All profit, no soul. I hate wineries like this--they forget that customers are human beings and seem to think treating people like cattle indicates how In Demand and Important they are. There is an undeniable corporate feel that makes the service seem insincere, but again, I'm not sure that it's unintentional. Example 1: I pay for a tasting (they corral you into a line for that) and mention to the guy collecting the money how crowded it was and got a dismissive, uninterested reply. The tasting guy was very nice, but really the only one to smile at me or show any personality. I find some wines that I like and buy 4 bottles plus one of the arty knickknack a they are selling. Is that enough? Apparently not--the lady at the counter said she had to charge me for the cardboard tote because the tote holds 6 bottles and I only bought 4. Really? I told her no so she packed my 4 bottles and art in brown paper sacks. Example 2: I head to the restaurant after said tasting for lunch. I had been looking forward to eating there so I could take in the view. It was 3:00 and the website said they close for lunch at 4:00. But apparently they were closing at 3:00 for a wedding. Ok, fine. Another example of money talking, but I get it. What I don't get is the relish with which the lady at the hostess booth turned me away. All she had to do was empathize a little with my disappointment. Instead of an "I'm sorry, I'm sure you must be hungry" and providing a recommendation nearby, I got an "I'm sorry" that clearly indicates the person isn't sorry and wants you to go to hell. She was on a power trip, and a perfect representation of their apparent marketing strategy--treat people like crap and they will pay you to stop treating them that way. read more

The food was very good. My wife and I split the cheese and charcuterie plate and both had the special of the night. Unfortunately our service was lacking and we spent 20-30 minutes waiting to order and receive desert after flagging down someone to take our order. The wait staff was busy with a ten person party which is completely understandable due to the amount of money they would make off the table but it was unfortunate that the end of our experience was severely lacking. The wait staff took a few items off the bill but for a meal that including tip was over $200, it could have been much better with very little additional effort required. I would not recommend this restaurant based on this experience and believe that during the peak season for the finger lakes it would be even worse. read more

While the views at the Veraison's Restaurant are quite stunning, the food and service left much to be desired. The diversity of the menu was certainly appreciated; however, there was absolutely nothing diverse about the flavors my party experienced. An entree was completely missed on our ticket, which took another 20 minutes to come out. The staff was apologetic, but they did not take the entree off the check, and they just left this member of our party with nothing while the rest of us "enjoy" our meals. The portions of the burgers were massive and inedible because they were falling apart, but the portions of everything else were minuscule and laughable. This area is absolutely breathtakingly beautiful, but please take my advice: save your money for the wine tours. I would have rather had Wendy's. Particularly a medium frosty twist. Giving two stars because one member of our party throughly enjoyed the tempeh. read more

Entree was excellent: Kobe steaks with mashed potatos. Cheese plate felt inadequate for $20. The major issue with this restaurant was that they had booked the main dinning room for a wedding (which is fine) so they sat us in the "wine cellar room" which feels like a Marriott breakfast room (zero character and it was downstairs which the waitresses were clearly unhappy about). Service was brutally slow, we saw a table walk out and a table that waited over an hour for cheese plate then get their meal thirty minutes later and it was cold. Again our meal was good or I would be much harsher on this review. My take away was that if you as a business decide to book your restaurant for a wedding then don't try to eek out a few more dollars by stuffing ppl in your corporate basement room that the waitresses were upset to be there. read more

A superb restaurant that serves outstanding food and wine in a refined but relaxed atmosphere with beautiful views of the lake. This was our second visit and we could not have been more pleased. We began with wine and cocktails from the well-chosen and not overwhelming list that featured many local and house-made wines. Ultimately we chose an Italian Nebbiolo - at a steep discount - from the "going, going, gone" list that was outstanding. Beginning with house salads, we continued to the vegan mushroom ricotta and braised chick peas. Both were superb and the staff and chef were extremely accommodating to our vegan diet. For dessert we had a vegan cheese plate and vegan blueberry cheesecake that were delicious. We plan to dine at this restaurant every time we visit Watkins Glen! read more

You must sit out on the balcony if you are there in the summer -- it overlooks Seneca Lake and is beautiful. It is so relaxing to look at the lake while sipping on a glass of wine. The food here is wonderful. We come up once a year for a girls weekend and the menu is different every time. The Chef always has something creative and new and everything is absolutely delicious. We have some gluten free people in our party and they were delighted that EVERYTHING on the dessert menu was GF. We were perfectly full, but when they say that there were GF desserts, we got three. We offered to split up multiple times and even explained that we were comfortable waiting longer for service and food if need be, with the response being a lack of appropriate staffing. I want to give this restaurant 5 stars because I LOVE the Glenora wine cellars tasting room and ambience of the whole vineyard! I wish I could give a 4.5 because everything about the visit to this restaurant was wonderful except the dessert. They served us an amouse bouche of pear, balsamic, and ginger crystals. Delicious. Then we ordered our entrees. The friends that chose the pappardelle with rabbit practically licked their plates. My husband got the filet, and he said it was cooked to order and tasty. My kids got the chicken fingers and fries and enjoyed the food. I got the chicken on spaghetti squash. It was a very interesting dish with many spice and fruit notes mixed in. It was cooked perfectly with a juicy breast and crispy skin. I am glad I ate it all, because the dessert was a fail. No one was really happy with what they chose. So my advice is to schedule a tasting and them go eat at this restaurant. But skip the dessert in favor of a hot cider, coffee, or Glenora port. Have fun! read more

I ate at the Veraisons restaurant while staying at the Glenora Inn about five times. Two of those meals were lunch, once was the wedding dinner (catered by the restaurant manager), one meal was the wedding brunch (also catered) and one meal was the restaurant breakfast. For lunch, the restaurant was perfectly fine; one lunch was a combination of salad and sandwich - the salad was an arugula salad with poached pear and that was fine, the sandwich was a bit dry over toasted. The second lunch was a crabcake salad - the crabcake was a bit fishy, but the sides it came with were acceptable. For the dinner we had, it was the wedding dinner, so it was catered. The salads and appetizers were nice, especially the scallops and risotto balls, but my main dish of salmon was a bit overdone and dry and was lacking in the vegetables and sides. The other choices were chicken, vegetarian and beef and the chicken and beef seemed to be OK. For breakfast, the catered option seemed best. It was fruit salad, scrambled eggs, French toast, sausage, bacon and potatoes on the side. This was a definite improvement over the Continental breakfast of oatmeal, granola, dry baked goods and over ripened fruit. I would not feel so upset about the regular breakfast expect that the strawberries I had on my first morning there definitely had mold spots on them and that definitely put me off of the restaurant. I recommend the restaurant at the hotel for lunch, but for dinner, maybe try the recommended other hotels/ restaurants in the Dundee/ Glenora/ Watkins Glen area. read more

My sister and I attended Easter brunch at Veraisons at 1:00. The Inn, restaurant and tables were beautifully decorated. We have eaten here numerous times for lunch and dinner and have always enjoyed ourselves. Unfortunately we were disappointed with the brunch. The salads were dressed in the kitchen which means after sitting for a bit they were saturated and soggy. The protein choices were great but the sides were disappointing. They were very starchy and heavy for a spring menu. The only vegetable was the green beans. Desserts were fair. The other surprising thing was being charged for non-alcoholic beverages: an iced tea and two coffees: $9.00. We do not choose buffets very often as a dining option but when we have the above is always included in the price. We will return for a meal but not a buffet. read more

We were here for dinner on a Fri night. Service was slow. We waited for a long time before someone introduced herself and took our orders. Then it was as if time froze at our table. We saw other people seated after us receive their dishes while we were left feeling like we were on a desert island. Was it because we didn't order an appetizer?! Left to our own devices to keep our toddler entertained, the food finally arrived ONE HOUR LATER. No apologies, nothing. The waitress even hinted it was because we asked for the lamb to be well done. Right... so it's my fault. Maybe the kitchen is manned by a group of chefs in the middle of a poker game. So to be fair the lamb was quite nice, the ravioli was ok. The cocktail was blah. They charge upmarket prices for poor service and so-so fare. This is my second bad experience here and I definitely won't be recommending this place to friends when they visit. For a better view and friendlier servers, visit Bully Hill instead. read more

When walking into an establishment on a beautiful property with such pretty views of Lake Seneca, and upon entering a restaurant which touts itself as "fine dining," one would expect that food and service would meet certain standards expected of "fine dining." Given such expectations, we were very disappointed. To start, my husband and I were not greeted by the hostess upon walking in. She was terribly unfriendly and seemed inconvenienced to find a table for us. We were seated downstairs in a small dining room since there was a wedding at the time. Fine. A small disappointment, but one we could gladly overlook if the food was good. We started with a cheese plate for 2 and a glass of wine each. The wine was acceptable, but not spectacular. The cheese plate featured a sharp cheddar, a goat, a bier meck, and a chive cheese spread. The cheeses were fine, but the grapes that accompanied the cheese seemed old - wrinkly and soft, overripe. There was 2 grapes that were obviously spoiled, missing parts of the peel, with white specks that looked suspiciously like mold. Gross. To their credit however, they gave us extra crackers when requested. We each had a salad. I had the grilled flatbread Caesar salad. My Caesar salad was tasteless, and the dressing was thick and gloppy, and completely lacked seasoning or any flavor that resembled Caesar dressing. The grilled flatbread was a flatbread cracker smeared with pesto and covered with melted cheese, but was completely cold and soggy. My husband had the spinach and artichoke salad, which was described as featuring fresh artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, fennel, feta, and a roasted red pepper sherry vinaigrette. The artichokes were actually poached in oil, which left them soggy and soaking with oil. Plus the artichoke hearts were not properly prepped, with layers of inedible leaves that had to be spit out. Certainly frowned upon in a fine dining restaurant. The salad itself was also soaked in oil, both from the artichokes and from the dressing, which had been added with a very heavy hand. All in all, the treatment of what may once have been fresh ingredients completely took the freshness and flavor out of the ingredients, rendering them lifeless, flavorless, and greasy. Needless to say, we were very disappointed by our meal. Service was poor and the food was beyond lacking. It's too bad considering how beautiful the property is. The taco salad with tofu was excellent, as was the carrot coconut soup and , if it is an appetizer or dessert the cheese plate is always a good choice. We had a 5:30pm reservation on 7/3/17 and we were seated on time. We were served water and then no one came to our table after 31 minutes of waiting. Nobody even cared when we got up and left. One of the completely oblivious waiters said "Thanks" to us on the way out. We've eaten here twice before and it was nice, but seems to have gone downhill. read more

Menu has an overwhelming Latin America tilt, reflecting the DR origin of the exec chef. Nothing wrong with that, except it's actually hard to find a dish that doesn't have some type of chili or Hispanic flavor-- fine if you like that, frustrating if you don't. Service was diner level. Wait staff forgot to bring us bread or the amuse-bouche. Mussels in a curry broth came without a bowl for the shells (I heaped them on the unused bread plates until the waitress saw my pile and brought a bowl) or a spoon for the broth (the scant 3 slices of toasted bread could only sop up a small fraction of the excellent broth). Used or dirty (broth splattered) utensils sat in front of me until I gently indicated that I wouldn't be needing them for dessert. (A small point but indicative of the lack of attention to detail: I had indicated upon making reservations that we were celebrating my wife's birthday, and asked for a small candle with her dessert to finish off the occasion. The reservations list had BIRTHDAY in CAPS after our name. But no mention from the hostess, no acknowledgement from the waitress, no candled dessert. Not a big deal, but a better restaurant handles these things with ease.) read more

This is by far the best winery experience in the Finger Lakes Region of NY. They not only make pretty good wine and run a superior motel/hotel, they have a 5 star restaurant. Veraisons has an eclectic menu that uses many foodstuffs from local farms. They serve up organic dishes and have a great vegan menu. (You need to request that one.) The Chef,Orlando, is a treasure and you will want to return often to this great venue on the west shore of Seneca Lake. read more

Hmmm. What happened. We got married here 3 years ago today. The incredible food was part of why we chose this venue. The food was beyond delicious at our wedding reception - it was literally remarkable. Friends and family told us it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. Each year since we have returned to Veraisons Restaurant on this day to celebrate our anniversary at Glenora / Veraisons and the past 2 years the food has been delectable! This year, we returned for our 3rd anniversary and for the first time, the food was seriously mediocre. We had the Kobe beef special and the pork chop - both were pretty flavorless. We were both bored by our own meals and switched plates midway, only to be bored by each others meals! The desserts were absolutely delectable and flavorful and very creative, but I am certain they have changed chefs recently because the chef that was in charge when we got married (if memory serves her name was Sarah) would never have made these bland entrees. After dinner we took our drinks down to the fire pit to sit out and watch the water at sunset. It was a chilly August night tonight and we looked forward to ending our night this way. Unfortunately the firepit was out of order, and looked like it was falling apart with holes, badly in need of repair. When we got married here 3 years ago this place was super high-end. We were thrilled that we were able to be seated on a Friday evening on the deck, even though we had just changed our reservation (from Saturday when we were informed there was a wedding to Friday). Thus we enjoyed a beautiful view with a good meal on the whole, but with some variability between our choices. The mussel appetizer with the curry broth was good to the last drop! The grilled corn soup though tasty was rather a strange color? The bulgogi lettuce cups were also delicious, but it was a shame there was so little beef and far too many lettuce leaves. We would recommend the charcuterie and local artisanal cheese boards, however. Everyone at the table wanted to try our fellow diner's lamb ragu over papadelle noodle-it tasted like our Italian grandmother had made it. The salmon and tuna special entrees were just average. The duck entree with cherry sauce however, melted in your mouth! Everyone enjoyed a spoonful of the lemon plate desserts. Although the servers were friendly, they were often absent and seemed a little inexperienced-we were without a spoon, a knife or a fork at various times and for some time. They also chose to reach across the diners to clear plates, even though there was plenty of space. Overall, the evening was a hit. read more

We were enticed to dinner with a beer/fish fry Friday promotion. I saw the menu and quickly decided otherwise while my husband stuck to the Fish Fry. We ordered a lamb stew to share and that was lovely - not heavy as I'd thought it might be. I ordered chicken w/cranberry jus with polenta and oyster mushroom sides. Mine was busy with taste. My husband was served a flight of beers with his fish and enjoyed the combination. The waitstaff even brought out a sampling of carrot bread pudding and that was a delightful surprise. The wine selection is great (situated at Glenora Winery in the heart of the Finger Lakes); the view overlooking Seneca Lake at sunset was just gorgeous and the staff were perfectly attentive. You didn't have to shout to your dining partner to be heard. There is a range of prices and options so it can be pub-like or fine-dining. You choose. Good luck with that! read more

We made a reservation for dinner on the Web via Yelp. When we arrived, we were told that "our wifi isn't working well" and so they hadn't transferred the Yelp reservation to their book. Bottom line was they had no room for our party of 4 for dinner that evening. Minimal apologies offered. Never really took responsibility for their screw-up. We drove 40 minutes out of our way, for nothing. They never offered to comp us drinks, let alone a future meal or anything else for our trouble. Talking to the manager was no better. A terrible way to run a restaurant and to treat their customers. We live in the Finger Lakes region but will not be going back here. read more

After they heated them up, the streak was pretty good, but the duck was barely edible and very tough. They did comp our two glasses of wine, which was appreciated.
