Had a problem with a purchase my wife made in December, two Christmas gifts for me, one item needing to be returned because of a misunderstanding regarding its cellular service contract. Today, all was resolved to my satisfaction, thanks to the hands on help of Manager Gabriel Elkhoury. This store is a BAIT And SWITCH TACTIC. They are not an actual Verizon store contrary to what the huge letters say on the front of the building. They are a second hand wireless store that buys Verizon Products to sell to the public and do not honor Verizon's Policies. (It's like Walmart changing there letters on the front of there store to call themselves Verizon just because they sell Verizon products). The employees are not Verizon employees even though they walk around wearing Verizon shirts, they are rude and disrespectful making comments like "I'll take the letters down for you tomorrow". Turns out that's not true, and I've spent nearly 6hrs with Verizon trying to sort this out. They charge extra activation fees at the store that are unrelated to Verizon, just extra pocket change for the owner/manager/salesman. I watched them take advantage of an elderly couple, and the salesman's told me "this company sucks, but hey you know what you're signing up for right?" I have purchased 6 phones from this store in the last 3 years. I also purchased the screen protector program for $40 and you get replacement screen protectors for $10. I went in today because I needed a new screen protector and the employee told me that the new store owner has decided not to honor this program anymore. I have had this program with all my phones since I moved here in 2015. What a bad example to set as a new business owner to punish your existing customers. I will never step foot in this store again. Went here a couple weeks ago. The woman put all sorts of add on so to my phone. Opened an unnecessary new line on my account AND put me on a plan that was not what I wanted! She totally messed up my Disney + account which there is still a tech support ticket out for because it's not working. Needless to say, I've been on the phone with the actual Verizon 4 separate times for over an hour each and things are still not straightened out from her blunder! Verizon Wireless of Newton Nj is the worst retailer and should not be open to represent Verizon wireless. The homely crew of employees that sit and don't lift their heads when a paying Customer walks into the store, are rude, have attitudes that you are bothering them. They do not know the products, and misinform you. I upgraded to a note 10 Samsung, and after the guy took over an hour and a half to do the transaction, I talked to him about getting screen protector, and case, he said they don't make screen protectors anymore, and we don't have cases for that phone. I cannot believe that the people who work there could see me sit for nearly an hour and not acknowledge me AT ALL! I was dealing with an older man who was trying to help me, he said it would take about a half hour and I could come back. When I returned, he was not there. The girls in the store totally ignored me. So I sat down and waited for him to return. When he didn't , I went up to the girls and asked about him, they said something about a meeting and then saw my phone where he left it. "Is this yours? we had no idea who it belonged to. I was the only person in the store! She figured it was finished and handed it to me then walked away. I wish I could give this a negative 5 stars. They are deplorable thieves. Verizon felt so terrible, they sent me a free iPhone 8 Plus and a free wireless charger. They lied about returns, lied about the insurance on the phone, and refused service when I had issues with a one day old Samsung note 8 that I paid for in full. They treated me like trash and the manager allowed an employee to raise her voice at me and tell me "too bad". I recorded the conversation while three staff bombarded me when I went back to the store per Verizon customer service instructions to exchange the phone (only way I could do it without being out of a phone for two weeks because I'd have to mail it to Verizon) and sent the recording to Verizon and they raised hell and almost closed down the store. Company needs to find employees who actually want to work in retail. Never acknowledged when walked in the door, waited over 45 minutes to be told they really only had three phones in stock ? Really ???? and that we would be better off going to the corporate store in Rockaway. I have had multiple bad experiences with this store. First, when you walk in, the employees NEVER acknowledge you. Even if they are with a customer, they could say, "hi, be with you soon." But they act like they don't see you. I stood there for 45 minutes one time and was never acknowledged and another customer walked in and they accommodated her while ignoring another customer and myself. I left went to another Verizon store and was in and out fully satisfied in 25 minutes. Today my son went to the Newton store to get a cover for my XR screen and they told him it was buy one get one, but he came home with a back and front cover , not 2 fronts and the front says it's for the X but is smaller than my screen. This place has driven me to write my first ever review. I learned from trying to return an accessory at a different store that they are not, in fact, Verizon. Even though it says Verizon Wireless on the store façade, they are what the other place described as a redistributor, and I would have to take my return to them. Once there, they tried to refuse the return of an accessory purchased two days ago and still in the box. On the purchase agreement (still have the copy) it states 14 days return on any device or eligible accessory. The second paragraph describes an eligible accessory, to which I met the conditions. I asked to speak to the manager, and was told he was on the phone with the boss. A second employee parroted the "we don't accept returns on accessories" and tapped a plastic protected copy of their policy adhered to a pole by the counter. It said the same exact thing, and I quoted it directly. After much standing around waiting, never seeing the "manager", I was told he would take it back this one time. When we you tell me you don't accept returns even though my receipt says you do, that is lying. You are LIARS! FYI, my post says I am in CA. Don't know why it says that, but I am in NJ. There is a Walmart just up the hill behind this Verizon [sic] store. Buy your accessories there. read more

The girls who work there are EXTREMELY rude and didn't seem to care to help nor greet me and when they finally did they practically pushed me out of the store. Matthew, a sales trainee, took the time to help me with both my account as well as teaching me how to clean up and better utilize my phone. Avoid avoid avoid!!! I cannot stress this enough. Salesperson lied directly to my face multiple times regarding the price of the phone. Then, I wait one month and get a huge bill. Do not trust. The WORST customer service. Told me the broken charger I tried to return was only good for a month or two. They do not honor Verizon returns and the employee stated they are NOT Verizon but a private company. Verizon should be ashamed that they allow this "private company" to do business under their name. I have been in the Newton store location several times and always dread going into that store. The staff are very nice individuals, however, they lack multitasking skills. The store only had two employees working each time I was there. The last two times I was there, I sat and waited over twenty minutes for someone to finally ask what brought me in (while they were with another customer) for them to ultimately say I needed to go to a corporate store. I also witnessed a consumer wanting to just buy a case for his phone and stood there for over ten minutes. He left and did not purchase the case. I understand that sometimes employees are tied to a customer for long periods of time. However, it would be best practice for the employee to simply ask what brings the customer in (in a timely manner) that way, if it was a simple and easy request, the employee could "multitask" while they spend an hour showing a new smart phone user how to turn the device on. read more

They only person that was helpful there was Mackenzie and everyone else was horrible. My husband recently upgraded his phone a couple of weeks ago. We asked the customer service representative about what new charges would be seen on our wireless phone bill. She said that the phone (an SE) was free and that the only fee was a $40 upgrade. I asked her three times about new charges that would appear on my bill and each time she said just the $40 upgrade fee. I found out a few days later that the line access fee jumped from $20 to $40!!. I immediately called corporate Verizon and they said that we should have been offered another plan which was much cheaper and that we were misled. The Verizon Corporate store in Succasunna was very helpful and after much hassle and running around between the Wireless Zone in Newton and the Verizon Corporate store, it was eventually straightened out. I was so frazzled. The moral of the story is to always go to a corporate store for all your wireless phone needs. The Wireless Zone is the WORST ever. read more
