Brick and mortar Target vs Target online…read more The Soscol Ave Target: It had to happen sometime. You shop so often at so many different Target stores, that you start to discern subtle differences between the stores. This Target seems a tad larger than your average target store. It certainly has an astonishingly large clearance section with absolutely no stock. I've never seen a clearance section this shopped out. It was my first visit to the store so I decided I might be between stocking events and decided to forgive them. However, if this happens again, no such forgiveness will be forthcoming on a second visit. The shelves were so bare I couldn't even guess at the former contents. The rest of the store was reasonably stocked and nicely cleaned and organized. It was a bit sad. I literally came in just to buy one item. I had a gift card and had taken some pains to make sure I had what I needed to use it in the store. No such luck. I would say the target brick and mortar store operates almost independently of its online presence. It's like the two don't intersect very much. Using what's available on the web isn't great. But getting that to transfer to in-store use is a crapshoot. Being relatively new to shopping online at target, this lack of transference was new to me, but clearly the staff had plenty of experience with the problems between what's online and what's in store. Overall, the in-store experience was what I expected (it was fine). It was the inability to move between the online experience and the physical store that was new to me. Target, the brick and mortar store and target.com deserve to be rated completely separately. They are very different experiences. I'd say brick and mortar target is a finely tuned machine. target.com is astonishingly inept for an organization of its size and magnitude. It goes smoothly until it all crashes. There isn't even an error message when that happens. You have to try every different conceivable combination in order to find the correct order of operations that gets you to the finish line. When the website crashes during checkout it's hard to expect much. Overall, this review is for shopping in the store versus shopping entirely online and getting delivery. I can't even imagine what might happen if I try to order online and pick up. It sounds like this would be bad. We'll see what happens when I summon up the courage to try this experiment. The real Target - 4 stars with a possible 5th once they restock Target.com - there are times when that really is a purely imaginary experience. Like a nightmare or a dream. Just depends on what you click....

It's impossible to review every single department in this store without writing a book. I came here…read morespecifically to check out the wine selection and was sorely disappointed. There are convenience stores with a similar selection. They have a selection of liquor, locked up on the other side of the aisle. The Safeway on the other side of town has a far more extensive selection and puts this place to shame. The only advantage here, is that their prices are less than Safeway. So they get that extra star. They haven't made much of an investment on the grocery side either since there is no fresh meat or seafood counter, deli, or bakery. There's a very small produce department and all of the refrigerated/freezer aisles are very short. To make things even more inconvenient, you cannot buy alcohol at their self check out. Looks like I'll be making that trip to Safeway afterall.

When I got there all of the numbered spaces for pickup were taken so I parked a few stalls down. I waited a while and then overheard an employee talking to two different customers. They both had been given the wrong orders. Whatever was going on caused a huge backup. I do not think it was the employees fault because I heard them say that they had confirmed the order with the number the customers gave them. Slow forward to 37 minutes later. The employee came to me with a bag and asked if it was my order. It was not. He was so apologetic. He immediately went in and retrieved my correct order. In all, I waited about 45 minutes, which is very unusual. I will continue to use the shop online and drive up service as it's convenient and I don't want to go in store. I felt bad for the employees.

Community projects thrift is actually a very good thrift shop. It's well rounded. It has many…read morecategories of products, such as clothing for both men women and children. A selection of China that ranges from vintage/high-quality to more ordinary items with high kitchen value. I've certainly purchased my share of mixing bowls and measuring cups. The clothing is a little bit more hit and miss. I tend to show up when the entire store is 50% off and by the time you do that the store has been picked over. So my impression of the clothing area is worn with very unexciting brands. The book section isn't too bad. I'm a big fan of cookbooks and gardening books. There was actually a quite decent selection of both. But let's face it my home library of both has a better than decent selection. I always succumb to the fabrics. I can't resist something beautiful no matter how tiny the swatch. The stationary section is usually quite useful. I'm always running out of a little bit of this and that and this particular section always has a little bit of this and that. Usually, I run into at least one appliance where I think I might need it, but not right now, but the price is so compelling that I'm tempted to buy it just as a backup. However, space considerations put a quick stop to this type of thinking. The truth is, I always find a lot of stuff that is very compelling, but I'm unable to buy it because I have no place to store it. On the other hand, I've discovered that Napa has so many outstanding thrift stores that community projects thrift is slowly fading into the background. I'm a bit sorry about this because clearly I have a soft spot for this thrift. But realistically, it's a very well, run thrift, that fits a specific niche. It will take care of a good part of anyone's Thrifting strategy. But there are thrifts that are so outstanding, that community projects clearly cannot compete. If you want a thrift that is also well rounded, but with more selection ( not necessarily better.) consider Eco thrift in Vallejo. If you want a very large thrift that specializes in furniture, dining room, supplies for renovation, home building. You need to go to Habitat for humanity ReStore. It literally has no competition. If you want extremely high-end, unique, designer clothing, and absolutely superb home accessories you must go to American Cancer discovery shop in Napa. Yes it's kind of pricey for a thrift. On the other hand, the odds that you'll find items of this quality in any other thrift are low to none. Goodwill in Napa was an eye-opening experience for me. My previous experience with Goodwill was, lack of any quality products, surprisingly high prices for well, I thought of it as crap. This particular Goodwill is extremely well stocked with clothing, primarily for men and women. The quality of the clothing beats the eco thrift, Sutter, Solano, and community projects thrift. It sure beats hunting for that one item that is of acceptable quality, style, and fit, and reasonable price. There isn't enough space for the other items that you expected a thrift. Small selection of books, almost 0 selection of furniture, tiny selection of electronics, even the knickknacks were puny. I was surprised by the amount of luggage. Some of the pieces were actually kind of desirable except I have all the luggage I need. All in all I would not bother with this thrift except to hunt for some nice clothes. I love the Echo Shop in Saratoga. The major reason why I hardly ever buy clothing at any other thrift is because of the Echo Shop. My wardrobe is completely stuffed with clothing that I adore. Just fair warning, first I became a customer, then I became a donor, then I volunteered, and then they elected me to the board. So obviously, I am deeply invested in this store. And for those of you who are either on a super tight budget or just love, amazing bargains, go to the Sutter Solano thrift in Vallejo. It's pretty small so the selection is limited, but the prices are the lowest I have ever seen. Their regular prices are lower than the biggest discount I have ever encountered at any other thrift.

My wife found two flannel shirts that are of great quality and will be warm during our chilly weather. Pricing was fair, my guess is 50% off of retail.
