in the ambience. Maybe a bookshelf or a stack of news papers or magazines? It's pretty cramped inside and tables are narrow, so going by yourself without a laptop or a book, you end up wishing you had one of those. Suggestion: add a long table to make it feel more cozy (maybe people will have small talk); add books/magazines; play more relaxing music. read more
Modern and minimalist coffee shop to get your caffeine fix. Went for the first time on Sunday. Place was not as busy as expected and there was ample seating available. The space was bright and spacious. My boyfriend and I ordered an Americano and a decaf latte. Service was friendly as the employees brought our drinks to us. I noticed they also have toasts made to order (would love to try next time!). Great place to get a cup of coffee when you're around the area! read more
