There's still down time, but I expect that of all internet companies. Most of the time, fixing it is as simple as rebooting the router. What I have found is that living in a college town things expand so quickly that mediaCOM cannot keep up with the demand for customers. Therefore, they lose points in simply poor management of the company. The local office in my town is wonderful! Kathy, Frank, Derek and Scott. Have made any issue I have had extremely painless and they are always incredibly helpful. But, their phone support is simply pathetic. I have found contacting them through Facebook is more beneficial than trying to actually contact somebody by phone if you have issues that you cannot go down to the office and deal with. Sure they are not the most reliable Internet and TV provider in the world. But, out of 20 years I have never been willing to switch to a different provider because they are always willing to work with me.

For those of us living in rural areas of Missouri, with no access to fiber or coaxial cable service, Wave's wireless service is heaven sent. Wave would not sign us up for service unless it first determined through a "site survey" that the topology and distances would allow for sustainable service. We were told, because of the limitations of our location, we could expect at best 3Mbps service, which is what we subscribed for. . . that said, we regularly get 10Mps up and down. Only during brief periods of the heaviest rain do we get signal degradation. The service allowed us to work from home during the pandemic. Zoom and Team meetings work just fine. Streaming Netflix, Hulu, Amazon . . . perfect. The only extended downtime so far came after a bad storm with lightening damage on the radio tower to which we connect. Service was fully restored within 12 hours. Zach (the business owner) and his crew work seven days a week. (I know because I've reached Zach by phone on Sundays.) This is a locally owned business that has earned my loyalty and respect. BTW, we tried a well-known satellite business. The speeds were not great, and the latency was terrible. Streaming services buffered a lot.

I had a heart attack, and was not able to cancel until the last day of the cancellation period. I discovered that Socket wasn't answering the telephone that day. They charged my credit card for a full year's service. I contacted them, requested a refund. They kept promising a refund, but it never arrived. I'd go without Internet before I ever dealt with Socket again.

They always give you that week free when you upgrade to "try" and it's amazing but it slows down after that. If you can get anyone's else AT&T or COMO I suggest it. Once a big company gets out in the country, which will happen, they will be out of business guarantee.

DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT! The more customers they sign up…read morethe worse your internet gets. If the wind blows 5 MPH your internet goes out, if it rains your internet goes out, if leaves grow on a tree near you the internet goes out. Customer Service is 9 to 5 weekdays, which means when your internet goes out at 5:01pm on Friday you are DONE for the weekend (which is most weekends with this company). $35.00 a month? I guess you get what you pay for. In this case you pay $35 a month for internet that is far worse than dial up, that has an 80% down time, and that is a TOTAL and COMPLETE waste of your time and money. Companies such as EasyNet gained their claim to fame by providing "internet" to rural areas. The truth is that people get STUCK using EasyNet because there are very few alternatives. SAVE YOUR MONEY and invest in a different internet service. Cell Phone Internet is even better than this company! As is Dial Up, as in pretty much ANYTHING ELSE!
