I'm extremely picky about my nails. I moved to Fort Collins from NYC and I struggled for a while to find a place here that would do exactly what I wanted. The truth is, it all comes down to the people. I lucked out when I stumbled on Venus Nails, because there are several talented nail technicians who deliver the best results. Specifically, I get my acrylics with gel polish here. I'm demanding about the thickness of the acrylic and shape of my nails; I want them to look as natural as acrylics can look. And Venus Nails comes through; I have never received so many compliments or comments on my nails. People think they are real! Classy. For reference, my rebase with gel goes about $40-45 ($40 might just be a special they occasionally run). I go every three weeks; no chips, no problems to "fix." Just maintenance. Every technician here has always gone above and beyond to make me happy. I actually think they might enjoy how picky I am! They are friendly enough to make me think so, at least. I paid $35 for a shellac manicure. I am at one week and the sides are already peeling up and I had to peel one completely off because it was catching on everything. Also, no special lotion, massage, hot towel or other services for this price. There are many other places in town who go above and beyond for the same price and the shellac lasts much longer! First time going there had Amanda and she was amazing. Second time was complete opposite with my experience. I have never felt more rushed in what should be a relaxing experience and time. The pedicure was the fastest one I've ever had and never actually did any work on my toenails minus take off old polish and paint on new polish. The owner Tim did my manicure and he was rude and glared at me multiple times. First I was trying to pick out my dip colors and he acted like he was in a hurry. Once I had them picked out he continued to act rushed and kept glaring at me because I wasn't completely ready and was trying to take off my watch and get more comfortable in the seat. He never actually did a true manicure of cleaning up dead skin around nails or anything. Just rushed through the dip process and had me pay and he quickly left after I scanned the card. He never said thank you for coming into his business or anything. He also kept complaining because my nails were short. I have to keep them that way being a nurse. Also their dip sample colors did not match at all with the numbers. I was going to say something but was afraid to by how he was already acting. They weren't even very busy and had plenty of staff to help everyone. Not sure why my two people were acting in such a rush. I've never been in such an unwelcoming environment. I've been avoiding writing a review because I didn't want it to get any harder to get in and get taken care of. I started going to Aiden when he was in Windsor. He's the best in Colorado. I found him when I discovered he bought his own salon. Him and his wife and the entire staff are the best. They care for their clients, they work really hard and they always have the up to date polishes and options. They are incredibly talented and it's always a pleasure to come into their shop. I have sent several friends to the salon and they are lifetime believers. I'm not from here and I've probably in two years been to over 35 salons. This salon BY FAR is the best in Northern Colorado! I am a very positive person in the light and always willing to give people a try. I went into this place getting gel w/tips which was a new step for me since I always did dip powders. I sat down and it felt very laid back which was nice but didn't have a warm feeling as much. My friend got a nail dip on natural nail which she absolutely loved! I am usually quiet and like to watch people doing my nails so the quietness didn't bother me. She did find a complementing color to go with my red which became my favorite! After my friend and I paid ($55 for mine) and walked outside in the car, I noticed I had uneven pinkies and middle finger nails. Then my thumbs stuck out with a flat edge which was suppose to be round and they were slanted to the side when she filed them. They look more almond shaped than rounded but I trusted the lady and went for it. Unfortunately my thumb is now hurting more and more now and two fingers on my left hand have little picks in them from when she put on the gel when you look at them in the light. I really wanted to have a good experience but she was a little rough with my cuticles and rushed since it was a 4pm appointment. She did give me a hand massage with lotion which made me feel wonderful at the end. Just wish the nails could match a little more and have a nicer display since I wanted to take pictures for my engagement pictures. read more

Okay I was just charged $30 for the WORST shellac manicure. The gal doing my nails literally cut everyone of nails bed too narrow and too short and was bleeding. When I pulled my hand out to tell her she was hurting me, she just put something called, "kds styptic liquid" on every nail bed. My nails are literally in so much pain. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I really wanted to like this place. Super clean, spacious, they're making a serious effort. My pedicure and manicure both lasted an epic amount of time, although the manicure was not as neat in polish as I would have liked. Thats not why I won't go back, but here is why: My technician, as well as one or two more employees walking around, looked and seemed overworked/overtired/undernourished to the point where I couldn't help but feel horrible about being there at all, and especially terrible about having them remove callouses from my feet. Not relaxing. It was an eerie, icky energy pervading the whole space due to this. I know nail salon work must be hard and tiring, but the woman who seemed to be managing seemed impeccably groomed and well rested while everyone else gave out weird vibes. Not good. I'm very unhappy with my pedi, mani I got this past Monday. I believe that the young man that worked on me was not properly trained or that he understood what I was telling him. My nails were done in the mani chair & not even soaked, I told him that my cuticles needed special care because they were really bad and it looks like they were not hardly touched. Got a set of dip nails done. Had one chip half off 12 hours later. Went back the next day and they were very nice about it and fixed the nail for free. However......... by day 5, nearly every single nail was chipped off. Ended up just taking the remaining pieces off on my own. So let me start this out by saying I don't go out of my way to write a review unless my experience is excellent or beyond subpar. I'm rolling two reviews into one for this because I've been here twice in the last month. On July 9th I went to Venus Nails and had a full set done. The cost was $60. Fast forward to July 23rd. My two week grow out looked like 3-4 week grow out, and 2 nails had snapped clean off where the tip is applied. I thought to myself that's strange. I always get long nails and this never happens. I attributed it to the fact that the day I came in 3 people had quit at once. That should've set off alarm bells right away but anyways; the reason I attributed it to this is because when they did my nails they never pushed my cuticles back. I'm talking about the owners here who did this (all their employees had quit so it had to be the owners). The husband did do an incredible job on shaping for me though. So after all this most people wouldn't go back to the same salon and honestly I wish I hadn't. That's the whole reason I'm writing this review. I came back to the salon because it's a very convenient location for me, I wanted it to work and I believe "crap happens" so to speak. So now it's July 24th and I've come in for a fill and to fix the 2 broken nails. The cost came out to $45 and I tipped $5 cash. Before entering the salon I pushed all my cuticles back and it's a good thing I did because they didn't. The 2 nails that were completely redone look so horrible but all the fill nails look fine. The two nails she redid look bumpy and uneven when you're looking at them and that's not what anyone pays $50 for. When you run your fingers over the nail it's even worse. It's so bumpy and uneven it just looks so horrible. After getting my nails done I'm headed to work and I notice that one of my nails gel paint is chipping (gel is not supposed to chip and they charge you more for it) at this point I'm so frustrated because my nails she repaired look jacked up and now my paint is chipping. This is all on the 24th so I call Venus nails and speak with the husband and he says they're very busy come in tomorrow at 10-1015 AM. So now I'm having to wake up early on my day off to go have my nail repainted rather than be squeezed in the same day. So now it's the 25th I unhappily wake up early; I go to the bathroom first thing like most of us, so I sit down and run my fingers through my hair and I'm like that's weird feels like a nail is gone. Look at my hand and my index finger nail is broken clean down the middle where the tip is glued down from the looks of it. So I'm thinking this can't be happening, is it in my bed?? NOPE I look down and it's literally sitting on my thigh. Running my fingers through my hair broke my nail clean in half. I felt no pain at all, I wasn't rough with it at all it just broke. My entire real nail is fine and intact. So at this point I'm livid. I just paid $50 for this bull crap. I get my nails done a lot and I've never experienced anything like this. I'm not stupid and it's obvious that this is caused by purchasing low quality products. Seriously, this place is ripping you all off. They don't push your cuticles back so the grow out happens faster, they use low cost and low quality products. I never have nails break clean off, it doesn't happen if your nails are done properly. They're rushed, constantly stop what they're doing to answer the phone etc; I was extremely patient with them and understanding and I still tipped well but this is just outrageous and I wouldn't feel right not telling others about my experience. Yes, they fixed my nails but they didn't do a good job originally and they didn't do a good job fixing them either but I appreciated that they fixed them. Now I'm just worried about running my fingers through my hair, will another nail break? I'm honestly thinking of calling my bank because it was THAT bad. This really hurts my heart, I hate writing bad reviews but if I could give zero stars I would :( read more

Very disappointed with Venus Nails, I went and had a pedicure. 70 dollars later, my toes nails weren't trimmed, my calluses were not removed. She had to re do my paint job several times. I was also to have a manicure, that the lady didn't do, she forgot. But I was okay with not having it done. When I gave 90 dollars to the lady waiting to get my cash back, she gave 5 dollars back, I told her no not getting a 15 dollar tip. read more
