Bs part they said I need to change but never mentioned it was bad first time they tried to fix flat

Wish I would have read the prior posts about thos place being scammers ,I cane here on Sunday 7/7 to repair a flat ,that didnt even put my bike on the proper rack to repair and didnt check to see why I got the flat ,I drove my bike home after for 7 blocks and the next day I had a flat again ,they never took out the piece of glass from tire ,I went back to the shop the following day expecting maybe a sorry but i was accused by the owner of driving the bike and getting another flat ,like come on what are the chances for 7 blocks he basically called me a liar to my face and they never apologized for not doing the proper repair in fiest place he tried to charge me 5.00 for a made up part that I didnt request or needed to be changed, I would highly recommend avoiding this place .

Unprofessional and no one wore a mask there. I went to install a star nut into a fork and I had to wait 30 minutes when one was in the shop. When i came back for the fork, the star nut was installed unstraightened where the top cap can not even screw in. The nut was so unstraight that it couldn't even be screwed in. Not only that, but the man who was there was really rude about it. The star nut couldn't even be straight out after this since it was so jammed in and crooked. Would not recommend this bike shop. He royally fucked me over. The starnut cannot be removed either where it is now stuck. Today my star nut was loose and when I tried to tighten it it completely came out and was all bent. This man did a horrible job and he always raves that he had served Bay Ridge for however many years but that doesnt mean anything since he could not install a simple star nut. Indeed this shop has been providing service 30 years but it doesnt mean it is good service. It is a shop that does not care about others ran with a man with a god complex who hates his job. If you ever think about visiting this shop, RUN. This isnt the first time someone has the same opinion about this shop and owner look at the reviews.

Scammers! Beware!! I've been in here twice and had a bad experience each time. There are better bike shops in Bay Ridge.

Writing a review for a road bike I purchased a few years ago from R&A -- like the reviews note, the…read moreservice is fairly gruff/rude -- however, they were the only store that had the road bike I wanted in stock so purchased. I was all set to purchase, but the mechanic (I believe Luis) had me get on the bike and said I needed to size down. He then did an impromptu fit to get everything dialed in. 3 years later, the bike rides like a dream and is a perfect fit and has brought me years of enjoyment.

Unfortunately, for one of his builds, I did use them to get some components that I couldn't source other places and around every corner they drop the ball. We were not notified that parts were on backorder, even though it said when I ordered that they were in stock and would ship within a few days. Another part they ordered the wrong size and along this process, they never let us know what was going on. I had to call to find out why I hadn't received something in a couple weeks and then again to figure out where his stem was. They never returned our calls, which meant I had to take extra time out of my day to call back numerous times. It is unfortunate that they are such a large distributor of Colnago bikes. There's no way I'm going to support this place again. They don't deserve my money and I'm upset about the thousands of dollars I've spent there thus far. It won't happen again.

It's rather sad that when I receive honest, fairly-priced, quality service, it surprises me because…read moreit has become so uncommon. I read numerous reviews praising this shop not only for their excellent service but also for their honorable business practices. Today, I had the pleasure of confirming that every one of those kind words were true in those reviews with the assistance of Sean. As a new rider with limited knowledge about my bike's needs, I made it clear to Sean that I didn't know bikes and told him to do whatever he thought was best. He could have taken advantage of my inexperience and charged me for unnecessary services, but instead, he walked me through exactly what my bike needed and what it didn't. He charged me a very very fair price to fix it right there on the spot. Thank you, Sean, and the team, for reminding me what great service feels like.

I've been going to this shop on and off for years and recently decided to give it another shot,…read morehoping things had improved. Unfortunately, the experience has been consistently disappointing. While a few staff members have been friendly, there's been a recurring pattern of dismissive and somewhat condescending behavior across multiple visits. Questions and concerns often felt brushed off, and explanations of services -- like what a "free tune-up" actually includes -- were vague or incomplete. There were also several instances where the work itself didn't inspire confidence. A computer mount was left spinning despite being told it was secure, and on another visit, a mechanic refused to use carbon paste on a mount, which didn't feel appropriate for the component involved. What's most concerning is that this wasn't a one-off experience -- it's been a pattern over time. When communication and attention to detail are lacking, it starts to impact both safety and trust, especially on longer rides. Update (Jan 2026): I later found out that a tubeless setup I paid for had barely any sealant in the tires, which explains why a flat wouldn't seal. Another shop had to fix it. At this point, I've decided to take my business elsewhere. I'd recommend double-checking any work before leaving.
