    Residents post complaints

If safety is a priority for your family and yourself PLEASE stay far away from this complex. I am a single mother with two little girls living on the bottom floor in the Verde apartments. When I first moved in Porsha the manager let me know she was there 5 days a week and was so kind and hands on. She moved out of the complex and I guess the safety of the complex no longer matters as she's no longer a resident. For days I've been hearing screaming and yelling right outside my window and as I had a new couple move in upstairs I figured it was them. Well today the screaming came with slamming and crashing and someone yelling "b****" and other threats. I was really uneasy but I know that I live alone and I'd hope someone would check on me if they suspected a domestic situation. I walked out and around to see if I could see what was going on. To my surprise it was not a neighbor, but a houseless man living inside of the utility closet about a yard and a half from my window. I took a video very fast of him throwing things then my kids turned the corner and I panicked and shiver them back. Well he heard us. And threw a huge rock at me. At this point my kids and myself are Hysterical I put them in my house locked all the doors and ran the long way to the office. They had made a big deal about added security and put up stickers and signs everywhere. Well when I arrived at the office a maintenance man who saw how upset I was let me know there's no actual on site security and Management actually is only in for a few hours on Friday. He saw how panicked I was and told me to call management which I did, what I think was an assistant answered and said management couldn't talk with me and they were in a meeting when I told him it was an emergency and someone assaulted me he passed the phone to Porsha, word for word I said "There is a man living out of a utility closet, there's no security here, he threw something at me and my children, I'm so f***ing upset I don't know what to do" the next words she said weren't to me but I could hear them she handed the phone to the assistant and said "she's too loud and cussing I'm not dealing with her just get her information and tell her we'll call her back later" I was in shock yes I was panicked and talking very fast and loud but in those circumstances I'm not sure who wouldn't be. Hearing my kids scream then cry, and hide, me being "so f***king upset" seemed like a reasonable response to me. I had to have my father drive over and pick us all up and check the utility closet himself which had now been vacated. My father a Black man did not feel comfortable calling the cops and Neither did I after all there was supposed to be onsite security. He took me to his home where I am now staying with my children. I went on MyEquity an app where neighbors communicate on a chat board and posted a warning for everyone along with the pictures. Well then I noticed that there are more than one complaints from residents about a person ON THEIR PATIOS which have to be climbed into, and that their tools were missing and were found in a utility closet. Dating back from JUNE, it's now late July. I'm putting up photos of these posts for you all to see. Single women PLEASE do not move here couples with children PLEASE do not move here, really anybody who doesn't want to deal with something like this, STAY AWAY because management will not help, there is no security, and there are constant fights and situations like this where management puts the burden on you to do their job and manage it. If you're not comfortable with cops or calling the cops, or just do not feel like having to call cops constantly (cause this kind of thing DOES happen constantly) do not move here. I've worked for homeless shelters, done crisis intervention, trained in crisis deescalation, and mixed martial arts and I still am constantly stressed about protecting my children in this complex. I've never been so brushed off by any kind of leadership as I have by management whose paycheck is made up of the rent is residents pay. I'm not sure if it was because I've made several complaints about the quality of the apartments (which has been poor since I moved in) or if Porsha just didn't have the time or empathy or care in the world to deal with a panicked resident, but I work with people every day and have never and would never respond to an assault the way she did. Do not rent here I can not stress this enough.

Be careful living here, high crime, homeless everywhere especially at night, these apartments are not what they seem, trust me!! Be aware of the apt manager (Pam) She'll act like a good friend untill you move in here then you'll see her true colors, even the maintenance man quit his job due to two faced people that are Thier, NO PARKING at all you'll have to park around the corner or even farther, alot of car theft, had my car broken into twice, told Pam she said nothing she can do about it to call my insurance company, the security drives around one time a night they say 2 but I don't believe it even if he or she does there in n out quickly,it's a joke, cockroaches yes I said cockroaches Thiers two different kinds here big ones and little one if you don't believe go Thier before you move in and look around by the edge of the grass you'll see for yourself, tons of them, the people that live here are really nice lots of friendly people to bad the manager has to be so nasty, two faced!! The garbage is always overflowing so where gloves you'll thank me later,Thier is dog poop all over the place I mean all over the place, when it rains and you live by the grass you'll get a nice oder of cat or dog urine, such a nice place.....NOT!! It looks ok but wait till you get in,you'll be sorry,be aware if you have children and living up stairs, the balcony toward the end of the boards are all water and dry rott your child might fall though and that no joke! If you look into equity apts there known to be super greedy I found an article on someone being evicted for owing 75 cents seems redicolous right, wrong you can look it up for yourself. If they had better management its still not worth what Thier asking, becareful and make sure you understand your lease because there going to try and get you for everything you have,I'm super happy we're I live now,I'm very thankful I got out of Thier, becareful because around the corner is what they call the crimezone, yup the crimezone,so you can tell your friends and family you live in the hood now, good luck, you've been warned!!

    Crooked door, how safe! (sarcasm)

Most of the apartments I found in San Jose are newer (which is fine!), but I wanted something with a more loft-y, artsy vibe to it. Twohy doesn't disappoint. The walls are super thick, too; I never heard my neighbors...only sounds from the street outside. Also, bonus: it's a small community, and management is very attentive and responsive. Everyone I ever met there was friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic. So much to walk to. Safeway's right there for groceries, plus tons of bars and food in all price ranges (from cheap mexican to expensive steakhouses) it's all right there! You also have a movie theater right next door and MUJI across the street, not to mention VTA literally right outside your front door. Amenity-wise, included in rent was a parking spot in the Safeway parking lot (not a guaranteed spot, but I never had to park on the street even during the busy Christmas season), a gym membership at the gym across the street, and water/sewage/garbage. There are no laundry hookups in-unit, but there is a laundry room in the basement which is nice. The units have a small but lovely kitchen with decent appliances and nice fixtures in the bathroom, wood floors (YAY), tall ceilings, and huge windows which means lots of light. It's not a huge space, but then again I didn't need much space, and preferred to live in a great area of town vs having a ton of room. Overall I adored living there. If my job hadn't taken me up to the north end of the bay, I wouldn't have left! I highly recommend Twohy to those looking for a unique space in downtown San Jose.

The building is pretty old and has nice charm. All the units are studios of various sizes and include a real kitchen (with fridge, sink, dishwasher, stove, oven microwave)... something not all studios offer. Not to mention AC which is great. Overall the places are nicely remodeled with hardwood, high ceilings and big windows. Only problem is the windows are single pained, letting in a LOT of noise, especially on the VTA side. Another drawback is the TV situation. They are not wired for cable (comcast or ATT), dish network is available but wasnt wired down passed the 4th floor... and direcTV is available but NOT in HD...good grief! The rent is not cheap, i think the cheapest (when I moved in) was around $1280 and I believe that was with some discounts for a 12 month lease. However, my rent came with a Bally's membership (right across the street) and parking at the 2nd/San Carlos garage... not bad. If it wasn't so expensive I'd give it 4 stars. Add some dual pained windows and Comcast or ATT cable lines (or direcTV HD lines) and it could be 5 stars. Overall its ok, location is great but there are some drawbacks.

Today, two of us were walking through chatting, and a Meadows property manager/worker yelled at us from across the parking lot, maybe 40 yards away, asking who we were. Thinking he had mental issues or a salesman, we kept walking. He then approached and harassed us, screaming about how we were trespassing, continuing verbal abuse and harassment and followed us until we left the property. We talked quietly, did not approach anyone, hang door tags, play music, or toss trash. We didn't go into the center apartment area. We're both computer professionals. This employee could have gotten on his golf cart and quietly told us sorry we cannot walk thru his parking lot and to kindly exit the premises. Instead, he chose to yell threateningly across a parking lot and come after us with verbal abuse. A good way to judge apartment management is how they treat visitors. Because as residents, you're going to get more of that - or worse. Stay away from this complex.

Meadows is very safe and it's also in a good location - it is right off of Central expressway and it's close to 237 and 101. Apartment was spacious as well. I also thought the gym was great and bigger than a lot of other apartment gyms so amenities as good here. There is a community pool as well. The management company was very responsive with service requests. We had an issue where the central AC was spewing out dead bugs so the maintenance team quickly came in and gave us a new AC. Meadows also hosts some events every couple months (coffee station, Easter egg hunt, food trucks, etc.) which made the apartment complex feel more like a community. One of the drawbacks about this complex is the lack of natural light in the some of the apartments. Because of all the tall redwood trees and the direction of our apartment, we didn't get much light. For the most part, we had our lamps turned on all the time. And because of the trees, leaves would fall into our balcony so we had to frequently clean that up. We decided to leave once the lease was up as we found a place with more natural light closer to our offices and meadows was going to increase the rent by $250 a month. If it wasn't for the light situation, probably would have continued to stay here. Overall I enjoyed living here, and if you are ok with less natural light or you are able to get an apartment facing the right direction, then I recommend!
