I went to Venus for a manicure and gel polish. It has been over 2 years since I had a manicure and gel on my nails. First time went well and my nails looked great. I was very pleased. Three weeks or so later I made an appointment for a color change. Even though I had an appointment the tech was very rushed as this tech was doing a pedicure at the same time. My nails looked ok, not as nice as the first time. Unfortunately, almost 2 weeks later I had 2 nails that were breaking at the cuticle bed. I was trying to save them but then happened to two more. I went back in to get the polish removed. Even though I made an appointment, I still had to wait. The tech's time was split between me and another client. The tech was even more rushed this time. It's been almost a month and my nails still look horrible. They're all breaking and splitting. They grow out a bit but they end up breaking/splitting again. The nails are also really rough and lined. I don't know if my nails are so brittle that 2 rounds of gel polish did them in or if the gel removed poorly or improperly. I don't know, but my nails usually don't split, break and crack. Based on what I've read and been told, there's a good chance it was not removed properly. I also don't think the tech really cared ... at all. The "service" I received was very impersonal, bordering on cold. It's also frustrating that even though you make an appointment you still have to wait. Isn't that why you make appointments so you get your own time? I may seek advice from another salon on what, if anything, I can do to help my ruined nails. Have been here many times and have always been happy with Amy and John. Today I took my granddaughters for an impromptu fun trip to the nail salon....my regular technicians were not available but Philip and Lanie did a very nice job on the girls nails....however I was very unhappy with my nails done by Emily. I requested a certain length, which she cut correctly....and then when she was done filing they were literally as long as my own nails were when I walked in. Barely any length at all. the nails were also uneven in many places. it's a hard pill to swallow to pay $65 for nails that you're not happy with. I can't take advantage of your policy to have them "fixed" within 5 days....they are to short so only thing to do is remove and start over....I don't want to put my nail beds through that again so soon. they are already sore. Horrible service! Took my daughter for gel nails and the nails looks like a 5 yr old painted them. The paint is all.over and even after she "fixed" it still looks horrible. My husband took my daughter as I had to work. I went in later to get a refund and the lady who did the nails was so rude and said she can refund $5 and if I need full refund she will take the nail polish off . Just a heads up. I had a gel manicure done and developed a fungus under one of my nails. I had to get an antibiotic from the doctor to treat it because it was so deep under the nail. I went to talk to the manager at Venus, and told him his products, at least at that station, were contaminated and should be thrown away. Finding the right nail tech is like finding the right hair stylist VERY hard. Well I found one at Venus!!!! Everyone is professional and polite. The salon is nicely decorated and has tons of nail colors to choose from. I have had my nails done a couple of times and will continue to go back. My mother and I went here today for our first time and had the absolute best experience we could ever ask for! We have gone to quite a few other salons in the past but none of them were as beautiful inside as this one. Not only that, but the employees were exceptional. Very good work ethic throughout the place; the employees had good communication with one another and helped each other so that the process could be as comfortable and optimal as possible. Immediately walking into the place is absolutely breathtaking. From the extravagant jade statues on the front counter to the chandeliers, wall fountains, elegant thrones, quartz wall tiles, marble flooring, and massage chairs, everything felt like royalty inside. My mother had Ben do her nails and I was fortunate enough to have Tai do mine. These men were absolutely amazing. This was a special mother's daughter's day before going away so we splurged on the holographic gel mani-pedi salon package. It was more than we were used to spending, but worth every single penny. You could tell that these men have a lot of experience working with nail art; if holographic nails aren't your thing, they also offer unique choices like chrome or ombre nails! It's impossible to get bored with all the options offered. My mother went with the holographic powder with the dark polish underneath whereas I opted for the holographic powder with the white polish underneath. The end result was two beautiful sets of nails. Hers is darker but has a truly stunning contrast. Mine is a lot lighter, and as my friend later commented, reminds her of a "unicorn." My mother added (which I agree to) that the lighter holographic nails would be BEAUTIFUL for weddings! The time these employees are willing to spend with you in order to ensure you are 100% satisfied is unlike anything I have ever seen. We had a chance to talk to both of the owners and they were so kind, you can really tell they have a passion for what they do! Really, really good customer service! We are both in awe over how beautiful our nails look and to be completely honest pictures don't even do them justice -- they look ten times better in person! We HIGHLY recommend this salon! I plan on returning when mine start growing out, and I'm definitely asking for Tai to do mine again next time. We went towards the end of the day on Sunday so they must have been exhausted, yet they were still all very diligent in their work and Tai had a lot of energy! Very lively, fun, classy place! Five stars EASILY! An added bonus: There is a Starbucks within very short walking distance to the salon! After sitting down I was staring out the glass doors at it and couldn't resist... I visited this nail salon twice-once for a pedicure and once for a manicure and tips. I was a walk-in both times. The salon has nice decor. i always get a deluxe pedicure as I enjoy the massage. The tech rushed through the pedicure and the massage was quick and without soothing pressure. My son wanted 4 acrylic nails for guitar playing i went back again. My sons acrylic nails looked horribl. Gobs of acrylic left under the nails, one nail had a chip in it, and he left looking like he needed fills. My manicure was again rushed. My hands were placed in cold water. An electric file was used on my thin nails and dry cuticles. My cuticles were cut and left bleeding. I walked out with sore fingers. Most importantl, implements were not sanitized. read more

Sometimes I would be satisfied but other times it would be terrible, I had gotten Trish and she had filed my nails all un even, polish was all over my hands, paint wasn't really on my nails it was horrible. I got a gift card from a friend and decided to give it another go around, so yesterday my nail tech this time was an older man and I had asked for coffin style nails, he repeatedly dug his nails aggressively into my nail beds before filing them into shape (they are still sore), i was hesitant when giving him my nails and was hard to relax my hand because of the pain so he tapped my hand (NOT gentle at all) multiple times with the file. The nails are all un even and not all the same shape, the acrylic was dripping off my nails and caused them to curl. Definitely won't be returning. And do not recommend. read more

This is a very nice nail salon that offers other services like hair, facials and waxing with hair dressers and estheticians renting "chairs/work stations" within the building. If you are a walk in it seemed only nails and brow/lip waxing was available. The space is clean and nicely decorated. I was a walk in and the checkin process was smooth and efficient through a tablet on the main counter. I had no wait time and got sat and started very quickly. My technician was Lynn. I told her that I had dip on currently, but didn't want to get it again because I hated how thick it felt on my nails. She listened and asked questions about what I did and didn't like about dip. After she daid she thinks she could address these concerns while giving me the strengthening benefit of dip. I decided to give it her try. I am SO happy that I did! Lynn did an amazing job. She was very attentive but moved proficeiently. She took all of my feedback about shape and thickness into consideration and I love the finished product. I booked another appointment with her before I left. I would recommend. This is a very nice and clean facility. I made an appointment for my first visit and they took me within 5 min of arriving. Everyone is friendly. They offer a discount if you pay cash. Ben did my fill and gel polish. The only thing I would say is that he tended to be a little rough and didn't do what I asked him. I asked to make square tips with round corners and he didn't want to. When a customer asks you to do something, provide a recommendation if you must but do what the customer wants. Don't keep disagreeing and not do it. He never asked me to wash my hands before or after polishing my nails. He wanted to put lotion on top of the dust and acrylic residue. No thanks. As a result I walked out with ashy looking hands. First, let me begin by saying that everyone I came in contact with today was friendly and professional. The facility is clean and there is a wide variety of colors to choose from. I decided to try Venus today for the first time. I scheduled an appointment online for 2pm for a regular pedicure and gel manicure. I arrived around 1:45-1:50 and signed in. They were very busy, so I was glad I scheduled an appointment. The sign in process is convenient and the girl at the desk was friendly and helpful. She instructed me to choose my color. I waited for about 10 minutes, and there were two other women waiting ahead of me. The front desk girl brought us back and seated us in our pedicure chairs. 10 more minutes passed and the girl returned to start our water. My pedicure did not begin until 2:30...same for the ladies next to me, and I overheard them saying that their appointment was for 1:40. So, making an appointment here is pretty pointless. I'm not sure of the man's name who did my nails, but he was very friendly. He apologized to me for the wait as soon as he sat down. Even with it being so busy, he took his time, which I always appreciate. The only thing that confused me was that he used cuticle oil on my legs. I am not a nail technician, so certainly not an expert in this field by any means, but I've never had cuticle oil anywhere but on my nails and cuticles. The same man did my gel manicure, where he also took his time and did a nice job as stated previously. The total for a gel manicure and regular pedicure was $65 (they give a discount from this price if you pay cash). I personally find this just a tad overpriced for the experience I had here today. There are plenty of other salons in the Bel Air/Forest Hill area that are not as expensive, but honor their appointments. Overall, this was not the worst salon experience by any means but definitely not the best. read more

We loved all of the girls so far. If you want someone gentle and doesnt cut cuticles or hurt with the drill, I highly recommend Cindy. Super classy clean environment. It felt that I was burden in their busy day because of all their appointments they had scheduled. On top of that, I didn't get the full manicure experience. My dip mani felt rushed since my technician had another appointment after me. At the end I asked if she could touch up the my nails because there was polish on the skin around. My daughter had a training at a nearby facility and I had an hour to kill and my dip powder needed to be redone, so I yelped nail salons nearby and there were about 4 but Venus had the best rating and reviews. I used their online reservation system to get an appointment and proceeded to the location. The place is gorgeous, for sure, it is decorated like a mini version of Caesar's palace in Las Vegas, with the ceiling clouds and and chandeliers. They had the dip powder samples in books, so it did look nice in the book, but I wasn't able to place the colored nail over one of my own to really see it well. My tech, Lynn, was nice and also was quick, it took 45 minutes from when I walked in to walking out and that included having my previous dip soaked off. Now, here is my primary issue, I paid $48 which is their standard fee for a dip manicure, I did not get more than any other salon, in fact, I believe I got less. The manicure itself looks ok, but not as good as I have had at other salons in Bel Air (for $40 not $48!) and there was lotion she put on the top and palm of my hand, but there was no massage with it. I think they are overpriced due to the location(a newer building and I am sure rent is high), I do not feel that it was overpriced based on quality of service or care. If the prices were more comparable, even $42 would have been better) I would have probably given 4 stars. read more
