usually i do not leave reviews but i need to tell my story... I had went with my partner & got laughed at as if having a girlfriend was a joke. They took our clothes off for us which was not needed. Saw Alice for a 90 minute signature massage this week and it was fantastic! I had a tight knot in my shoulder that had been bothering me for weeks, which she quickly found and completely resolved (and found more tight muscles). Alice made sure I was comfortable with the pressure level throughout and lets you choose from a variety of essential oil scents for the massage. She's also super friendly and accommodating, which just helps you relax even further. It's quite nice inside and everything is brand new. The online scheduling through the website worked great too and prices were very fair for the high quality. I'll definitely be returning very soon! I may also try the scalp or foot massage next time too. I imagine her schedule will fill up quick, so I'd recommend booking ASAP if you're looking for quality professional massage in Kirkland. read more

As a long time customer of Alice at several of her other spa iterations (including the now shuttered Olympian Reflexology), I must say this is her most beautiful spa yet! The massage remains top notch and her innovation in Verdant Retreat Relaxed Pricing -- where the flat rate includes massage fees, tip, tax, and credit card processing fees -- is really delightful. Everything from beginning to to end was an experience for sure... the older lady with the glasses completely ignores any question price related. plus, when at register to pay, she asked us to tip and once we tipped, she proceeded to ask if that was all we were tipping and LAUGHED. honestly horrible customer service and very dishonest people. read more

Updating my review as promised since I went back to give this establishment one last try! The masseuse this time was much better than the previous one so kudos to her on that, but the older lady wearing glasses at the cashier was dishonest in 3 specific instances. 1) She outright asked how much I wanted to include as a tip because she had to key it in instead of offering patrons the option to select a percentage via an iPad. When I told her the amount, she added extra tips on top of what I specifically told her. She feigned ignorance when confronted and ended up having to redo the transaction. 2) She claimed that the loyalty stamps for the punch cards are not valid on the first massage, and that they only award it from the second massage onwards. This is not true. 3) The website claims that tips are already included in the price of the massage, but again this is not true as evidenced by her demanding extra tips on top of that. For that reason, much as I wanted to love this place, I will not be returning. read more

Similar experience to Adelie and MJ. Had a massage with a male practitioner that was so painful it left me feeling bruised for days. I had a large red mark on my back and after several days parts of my back are still sensitive to the touch. I have never had a massage where the therapist seemed to grind directly on the bone of the vertebrae, making a kind of crunching sound. I was worried about injury and should have intervened but the person did not speak English and communication was difficult. I can't believe this is good massage technique at all or at least it is some form of massage that I've never encountered and I've received body work for decades, including some intense forms, like Rolfing. read more

Deep tissue massage is indeed deep tissue!!! Thank you I had the 1 hour deep tissue table massage & have never experienced such a thorough & focused massage. My therapist paid extra attention to my trouble areas and clearly had extensive experience. I see some comments about use of sheets, towels, lotion, etc. All consistent with my experience but I viewed it all as extremely positive. The 'rough towels' are used to gently scrub the skin and remove the excess lotion. The skin is the largest organ of the body and activating the cells & blood flow is incredibly very therapeutic. honestly, I really don't want to do this to a small business that feels like they are trying really hard to make it in the community, but I want to make people aware of what could happen. I've been here twice. The first time I had Alice back in April for a full body massage and left feeling lighter than I had in a really long time. I was impressed with the cleanliness and service and value. I booked again for a 60 minute body massage a month later hoping for a similar experience. I got someone else, a male, to do my massage. First of all, someone walked in on me while disrobing, I was asked to lay between towels on the table instead of sheets, and they lined the face cradle with paper towels. I had probably 20 minutes of dry massage in between towels when I booked an oil massage. I understand massage sometimes has to be painful to be effective, but this person was just going brute force on my back and shoulders in a way I haven't had before in any massage. I was honestly worried I was going to get injured, and in fact my back does hurt in one spot it didn't prior to going in. I asked multiple times to stop doing certain things or go lighter but I don't think he understood what I was asking for. The first time I went, you got to choose your essential oil. This time, there was a bucket of Costco coconut oil (not joking, it was Kirkland signature) that they were clearly using for massages, just dipping their hands in. He used a very coarse towel to wipe the oil off of my back, so much so that the skin on my shoulders is red and irritated. I left early, and I couldn't get my technician to understand that I didn't want any more massage. Per my first experience, i would have recommended this to anyone. I'm glad I didn't, because this experience actually left me in tears on the massage table. read more

I called a for a 60-minute deep tissue and scalp massage, and enjoyed every minute; full dry/sheet, to oil, then hot rock. Great place, I booked a scalp massage. Alice gave me a full body massage, explained to me some of the techniques, and the Chinese herb medication for scalp. I came in with my wife on a whim to try out the couples massage and it was great. At the end of the 60 minutes, we felt very relaxed and our worst knots felt like they were targeted effectively. The couples area is near the window, so we did occasionally hear people outside, and early on we heard some nail clipping in the spa, so those were a little distracting. Generally it was a great experience and we'll go back. Far more affordable than other spas in the area. read more

I had the wonderful opportunity to check out Verdant Retreat. The moment you walk in I was impressed by the peaceful oasis vibe inside. I selected the scalp therapy and cranial massage. Alice, my massage therapist put me in the private room for my consultation which involved some cool tech that took a magnifying look at my scalp. We discovered that I have a sensitive scalp and she hand selected the shampoo, scalp treatment and conditioner. I then undressed from the waist up and was given a plush bath wrap to wear. You lay down on this special massage table that has a built in tub for your head. She placed a weighted blanket on me which instantly made me feel relaxed and I snuggled in for a body scrub massage of my neck, shoulders and upper chest. Then came the essentials oils, a blend of eucalyptus, sandalwood and tree tree. The scent was heavenly. I loved getting my hair washed and the cranial massage put me to sleep, SO good. The pricing structure reminds me of how spa treatments are done in Japan, no tipping, which I was pleasantly surprised to see. If you're looking for a uniquely relaxing experience, try this one out! read more
