Since it was our first birth, we knew we wanted a doula to help support us through the unknown. From the first meeting, Jasmin felt warm and always respected what we wanted our birth plan to be. She's knowledgeable and explained everything to us very patiently. We went with the full package that included 4 classes (last one is a visit), unlimited prenatal massage and of course the delivery. Classes were super helpful and we didn't take anything else outside of that besides some breastfeeding classes. The massages were God-sent!! I loved it so much, I ended up gifting massages to another pregnant friend. I had gotten massages from everyone and it was always wonderful. Due to scheduling, I stuck with Amanda's schedule and she did wonders to my aching body. I'm so grateful to have had this resource during my pregnancy!! My last passage was a pressure point one and I went into labor that night! Lastly, the labor and delivery was more chaotic than I thought and I ended up having to shift my birth plan. Jasmin was so wonderful to come visit us at home to help with induction exercises and talk through additional options. She took the time to adjust her schedule to ensure she was reachable and within a good distance from the hospital during my labor. Once we checked into the hospital, she came to check in and continue the induction exercises along with ensuring our nurses were aligned with our birth plan. When we actually started active labor, she was by my side tending to my pain the whole time. She checked in on us a few days after delivery and I loved just sitting down to talk about the experience. She also shared photos of our labor and delivery, which I'm grateful for since it's something you're not thinking about in the moment. Her workouts were not only fun but also incorporate many moves that can actually be used during labor. She was always in-tune to my needs and would adapt her routines--even mid-workout--to make sure I was safe and pain-free. I also loved that she emphasized important foundations (e.g. proper breathing technique, connecting breath to core and pelvic floor, safe ways to get in/out of bed, ways to avoid diastasis recti, etc). I continue to use those skills daily. Not only is Tal a mama herself, she has years of experience as a specialized prenatal/post-partum personal trainer. She even stays up-to-date with ACOG recommendations and takes refresher maternal health courses. As a physician, I was impressed with the depth of her knowledge. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience fell short of my expectations. She didn't seem very warm or welcoming, and the treatment room felt very cold and bare rather than relaxing, soothing, or inviting. I booked a prenatal massage, but it didn't feel like the setup was well prepared for a pregnant client. I was given two very soft pillows that didn't provide any real support. The massage table also wasn't stabilized on the bottom, so it slid when I was trying to get on it, which made me feel unsafe. The massage itself wasn't my preference. Several times it felt like she was about to work on an area with tension or a knot, but instead of addressing it, she moved on. It felt more like my skin was being moved back and forth than my muscles being worked on. Looking back, I wish I had ended the session much earlier instead of finishing it. Overall, I spent $195 on a massage that wasn't worth it for me. Unfortunately, I won't be returning, and I can't recommend this business based on my experience. UPDATE after response: let me be clear I did communicate during the massage she could do more pressure on my upper body, I didn't know I needed to tell a massage therapist to work on the knots when I said these were areas that needed to be worked on. Apparently I was trying to be kind and instead of reading my review she gave an answer that was to be fair rude and defensive.
