Went in yesterday, obviously it was the weekend and really busy. Waited 35 mins with my feet in a few inches of cold water for a pedicure. After someone was finally available, they insisted I get the expensive package, which I get my toes done quite often so that was not necessary. I said no and that I wanted the basic and she kept trying to sell me the other packages. Insisted I go with gel too. Charged me an additional $5 to remove my nail polish. I asked her if she was going to remove the cuticles and she said I didn't need to, that there was none to remove. I said OK I'll do it when I get home. The color I wanted naturally was only available in gel so I chose a different one. She put so many thick layers on that they weren't even dry six hours later. She didn't paint the entire toenail either. The woman that did my nails did an OK job. Didn't file enough though and they weren't straight on the sides. Around my cuticles, the acrylic was too high and not shaped. 0/10 recommend. Absolutely will not go here again. read more

Last time visiting this nail spa. Service has been going downhill, but today was the end for me. My nail tech was actually watching TV on her cell phone while using electric nail tools on me. She continued to watch her shows, often just looking at her screen and not my nails. She stopped what she was doing to answer every text and shop alert. She also made 2 phone calls, on her cell, while doing my nails. I couldn't decide if I should say something or not.... For the first time ever, I left an establishment without leaving a tip. Just be sure to make an appointment and let them know if you're in a hurry...sometimes they're not ready for you and they wont get you in for some time after you arrive. This was my first time here and it was not a great experience. When first arriving I was not greeted by anyone and then someone finally yelled and asked what I was here for. I was then sat in a pedicure chair for 31 minutes before anyone acknowledged me or came to do my service. Once the service began, I asked for my toenails to be filed rather than clipped because they were close to the length I wanted. I advised the shape I wanted as well and got the complete opposite. My nails were clipped very short and are very uneven. When it came time to picking the service I wanted another woman came over trying to push an upsell on a higher priced service for me . After saying no multiple times, she said she would do it for only two dollars more. After the service was over, I went to pay and was advised the total was $55 dollars. After my card was ran and I was given the receipt. They said they made a mistake and the service was actually $60 and if I had cash to pay the remainder. This was an overall horrible experience. I left very unhappy and upset with the service I received. I do not recommend this place at all. They are very pushy and do not seem to take pride in their work. read more

The service industry is supposed to be about serving the customer and finding a way to meet their needs and serve them. When one expresses that you want a simple pedicure, where your feet are soaked and your nails are trimmed, only, and you are looked at like you do not know what you are talking about....so you again explain that your feet are sensitive, that you do not wish to have your cuticles cut only your feet soaked and nails trimmed, and the response is "No", no foot soak, that is only needed to cut cuticles. And you are told that soaking will NOT soften the nails..... and are argued with........ there is not much left to do but for my husband to walk out the door. Of course soaking does soften the nails...... No one in the place stepped forward to correct or offer to give the simple pedicure. They looked ashamed and put their heads down. First time visit to Venus Nails in Ramona I paid for a gel manicure (and regular pedicure) two weeks ago. One week ago the polish of one fingernail chipped, and the day I returned from my two-week trip, the polish of one thumbnail chipped. Returned yesterday to ask for the chips to be filled in, considering the gel manicure lasted only one week. I heard "Can I help you?" I asked, "Is Emily here?" She was the one who did my manicure. I didn't immediately realize it, but I was talking to Emily. Even though I was talking to her, she apparently didn't want me to know it or maybe she just wanted to make it difficult on me because she suspected a problem. I needed to ask, "Where is she?" I looked around the room. She didn't answer. I asked, "Are you Emily?" She then said yes. After explaining the timeline and what I was requesting, I received a long, unintelligible response, but I was able to make out two things she said: 1) "You need to get them filled" as she pointed towards the bottom of my nails, which, yes, had grown in two weeks. I said, "I'm not ready for that. I would just like to have the chips filled." She repeated herself. I repeated myself. (And why would I want to do any filling from growth if the tips are chipping?) 2) "I didn't see you last." I told her she saw me last and first, because that was my first time there. She repeated herself and I repeated myself. Then I asked, "Don't you remember me?" She said "yes." She called across the room to a colleague and they went back and forth in Vietnamese, so I wasn't able to understand what they were saying. Then the person she called to told me to find the color and sit down and she would be with me when she was done. Emily was with a customer and the first thing I said to both was "I'm sorry for interrupting." I sat for 20 minutes with a bottle I had picked off the shelf and the book with the sample colors. Then I left the shop. I had to leave. Emily even finished with her customer while I was still sitting there, but I felt like she was ignoring me. Also, her demeanor was significantly different from when I met her two weeks ago. She was very friendly at that time and especially after I tipped her. I paid in cash and tipped in cash. But today she was cold, disinterested, and defensive. In addition, the continuous up-selling she put me through while doing my nails was stressful and annoying. When I went for the mani-pedi, which was the day before my trip, I was already stressed out from preparations. So, except for one upgrade, I wasn't able to say no. I thought I could relax here, but, needless to say, that didn't happen. In conclusion, the gel manicure lasted only one week, and the service I received afterwards was not only unprofessional, but also incredibly rude and arrogant. I don't believe they are interested in repeat business. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this establishment. I'm giving one star because I won't be back. Do YOURSELF a favor and look elsewhere. read more

I don't understand why I come back I think it's just convince? 2 stars bc there's a couple ladies here that are really nice but the rest haggle for you to spend so much money and when you say no they judge so hard. I am hardly ever satisfied with the nails I'm given and this time I am seriously over it. There is lint inside my polish the design I asked for is nothing like the nails I got. Service was fine but the pedicure itself was not great. Within a few days, it already looked like I could use another pedicure because the polish wasn't all the way down to the base of the nail. I've been here a handful of times and every time I leave I ask myself why I came back. Typically I visit this nail salon when i don't want to drive down the hill. This last time was the final straw for me. I went in with an hour to spare before another appointment and asked if they could get done with a fill in that time span and asked multiple times to make sure they could finish and they reassured me they could. I sat and waited for about 15 mins and when it finally came down to do my nails they were rushed, I had acrylic hanging off the sides. Probably the worst set I've ever had done. Love it so much went back for a second time with another friend!! **Just a reminder if you don't go down to Mission Beach much ... Last time I went on a Friday. We decided on last minute pedicures for my mothers in law's birthday Sunday July 9th an having recently moved to Ramona I naturally looked at reviews before choosing a salon, Venus had rather good ones, our wait was a little long but we were walks ins so expected how ever my pedicure felt rushed, like every step was half done. My tech seemed distracted even pausing and looking off in between steps even completely walking away and skipping that last part of my service, the hot towel, because she had a lash service to do When I asked her to trim my big toe nail the corner was bothering me and she cut all the way down to the cuticle pushing the tool in to my toe I had to ask her to stop this morning I woke up to a painfull swollen toe with pus in it!!! So it has been many many years since I have gotten a manicure. Decided to treat myself. I have been blessed with real, long, healthy nails (thank you mom). Looked on the website for Venus nails and spa. Chose a botanical manicure for $34. Made my appointment. Went in told them I had an appointment for a manicure. They asked if it was regular manicure. I told them it was botanical. They looked at me strangely. I told them the best one they had. Then I said the $34 One. Then they said no it's $45. I said no, and I asked to look at their book. Well in the book is the one I chose and the woman looked perplexed asking the woman next to her. They don't offer that one. They try to give me the $45 one. I only had enough cash as I had planned to get the $34 one with tip. Then they point to a $22 Manicure. I see another one after it for a little more and I say I want that one and no they don't offer that one. They tell me they will buff them. I said, "yes that's normally what you do with a manicure is buff them" and she said, "no we'll buff them and make them really shiny." I said I want clear nail polish. They said, "no we buff it so it looks like clear nail polish." At this point I just said whatever. Then she tells me it's $27 because the buffing is an extra five dollars. At this point again, I say whatever just do whatever. She asked if I want my nails cut. I say, "no just file." Then she pulls out the clippers and I say, "no cutting just file." I don't think they're used to doing real nails. Their specialty is acrylics And gel. I will say the buffing does make it look like you have clear nail polish. I get a sea salt scrub mixed with lotion. But that's it. When I used to get manicures, I would get a lotion massage. This is lotion mixed with sea salt and then they wipe it off with a hot towel. I know it has been a while since I have gotten a manicure, but if this is what they do these days, I will not get another one. Then I go to pay her and I give her $30 waiting for some change because I had another $5 and I was gonna give her a $6 tip for a $27 manicure. She just stood there looking at me so then I gave her the other five and she says thank you lol. I gave her an $8 tip for a $27 manicure. While I was in there, a mom came in with her daughter for prom and she had said she had an appointment and had made it yesterday and didn't get the woman she requested because she was not there. She commented what's the point of making an appointment if you don't get the person you request? Then she was worried it would be rushed because they were very busy and she wanted it special for her daughter. I agree what's the point of making an appointment cause I don't even think they look at it, because I didn't even get a call to say we don't offer that manicure. Decided to give this place a try. I made an appointment and when I got there, still had to wait 40-45 minutes with my feet soaking before someone actually started on me. Some of my toe nails smudged by the next day and all I've been wearing all summer are sandals and not close toed shoes. They looked awful. I only give it 1 star because I can't give less. The owner refused me service. She said my service dog could not come in. I explained federal regulations very calmly and that he is my service dog so he cannot be denied access. She was looking to other customers to tell her if she had to help me. As a business owner you have an obligation to the public to know the law. I'm hurt and embarrassed. Leaving in tears. My fiancé and I are in town for a wedding and of course I didn't have time to get a pedicure before coming. I did a quick google search and found Venus Nails not too far from our hotel. I showed up without and appointment, the salon was full but they were still able to accommodate me. There was a short wait but that was expected since I didn't have an appointment. Emily helped out and she was a breath of fresh air! She was so kind and professional. I get my nails done religiously but not my toes and it had been AWHILE since I last got a pedi. Let me tell you, Emily made my feet look and feel brand new. Long lasting nails, sanitary, and affordable, especially with inflation hitting these days the other salons are jacking up the prices. The nails came out exactly how I wanted it too, even though it was a tough one! The nail salon looks brand new, everything was bright and beautiful, the techs are nice and hilarious. I love that they offer free drinks, I got a mimosa. They made my kiddo laugh more than her own dad and gave her a fruit punch bag. She likes her nails too.
